Sure he's done his knee, but this is a keeper league and no coach drafts a rookie for what they'll achieve in their debut year - right? On the other side of the equation here are a few names - <strong style='font-size: 14px;]Menzel[/b][span style='font-size: 14px; background-color: #ffffff;], <strong style='font-size: 14px;]Morabito[/b][span style='font-size: 14px; background-color: #ffffff;], <strong style='font-size: 14px;]Patton[/b][span style='font-size: 14px; background-color: #ffffff;]. Which is not to say that players (or even thoseexplicitly mentioned) don't, won't or can't come back from a serious knee injury(s) - look at <strong style='font-size: 14px;]Goddard[/b][span style='font-size: 14px; background-color: #ffffff;] and <strong style='font-size: 14px;]Malceski[/b][span style='font-size: 14px; background-color: #ffffff;] for two off the top of my head, just that it creates a measure of doubt in the minds of fantasy list managers.
    <p style='background-color: #ffffff;]<strong style='font-size: 14px;]Stef Martin[/b][span style='font-size: 14px; background-color: #ffffff;] is another. We've just seen in the ORFFL a 93ppg RUC traded for a 109ppg MID. On that basis what is a 111ppg RUC worth on the open market? A <strong style='font-size: 14px;]Nat Fyfe[/b][span style='font-size: 14px; background-color: #ffffff;]? Yes, there are questions over whether or Martin will be Brisbane's first choice RUC this season, but there are similar doubts on Brisbane other choice in <strong style='font-size: 14px;]Leuenberger[/b][span style='font-size: 14px; background-color: #ffffff;]. ORFFL-wise I don't see the big man last beyond Jimcumbilly with the opportunity to handcuff him to theafore mentioned Leuenberger (and thenperhaps make some serious bank on trading out <strong style='font-size: 14px;]Nichols[/b][span style='font-size: 14px; background-color: #ffffff;]). The complication to this of course is that Coulta have the pick before them and a RUC combo of <strong style='font-size: 14px;]West[/b][span style='font-size: 14px; background-color: #ffffff;] and <strong style='font-size: 14px;]Redden[/b][span style='font-size: 14px; background-color: #ffffff;]. Hmmm. Let that sink in.
    <p style='background-color: #ffffff;][span style='font-size: 14px; background-color: #ffffff;]And while not a player as such, the topic of drafting defenders this year will be&amp;hellip;interesting. A sizeable majority of ORFFL teams this year have gone into this draft with less than 6 DEF's. And yet when you look at the draft pool for that position - before or after the delistments, it's as shallow as I've ever seen it. Well, actually not true. Their are plenty of names there, it's just that most of them have seen very little if any senior action and have the scores you'd imagine from that amount of game time. It's my prediction there'll be a <em style='font-size: 14px;]second round rush[span style='font-size: 14px; background-color: #ffffff;] on this position and plenty of speculative late round <strong style='font-size: 14px;]Jackson Allen[/b][span style='font-size: 14px; background-color: #ffffff;]-types being selected.

      I'd be keen on some form of concession for teams missing Essendon player, self interest and all.

      When I drafted Jobe, and I think Howlett,there were no issues with suspension etc and it'd really suck if suddenly I was down a star midfielder because of something that was done by the Essendon footy club and had no means of replacing them whatsoever.

      I think it's different to injuries as they'd still be physically able to play, just not allowed to, and other suspensions as they are the individual player's fault.

      Also I have had the opportunity to trade them out since this all came to light, but don't think I could have gotten fair value due to the ongoing investigation.

      I'd like to see a like-for-like mini-draft if suspensions do come down, where coaches can elect to keep the Dons players or de-list them and draft a replacement who plays in the same position and is not affected by the suspensions. Not sure on the details of how it would work though.

      One would involve dropping the affected players and replacing them (if one chooses to), the other would involve taking on extra players to cover said affected players while they're out.

      Not that I have an all star Essendon player(s), but I'm drafting to cover that potential hole, and I would expect other coaches to do/have done the same.

      Probably not, but it depends on the length of the suspension if it happens. If it was 2 years then I reckon I'd have to let Jobe go as much as I'd hate it. 1 year might be manageable.

      Howlett is probably a different matter, I reckon with luck I could cover one missing player for a season but 2 would be pushing it.

      Either way I'd like the option though.

      This could be highly variable in how it benefited different clubs. It would really be comparable to an ad-hoc MSD but with not all ORFFL clubs participating.

      This is after all a keeper league. I tend to think that whatever bumps come your way, you just have to ride them out.

      As Kel pointed out I'd probably benefit less from it than some other teams as I'll never be able to replace Jobe with a player left-over from the PSD, especially if the AFL are to be believed when they say it will be decided before the regular season starts.

      Somewhat comparable but not really, as the only players we'd be able to pick up would be ones that everyone has already had the opportunity to select in this draft and with no real additional information. Riding the bumps is fine, but if it comes down to the worst case scenario then missing players for 2 years is a massive bump to get over when they are clogging up your list until at least the MSD.

      WoyWoy and SBS both have 3 Dons players that might get rubbed out, by my count, and that's a pretty big hit for any team to take if you consider normal injuries etc to other players

      The other thing to consider is that the top up players that Essendon would have to use could also be selected by the affected ORFFL clubs. Would this be to the exclusion of the non-affected ORFFL clubs who havent had a chance to draft them?

      No doubt there would be a few who might be good pick ups from a scoring perspective, even if only for a year or two.
