    Birdsville 1242 d Gariwerd 1128
    Best: Birdsville - T McDonald 122, Rischitelli 120. Gariwerd - Fisher 121, B Smith 117 and a sore head.
The Skinny: The Battlers battle past last week's top scoring team thanks to a pretty even effort across the board, despite an injury to Daniel Wells. For Gariwerd, a number of midfielders with down weeks and a non-playing ruckman might be cause for concern, despite a strong defensive effort.

    Foul Bay 1516 d Wagga Wagga 1424
    Best: Foul Bay - Ziebell 150, 9 others 100+. Wagga - Shiel 149, Pittard 130.
The Skinny: Wow. Foul Bay go bang and get some vintage performances out of a number of players. One score below 70, only two below 80. Despite the loss, Wagga's 1400+ still something tosmile about, especially with a couple of down games from Thompson and Clark. Plenty to work with.

    Marble Bar 1205 d Lovely Banks 1165
Best: Marble Bar - Dunstan 116, Ward 106. Lovely Banks - Caddy 132, Rosa 99.
The Skinny: The Misfits survive an Adam Tomlinson injury early and a Josh Caddy onslaught late on to record their first win. Young talent everywhere here, with Dunstan, Shenton, Devon Smith and a few others racking it up for Marble Bar, while Caddy, Saad, Rampe, Lang and others are starting to find their way for the Lilacs.

    Nunawading 1136 d Cradle Mountain 1105
Best: Nunawading - JPK 130, Easton Wood 128. Cradle Mountain - Pendles 126, Heppell 107
The Skinny: Kudos to the Nuffas, who bounced back from last week's shocking injury blows to win narrowly over the Devils. Nic Nat enjoying life in Nunawading, Cam Ellis-Yolmen looks a real find. The Devils gained three centuries through the midfield but none elsewhere. Zorko and Petrie unable to do enough late to snatch the win.

    Darraweit Guim 1324 d Waikikamoocow 1318
    Best: Darraweit - Rance 156. Waikikamoocow - Fyfe 162.
The Skinny: Nat Fyfe's one man show set up a thrilling finale to this one after the Dirigibles seemed to be cruising comfortably -not the least because of Rance's stunning 156. Fyfe's 162 drew Waikikamoocow close, but an ill-timed injury to NDS in the late game allowed the Guim's Brent Harvey to do just enough to help his side hold on. The Incorrigibles very unlucky.

    Larrikin Lagoon 1250 d Venus Bay 1205
Best: Larrikin Lagoon - Golstein 154, Lewis 111. Venus Bay - Gaff 100, Higgins 99.
The Skinny: The Lefties get on the board for 2015 with a meritorious win, especially considering they played one short due to Sam Mitchell's absence and were also without Josh Gibson through a late withdrawal. Goldstein massive. Venus Bay had eight players score 90 or more, but only one score 100 or more; that said, the talent and depth are definitely there.

    Powlett Plains 1114 d Gundagai 1075
    Best: Powlett Plains - Mundy 150, Douglas 107. Gundagai - Oxley 116, Grundy 114.
The Skinny: A David Mundy masterclass helped seal the Packers' first win of the year. A 102 from Big Sandi helped cover for a a down week from the forwards. Gundagai uncovered another talented youngster in Adam Oxley, while Honeychurch battled hard for an OOP 50 (100SC). Cockatoo's vest-itis saw only 5 points and dented any chance of victory.

    Mt Beauty 1337 d Whitsunday 1106
    Best: Mt Beauty - Martin 139, Cotchin 114. Whitsunday - JJK 178, Barlow 136, Sloane 134.
The Skinny: Don't look now, but Mt Beauty are on a roll - undefeated and in the top four. A stunning forward line performance from Rioli, Martin, Bennell and N Riewoldt spearheaded them to the win. For Whitsunday, too much left to too few, with three massive tons balanced by being one short and without a playing ruckman. Will improve in coming weeks with Lobbe's return.

    Charlie's Opening 1432 d Iron Knob 1277
    Best: Charlie's Opening - Bont 142, S Hill 136, 6 others 100+. Iron Knob - Shuey 128, Griffin 118.
The Skinny: Wow. Charlie's Opening sit in second after a stunning performance to down the Codpieces. Four centuries in the midfield, Bont brilliance, Cale Hooker's matchwinner and youngsters scoring well mean the Spelunkers are on a roll. Iron Knob enjoyed solid performances (10 80+ scores) without standout efforts. A winged Gary Ablett is causing concerns, though Robbie Gray continues his stellar form.

    The Ladder:
This competition has definitely evened up. Anyone can win or lose on their day - with some youthful teams definitely showing signs.

      Nice write up Chris.

With GAJ now confirmed out for 3-4 weeks the Codpieces have surely come back to the rest of the pack, also trading Goldy for basically De Goey is going to hurt the output short term. Be interesting to see if I shouldnt have tinkered with a winning team!

How are you feeling about the Robbie Gray trade?

I'm ok with it, but I probably shouldn't have traded Douglas out for pick 22 (which I then used to get Mackie).
Seeing that I picked up Fisher in the draft, Mackie is not as important for me now, so I kinda wish I'd held Douglas.

Reckon coming back and having a look at trades is always interesting. Reckon the big trade I made with the Lefties saw the Lefties get the better deal - Goddard, Gibson two picks in the 30s - for 11 17 and 48.

Got May, Edwards and Ross with those three picks, so happy with them now and probably in years to come, but just on a broad look, the Lefties probably did better.

That said, I've been able to replace Gibson and Goddard in a way, so that's OK. Losing O'Meara for the year hurts though, especially with Nic Nat playing well (though I'm happy he's playing well!)

I had some vague idea that I had about 85 points in hand but lost track of the scores with a whole heap of other things happening. Logged back in during the last quarter to see Harvey and Robbo both on about the same score but Dal Santo injured.

A bit surprised I held on ... Robbo can score a bit when he isn't being a complete twit - it was a sensible move holding him Graeme in anticipation of him being elevated and playing.
