Great write up and thank you for the updates throughout the weekend. Was a very close contest, and whilst the Huskies were fortunate to get over the line, its the franchises first win since round 1 last season, so at least that's something. Pretty obvious our defence is in trouble, so that will be our priority at the mid season trade period.
Round 1: Bunyips 870 Def by Blowflys 1236 In a lucklustre affair there is not much to write about. The battle of the new recruits JHF vs Daicos was won by Daicos. The midfield of the Blowflys dominated the homeside with only 2 of the local boys bothering to show up. Same shit up forward where only 2 of the locals decided to turn up allowing the Blowflys to dominate another area. The only shining light was in Defence with Houston starting the 2022 season with a bang. Boak could be in for another big year top scoring all comers with a very handy 149 for the visitors. In the Rucks, it was a different story with ROB (92) just outscoring Goldy (90) and getting his 2022 Big Tap campaign off with a W. BOG - Boak (149) Houston (144) Keays (128) @Mick sorry for the lack of updates and late match report.
Sorry @insider been otherwise occupied since Friday. Final results saw Coolgardie get pummelled by Ararat. Coolgardie did have a small win in the Giant Tap, with O McInerney (122 points) beating M Gawn (92 points). The votes: 3 - M Rowell, Ararat, 157 points 2 - L McDonald, Ararat, 140 points 1 - T Miller, Coolgardie, 137 points. Next up sees Ararat back home to host the Bulls from Staghorn Flat, while Coolgardie are on the road to Blanchetown to face the 'yips. Good luck to all four teams.
The Barracuda's finish on 1,355/15 90.3 defeating the Bar Crawlers @choppers on 1,200/15 80.0 A good solid hit out for the home side, Corn Boy Cripps was a ball collecting zombie off the interchange and slammed home 3 goals. The Bont played with heart after a rolled ankle in Q3, Guthrie got going in the second half. Berry got a knock to his injured shoulder and Zorko did an ankle and was subbed off. In defense Hall was a gun with 26 by foot getting it out of the defensive end, whilst McGov lead from the goal square all day. Stanley smashed it all day as the number 1 ruck. Up forward was where all the action was happening 4 goals each to Tomahawk and Naughton, with the tackling machine Gulden off the half forward. New recruit Hewitt for the visitors shone off the half back, Dawson played off the wing and looked good and whilst the others were man handled. The running machine Ed Langdon did all he could to sway the game his way. Mitch Robo played hard ball and potential could be banned for 1 week for a headhigh contact. LDU was on fire with 9 tackles, Adams pulled up a bit sore in the ribs in Q4 and Lyons and Greenwood were solid. Wright couldn’t get his big mitts on the ball in the big tap. Gray’s right knee smashed into Zorko, then was lame for the rest of the game and ANB moved up the ground trying to get some midfield time as there was no action happening in their forward line. BOG – Tomahawk (GEB), Corn Boy Cripps (GEB) & Hewitt (BB)
Christmas Island Smugglers 948 def Hughenden Prairie Dogs 946 In a low scoring affair the Smugglers came home with a wet sail winning by 2 points. It didn’t start will for the home team with Langford (4) pinging a hammy in the first few minutes of the game and it didn’t get much better from there with a dysfunctional forward line lack lustre midfield and error ridden defence the locals really had little to cheer about. The visitors were in a similar position and both teams will be glad to see that game out of the way. For the home team Oliver(112) and DBJ (113) were the only highlights and for the Smugglers Redden (106) and Crouch (112) their only bright spots. Big Tap Pittonet 72 to Ratugolea 43 BAFFU Awards 3 DBJ 113 2 Oliver & Crouch 112
@ddsaints Nutysland 1269 vs Pakenham 1209 The graveyard welcomed the Parasites for the 1st game of the season, the crowd was treated to a nail biting finish but before that the Vikings were needing to to use two reserve players as Shuey and Duncan succumbed got not get through there last fitness tests. Parasites also has there woes on the bench coping a 4 from new comer Owies. As for the Vikings we had some serious under performers in Libba, Stephenson and O'Halloran with a 50 and a couple of 30's, being the 1st game of the Ill take that a warm up. Pakenham had an all around the ground especially dominating the midfield the 3 tons with Petracca playing a lone hand trying to inspire his midfield team mates bouncing out of the blocks with a huge 163 The Raising of the bat: NV Christian Petracca (163): Starting in midfield Petracca contributed with 38 touches, 8 grabs, 2 tackles and managed 2.1. In scenes all too familiar in 2021 the inconsistent Bulls have meekly gone down to the Monarchs at Mill Park in the 10th meeting between these clubs. @Tylo Bulls 1123 Monarchs 1245 Green, Macrae Kennedy and Hickey all saluted for the visitors whilst new recruit Parker led all comers with 167 with Newcombe, Shiel and Lobb also saluting for the home team. An injury to star defender Salem and mediocre scores Ward, Weller, Lynch, and Cunningham attributed to a substand effort which the locals are getting used to. The selectors will also be weighing up some changes with Rowe, Gunston and Sholl dominating in the 2s and McEvoy returning from iso. Good Luck to the Monarchs for the rest of the year. 3 - Parker SFB 2 - Green KIM 1 - Macrae KIM
Qtr time at The Stadium for the game between Banchang and the visiting Vikings from Nuytsland. At this early stage it would appear that there will be only one winner, as only 13 Barcrawlers have decided to show up, and the visitors have emergencies on all lines, to cover late outs. And to show they're here to play, the Vikings have taken a commanding lead thru a rejuvenated Libba (131) in the middle, Big Harry (102) up front with 4 snags, and English (99) getting 1st use in the ruck. New boy Hewett (117) down back for Banchang has followed up his 1st round performance and is the only local to show his face. Vikings lead the Barcrawlers 4/408 to 1/117 @bryzza
Progress score from Huskies Vs Monarchs. A pretty dismal start for the home team has this game looking very one sided already. Huskies: 135/4 (34) Monarchs: 477/6 (80)
The Croc's are on ? to the Barracuda's on 881/10 88.1 Interesting tactics the Cow Bay @fresh are employing, going to gang tackle the visitors when they least expect it.
It's Korumburra with a handy lead heading into the last 1/3 of the match against the visiting Panthers. @ron swanson KB 829 / 9 / 92 PEP 593 / 10 / 59

Progress score from Huskies Vs Monarchs. Monarchs will get the job done, but it's been a closer game since quarter time. Huskies: 798/13 (61) Monarchs: 941/12 (78)
Late in the 3rd at the Sandpit and @wrightbrendan ‘s visiting Buffalos 1081/12/90 lead the Sandgropers 581/7/83 by 500 points. Neale has carried the midfield solo, putting in a huge effort to lead all comers with 198, but it’s going to be a big win for Serengeti, with the home side going in 5 players short. Go Sandgropers!!!

Coolgardie Prospectors 1204 def Blanchetown Bunyips 1180 Again the Bunyips were at home and again we came up short... Literally. A fantastic effort by the visiting Prospectors and their number one defender - Jayden Short. Up forward the visitor's Nick Larkey pulled out of of his proverbial to produce possibly his highest score ever and was possibly the difference with Darcy MacPherson for the home side failing to get out of bed and missed the match. In the guts it was the battle of the goliaths, Keays (149) vs Touk (140) both battled hard all day with the homeside gun doing enough to secure the 3 BAFFU points. Big man ROB turned up and dominated McInerney to take home the Big Tap points. Overall a very close game with consistent scoring across the board from Coach @JPK visiting side, whilst the home side a ruing a missed opportunity to get off the bottom of the ladder. Next week the Bunyips are at home again vs the Sandgropers whilst the Prospectors head home to host the Bulls. BAFFU - Keays - 3 Miller - 2 Short - 1 Big Tap - ROB
Cow Bay 1,099 def by Groote Eylandt 1,389 Cow Bay crashed from their round 1 efforts, losing to the Cudas by 290 points. The poor showing saw just 2 Crocs score 100+ compared to 7 from the visitors and it wasn't helped by Rankine being suspended pre-game for vandalising the visitors' accomodation by spray painting Barrac**ts on several front doors. Not a lot of positive things to say for the home team. Scrimshaw continues to shine scoring 106 points this week, Moore has improved again after a strong preseason scoring 103 points and Degoey's move to the middle saw a 95 point effort from him. After being considered for the discard pile in the lead up to the PSD, Petrevski-Seton surprised the coach with his 92 points. Young ruck Williams (78) put it a mature performance against a much older counterpart at centre bounces. Cripps (162), Hall (123), McGov (117), Zorko (116), Gulden (114), Bont (105), Lloyd (102)...839 points right there and a performance the Groote coach should be proud of. It allowed Hawkins (33) and Naughton (35) to kick back a bit and have an easy weekend and not be too worried about Smith (73), Graham (75) and Berry (76) putting in average efforts. The win sees the Cudas move up to 2nd place on the ladder while the Crocs slip to 9th. Big Tap Williams (78) def by Stanley (80) BAFFU 3 Cripps, GEB, 162 2 Hall, GEB, 123 1 McGov, GEB, 117 @YAD69
Match report rnd 2 Pakenham v Hughenden Pakenhams first home game of the year and it turned out to be a nail biter. The home fans were thrilled with the final result with the Parasites 1200 just getting over the line to the Prairie Dogs 1189 The game ebbed and flowed and wasn’t decided until very late with a plethora of Stkilda and Fremantle players sealing either teams fate. Very exciting finish The Parasites had some great contributors Butters 136 Sinclair 114 KING 110 Blicavs 108 Noah 106 and Moore 100 doing the damage whilst the Prairie Dogs had Mills 147 Oliver 121 Battle 114 and Ward 101 putting in great games The ruck battle was won by big Row with a 67 Very lucky Pakenham snuck out that win.
