The great thing about the Allies is we ally together, team before player, all for one, one for all. Unlike those pompous fools that think they own the game. Too many chefs etc
Griffen pulled out due to ORFFL snub , bloke was absolutely devaststed, Mastenwould have been a handy inclusion though
Game 1 Report *now "in b4" actual ORFFL reports* The fiercest contest the ORFFL has ever seen, at least since the 4 actual games that mattered on the weekend, kicked off and it was the Allies who drew first blood, their numbers in the Friday night match meant they leapt to an early lead. The Vics however were not to be outdone, and a retrospective-latecoming-off-the-bleachers-performance by Bryce Gibbs with a massive 143 points brought them back into the game. Giles then posted a 142 extending the Vics lead, making sure everyone forgot who Griffin was. Meanwhile Luke Power sat in the stands, celebrating his 300th with a giant 'SENTIMENTALITY ROCKS' banner. Duffield showing what it means to play for pride, pegged the score back before HT, giving the Allies a narrow lead, having had 10 players score to the Vics 9. Collingwood may have faltered but their stars for the Vics didn't, turning it on and running a clinic out there with Beams 166, Thomas 134 and Harvey 135 all making up for Pendles slack 86. The Allies couldn't keep up, despite their consistent scores and when Jolly scored 58 it gave the Vics a mighty 100 point lead with a player to spare...and everyone suddenly remembered Griffin, then remembered he wasn't playing and then wondered why Sandi wasn't playing in SoO. Oh right, Lyin's usual tricks. :x Again the Vic's guns were upset in RL but they still knew how to star for the big V, Dangers 143 negating most of the work done by Walker and Adcock to make this a contest. So ended Saturday night and as the teams counted their injuries and licked their wound, the Allies held a narrow 23 point lead but having played 2 extra players than the Vic. Can they hang on? Will the Vics prove that numbers are on their side? It will all come down to the final charge on Sunday! You'd think a West Aussie team would know where their loyalties lie, even in ORFFL but you'd never think it would be with the Big V. West Coast's guns turned it on against the teal n black training cones and effectively killed the Allies hopes of a victory. So much for a Super Sunday Showdown. Last two games were junk time, and even in not playing the Vics were rewarded, Mitchell out meant Gibbs came on to give two fingers to those that didn't start him and Franklin's absence meant Tippett played too...but the Vics wont talk about that whilst showing off Gibbs' score. Final siren sounded, too late for the Allies who went quickly to their changerooms, heads hung in shame. For the Vics however, scenes of jubilation as they notched the first victory and with "Victoria, Fuck Yeah!" blasting on the speakers they partied on the field like they were channelling Little Libba and even Demetriou was there agree that hey, this Origin malarkey is pretty good, as long as the V continue to dominate. As thoughts turn to next week, the Vics will hope to maintain their form, and with a few of their outs looking likely to play they are looking ominous. For the Allies, the game answered questions as well as throwing more out there. For starters, it answered why none of their coaches are in the actual finals but that lacklustre performance will give their selectors headaches as they work out who to drop, who to bring in, and who should play next week for sentimental reasons.
