Another week another Fugitive narrow loss! Some absolute horror stories this week have handed Black Swamp the victory. Harbrow 45, Davis 21, Roughead 26 have the Fugitives in a spot of bother at 2 & 4 and it doesn't get any easier this week with the free scoring Avengers up next.
The cow bell has been rung to end the game at The Showgrounds between Chinchilla and Wedge Island, with The Chumps storming home to take out a close one with The White Pointers 1274 to 1223. Both Greenwood 54 and Andrews 64 tried hard after half time but were unable to hang on to give them their unexpected win against the Competition Leaders. With Naitanui 145 winning the hit outs and JPK 99, the clearances, giving The Chumps first use of the ball, it was a pretty simple matter for Kerridge 65 and the in form Zorko 110 to post a winning score. The visitors were well served by Jesse "the boy wonder" Hogan 139 Toby Greene 115 and ruck Mark Blicavs 99. For the home team, Naitanui 145 was a stand out and well supported by Caddy 123, Zorko 110 and pocket rocket Jarman Impey 90, who enjoyed his first game for The Chumps as a small forward. BOG: 3. Naitanui 145 (CC) 2. Hogan 139 (WIWP) 1. Caddy 123 (CC) Next Round sees The Chumps travel to Drouin for a top of the table clash while Wedge Island continue on their travels, this time to Mole Creek for a 7th versus 6th clash.
In news that the CEO of Walpole assures fans is completely unrelated to its current form, it can be revealed that the club has trademarked the nickname (and the domain address) The Walking Byes.
There were 6 more season low team scores in Round 6 (including the 2 lowest all time) however Cockburn has produced the first 1500 plus score in ORFFF history in their high scoring 1508-1406 victory over the unlucky Jan Juc Ducks while Maralinga continued to show signs of being a dark horse in 2016 as they demolished Walpole by a record margin of 408 points. Neptune Island notched up their 2nd victory over a fellow SA team 1221-1146 over the neighbouring Port Lincoln power to remain perfect (6-0) along with Drouin and Chinchilla in the top 3 spots. Black Swamp surged into 4th spot at the expense of the Dingo Beach Butchers who remain 5th ahead of Mole Creek and Wedge Island in 6th and 7th. Cockburn’s win saw them overtake their round 6 opponents in 8th spot on points scored over the Ducks and 5 other teams on 2-4. Port Lincoln sits precariously at 1-5 while the Woylies at 0-6 can commence their MSD research with the 2016 MSD #1 or #2 pick a near certainty as they seek to hasten their build towards 2018 success - or alternatively look to extract a high price at the trade table for teams wanting to access the best of the overlooked talent.
