    The Barracuda's finish on 1,296/15 86.4 to the Vikings @bryzza on 1,370/15 91.3

A tight match all the way, even the Bont couldn't get the home team over the line against the more consistent visitors.

    Full match report to come.

At full time in the Goldfields, the home side have come away with an unconvincing win, in a match that saw a couple of players really show their worth, and way too many players just standing around distracted by butterflies. @fresh

    upload_2022-7-25_7-47-34.png

The Prospector defence remained the solid unit that its universally known for, with all four contributing well and J Aish the stand-out performer.
The Cow Bay defensive line was a hit-and-miss affair with the well-performed C Wilkie and J Scrimshaw seen yelling "words of encouragement" to their backline teammates N Balta and J Noble, who were both more interested in the butterflies than the footy.

The mids was once again the Touk masterclass, with the tagger-turned-ballwinner putting in a BOG performance. He was ably supported by the re-emerging Jaeger, while reigning AFL B&F O Wines had a stinker.
On the other side of the coin, the hit-and-miss performances continued, with T Taranto and J Clark putting in a great one-two punch, while A McGrath and J Hopper put in a great one-two snooze-fest.

The rucks saw visitor B Williams snap up the giant tap, overpowering the home-town hero O McInerney with some solid rucking all day.

Up forward for the locals was where it all fell apart, with new recruit P Wright being the major focal point, while J Waterman, J Ginnivan, and W Hoskin-Elliott were more interested in comparing haircuts.
The Croc attack was all D Moore, taking marks and kicking goals with ease. S Bolton and B Hobbs seemed happy to just set up their prolific teammate, while I Rankine was joining his opponents in the haircut discussions.

Running off the interchange was A Aliir, absolutely killing it down back, while H Clark when to join the haircut discussions but no-one could get past his nose!
H Chapman came dawdling off the visitors bench, mainly because he was feeling lonely with S Petrevski-Seton choosing not join his teammates at all, much to the disgust of the visitors coach!

In the end it was a win for the Prospectors, keeping the finals dream alive, while the Crocodiles won't have to worry about seeing any smiles after that effort.

    The votes:
    3 - T Miller, Coolgardie, 157
    2 - D Moore, Cow Bay, 124
    1 - A Aliir, Coolgardie, 117

Next week sees Cow Bay back at home, planning on snacking on some flys from Korumburra, while Coolgardie will be checking out the crabs on Christmas Island. Good luck to all four teams.

    The Barracuda's finish on 1,296/15 86.4 to the Vikings @bryzza 1,370/15 91.3

Some good news for the home side with Hall and Zorko making their way back to the team after some injuries to sure up their defensive structure. The visitors come in unchanged from their 3-game winning streak.

Zorko the Magnificent had 20 disposals off the inter-change with Smith who rotated up forward kicking 1 for the match. Their opposition had West who got stuck on the bench with play being on the opposite wing and Slap on Boot Mitchell in flying form with 32 disposals, what a ball magnet.

The big man in the center, Stanley went down at the start of Q3 and was subbed off with a knee injury while the visitors English smashed away and did what he pleased with 19 hit outs and 2 through the white sticks. This was first blood for the Vikings, who looked to capitalise on the man down.

After an injury lay off, Aaron Hall was back to lead the Cuda’s defense with 30 touches, 22 by boot, with Touhy following suit keeping Duncan busy, who pushed up and Greene who slotted 3 busy. Lloyd was unusually slow against Mckay who had 2 goals and collected a couple of important frees for the game. Young guns Heeney and Lewis Young went head-to-head with the visitor coming out on top with 4 frees and a couple of goals to keep the visitors in front throughout the day.

The engine room wasn’t for the faint hearted, Berry of the Jarrod flavour could feel the heat from Liba who used every trick in the book to harass, Guthrie was solid keeping Shuey on the dead wing and Corn Boy Cripps with 34 touches was back and in a tussle of his life with Warne whose boot was on fire. However, the day belonged to the Bont with 26 touches and 9 tackles up against the Truck who tried everything to subdue his opponent.

The Vikings have taken a leaf out of the Cuda’s play book with their defensive pressure hard and consistent, Hurn and Newman double teamed Naughton who was kept deep but did manage 2 goals while Young who starred with 31 touches was the loose man tearing apart Graham first then our Errol who copped a knee in the gob for his troubles. Tomahawk bagged 4 for the day with 2 coming late in Q4, to make a last-minute charge to try and gain the lead.

The Vikings stayed the course and took the win with solid footy and move to top of the leader board and the Barracuda’s take another loss and two in a row. A new rivalry has been born between these two teams over the last 3 years, in the way that both teams go about their business. Today was a Viking day, a well-deserved win.

    BOG – M Bontempelli (GEB), T Hawkins (GEB) & H Young (NV)

There was plenty on the line for the Buff as they played host to the visiting Armadillos. Despite a top 4 spot being all but locked away, the jostling for all important positioning for a deep finals run was well and truly on and despite Ararat having not as much riding on the result they home town boys knew that there was never an easy contest against the nation's biggest losers.

If there was any danger of falling into forgetting about that, BOG The People's Beard (147) rampaged through the first bounce and set the tone early, taking out Dangerfield (24) & Viney (61) in the process and hampering them for the rest of the game. Unfortunately though, the recklessness was a little too out of control and Gawn also impacted the health of teammates Selwood (49), Brayshaw (79) & Rowell (79). After investigations into the opening incident were followed up on post game, it was discovered that the plan was pre-meditated and Tom Highmore was so worried about the action that he withdrew from the match only to be replaced by an equally nervy Foley (30) who was clearly distracted throughout.

Although the Buff saw another player go down to injury in Ballard (44), there was enough of the squad who escaped the opening carnage to put in an even team effort and provide some real highlights along the way with Merrett (133), Saad (136), & Heppell (114) particularly impressing. In the end that was more than enough with Armadillos Walker (54) & Jackson (61) struggling to have enough impact up forward to keep the side competitive with the lack of supply from the underperforming midfield.

The win for Serengeti ensured they'd stay in the race for the upper echeclon of finishing positions right through the last round and hopefully help avoid another bruising finals encounter with the Armadillos. While for Ararat, they return back home and look to finish off the season well and await a potential finals encounter with long time rivals Korrumburra.

Final result from the Horsham V Pakenham match with the Parasites running out comfortable 266 point winners (1147 vs 881). The match was over early with the Huskies underperforming compared to their previous post bye round form, and injuries to Billings, Gresham, Harmes and Reeves not helping.

The Parasites were well lead by Anderson (135), Sinclair (117), Butters (106) and Cerra 95. Solid supporting scores from Moore (89), Marshall (88) and Gaff (80) helped get Pakenham to a reasonable score.

Horsham struggled to put any competitive scores on the board, with only Bailey (93), Witts (86) and Reeves (81) doing well.

Horsham are now 5-11 and sitting 15th, whilst Pakenham are 10-6 and 6th.

    BAFFU
    3 votes - N Anderson (PAKP)
    2 votes - J Sinclair (PAKP)
    1 vote - Z Butters (PAKP)

    Big Tap
R Marshall (PAKP) defeated J Witts (HH) 88 to 86

Next round Horsham host Nuytsland and Pakenham host Blanchwtown.

A couple of the Eden boys decided to end their season a little earlier than the rest of their teammates and allowed an easy win in the end for The Buff
