Wowee! My maths may be wrong when final scores are tallied but I have it as MCG -1143 DRAWING NKB -1143!! Missed chances on both sides. NKB scoring a donut in defence, while Mole Creek didn't back in young Darcy and took the 'Daw poor score'
Well Ignore me, obviously maths isn't my forte. First win for Mole Creek, the Boags will be flowing today!
Can't say I agree with on the spot red cards for aussie rules football. Penalty system work's fine as it is. Bugg unlikely to play rest of season now.
"What if it happens in a final" is the typical response to that. I'm not massively sold on it now I've calmed down, but the league has to find a way to ensure a team doesn't win as a direct result of thuggery.
Agreed, we have no more than a couple of incidents a season that would warrant it, it just happens to be that they occurred two weeks in a row! I'm interested to know peoples thoughts on the Bugg incident. He did the wrong thing and will deservedly miss a heap of time, but the reporting on it is a bit absurd. I heard some pundit over the weekend saying he hit him with a boxers hook. It was a sloppy swing, but seems like it wasn't hugely malicious, just caught him in the wrong spot. IMO anyway.
I haven't viewed the Bugg incident so will add my view generally (but not related to the Bugg issue) that incidents on Thursday/Friday and even sometimes Saturday nights get sensationalised 5 to 10 times more than games at other times due the nature of the timeslot and the footy media cycle, and I think this also works against the accused player with outrage at the reportable act and pressure on the MRP/tribunal tending to be out of proportion at times.
I think if it causes injury then that would be covered by bringing the sub rule back with a 23rd players used for injuries only (something I thought they should've done before, not the vest crap), so the victim's teams would be mitigated of the effects. Same for any team that has an early injury and a player down for most of the match.
Fugitives 1266 def by Noahs 1289 Another lucky break for the middle or the road Noahs. Walking into this one with a 80 point deficit (on average), the stars have aligned again courtesy of a swag of sub-par performances by our opponent. The majority of the Fugs midfield stood shell-shocked as Lewy Taylor put on a show and smoked a pack of MacMillans. Any finals aspirations will hinge on the return of Lynch and Menzel and for Bugg to knock some cement down Sloane's throat.
