It's no surprise that the top two teams this season, on points and wins, are facing off in the ORFFL Grand Final #4. Details on both teams follow for the biggest regional football match that no one can bother driving all the way too, or grassing the field for (let alone paint the lines).

    SARAH ISLAND SAVAGES

    P17-W14-L2-D1

    Qualifying Final v Milikapti Snakes

    1539 def 1230 (JJ Kennedy 149, Sloane 140, Naitanui 137)

    Preliminary Final v Coulta Couldabeens

    1410 def 1347 (T.Mitchell 121, Mundy 119, JP Kennedy 117)

Was last season just a blip? If anything this season has proven that indeed 2014 was just an aberration for this all-conquering side, who showed little of the shock fragility that occurred in the Qualifying Final against Poowong. Their coached has gone all in this season cashing in their chips to get proven scorers into the side, regardless of age. You must marvel how dominant this team has been in the H&A season and in making 3/4 GFs. It's like the league was set up just for this purpose. In fact, Sarah Island are so good, there's little need to talk about how good they are, we all know it and you can always talk to Hornsy if you're unsure.

So, how could they lose? The Cephalofoilists scoring more is the obvious reason. But lets focus on the Savages themselves. Their biggest opponent before a fantasy stat is recorded in anger is Ross Lyon who looks set to cannibalise the squad with potentially up to four Dockers (Mayne, Mundy, Ibbo, Duffo) sitting out for no reason at all. Brent Harvey look set to face the same fate at North Melbourne. The Savages pride themselves on their depth, they've had to with injuries to the likes of Prestia and Sloane this year but can others step up as others go into hiding before the big show? Josh J Kennedy has won the Coleman medal almost literally one handed, but we all know how hard fantasy trophies are to grasp. Man of Steele looks set to firm up the squad if included in the Giants team for their last game of the season.

It's not like those on the periphery are that much of a concern either. To highlight the depth of the squad, of those that played last week 7 have averages for the season over 100 and a massive 17 of them (out of 20) average higher than 80. So there are players aplenty frothing at the mouth for a chance - and remember that doesn't include Crazy Robbo this year!

Time springs eternal at the Island but as with all premiership windows they must close eventually. With an evergreen squad that would make Woy Woy green with matured envy, they know the best time to take their chances is now and they are the clear favourites for obvious reason.
