Late in the 3rd at the Sandpit, and it’s a low scoring affair with @ddsaints visiting Parasites (672/9/75) leading the Sandgropers (669/10/67) by 3 points, albeit with 1 less player featuring. Pakenham will be hoping to hold on and win from here to keep their finals hopes alive, defeat for Southern Cross will most certainly end their season. Go Sandgropers!!!

The Barracuda's finished on 1,280/15 85.3 to the Bunyips @martyg 1,216/15 81.1 With the mid-season break behind us all it’s time to get the action going. The new kids on the block where here, well everyone except Dunstan, he thought he was still relegated to the seconds and didn’t make the trip. However, Daicos J played off the wing with 23 disposals playing opposite Jarrod flavoured Berry. Keays went head to head with Corn Boy Cripps, both having plenty of touches, Guthrie was left to do his own thing while the Bont lead the home side inside midfield charge with 27 disposals and a beauty of a goal and Sam Walsh starred with 40 disposals and had a day out. From the centre the big boys Stanley verses O’brien, the latter having it all his way including a goal, a total of 36 hit outs, he just monstered the home side Stanley, who was rubbish, only 18 hit outs and spent a lot of time on the pine. Off the bench the home side had Smith who played half forward and newby Aidan Corr in his new colours rotated well throughout the match. Young Jake Kelly of the Bomber gang had to do it all for the visitors rotating through defense while JHF was rubbed out by the tribunal this week. Out of the strong hold of defense the home side let their young opposition known a thing or two about footy. Lloyd did Lloyd things raking up 39 possessions and was on the ball all day on the left flank while Hall was a man possessed knocking out 30 kicks out the right flank. Lewis Young worked hard all day plus pinch hitting where he could while Tuohy rotated up the wing. They kept the visitors forwards on edge, especially Durham of the Sammy type, Cameron could get his motor running with only 13 possessions, Fritsch played the third tall and booted 3. Jack Silvagni had beautiful touch all day however could only slot one through the big sticks. Up forward for the home side had a tussle on their hands, Tomahawk was well held by Houston and could only manage a solitary point for his efforts while Dan had 33 possessions. Graham looked for inspiration up the ground, being shadowed by Hardwick. Errol had some time on the wing, however, couldn’t ditch his opponent Atkins who had some important frees go his way. Bailey’s Dale had 21 kicks for the match however he gave away a couple of frees to Naughton who capitalised in Q4 where he kicked true for the home side to take the points in the tight first game back from the break. A lucky escape for The Cuda’s, the coach was happy with the depth of the team with senior players out with injury. The Bunyips will be thinking what the score line could have looked like with a full complement of players making their way to the match. BOG – A Hall (GEB), J Lloyd (GEB) & S Walsh (BBU)
The long awaited grand final replay had finally arrived. Having survived the mid-season break, locals were excited to see the home town team back in action with an extra pep in the step around the arrival of Jack Viney. Despite the anticipation and excitement, this contest quickly turned into a race to the bottom with Thomas (17) and Byrnes (49) setting a worrying trend for the Buffaloes while the visitors refused to be outdone, doubling down through the efforts of McAdam (24), Langdon (32), Riccardi (42) and Duggan (49) being forced to play out of position. Fortunately for the home crowd there was enough performances at the other end of the scale encouragingly topped out by new arrival Jack Viney (123) who has immediately found a place in the hearts of fans. Supported by Kelly (115), Merrett (111), Saad (109) and Ridley (100) there was just enough in the tank for the Buffaloes to get the win and keep the pressure on the Barracudas for top spot despite the best efforts of Dawson (134) and Hewett (104) for the Barcrawlers. Final result from the Horsham V Hughenden match with the Huskies running out 145 point winners (1284 vs 1139), but the match was in the balance until late on Sunday. The Prairie Dogs added Jai Culley and Brynn Teakle during the MSD, but neither appeared for this match up. Meanwhile the Huskies traded in Harris Andrews and Mitch Lewis and with Nathan Wilson delisted, the Gisborne defence is no more. The Huskies were well lead by the ever-reliable Witts (148), new recruits Andrews (117) and Lewis (95) and players returning from injury/omission from the last H2H match up, Harmes (103), Ross (90) and Henry (89). Solid supporting scores from Caldwell (86), Gresham (84) and Billings (84) helped get Horsham to their highest team score this season. Hughenden were well lead by Oliver (140), Jordan (102), Yeo (102) and Barrass (90). Mills (86) and Berry (84) provided support but once DBJ didn't appear, it was all too much for Hughenden. Horsham are now 3-9 and sitting 16th, whilst Hughenden are 2-10 and 17th. @insider Nuytsland Vikings 1169 def by Ararat Armadillos 1303 Dillos rolled into town missing some key players in name BIG Max Gawn and Boom left boot Rich and a few others, even missing a few players the Dillios would be quietly confident as they have wood over the Vikings, no Gawn no worries in steps Jackson absolutely dominating the ruck. What Jackson lacks in the hitout to advantage catagory makes up for it in effort around the ground. Astute pick up Walker is leading the forward line kicking bags of goals while Stewart has permanent leather positioning, why a tag is not implemented nobody knows but he just does as he pleases but this attitude has cost him coping a ban from the tribunal. Blakey chimed in with great run from defense making the plays and also delivering ball inside 50 perfectly. Home team Vikings are plugging holes as under performing permos are costing the team as we lose our grip on the top four. Make matters worse Scott hurt his hip as he was in some real form down back, dumping Ross stings as does trading Viney. Vikings Tons Hayden Young (104): Loose in defence, Young added 25 disposals and 5 marks. Tom Liberatore (116): Playing inside midfield, Liberatore contributed with 30 disposals, 8 tackles and 1.1. Dillios Tons Taylor Walker (116): First goal and three in Q1… 6.2 from 12 disposals and 7 marks with 3 tackles. Nick Blakey (124): Starting across half back, Blakey contributed with 31 disposals, 2 marks and 2 tackles. Tom Stewart (161): A high bump off the ball in Q1 will see him rubbed out for weeks… 29 possessions with 21 by foot… also 6 marks and 2 tackles. In defence. Luke Jackson (122): First ruck in the absence of Gawn, Jackson contributed with 21 touches, 4 grabs, 9 tackles, 18 hit outs and 1.0 on the scoreboard. 3. Stewart 2.Blakey 1.Jackson
Late in the third at the Sandpit and Southern Cross (789/9/88) hold a two point lead over @DamoH ‘s Smugglers (787/12/66). Fair amount still to play out, but with home side having six players to field to three, things are looking positive for the Sandgropers to pick up their fifth win of the season. Go Sandgropers!!!
