Final score from Huskies Vs Barcrawlers.
A very close contest across the long weekend. Sadly, two late injuries to the Huskies proved to be the difference.

    Huskies: 1079/15 (72)
    Barcrawlers: 1166/15 (78)

Nuytsland Vikings 1433 def Korumburra Blowflys 1197

Vikings taught the Blowflies a valuable lesson, do not talk it up if you are going to stink it up. Vikings are far from running on all cylinders which shows ominous times to come with a few proven performers taking there time to hit their straps, noticeably Libba a gun inside player oh why is the coach playing him up forward. Fiery Greene is due back this week after a lengthy suspension for rubbing up against a whistle-blower and Shuey's return from hammy's and covid should be better for the run, Heeney's move to the midfield has him in best and fairest form equally with English are holding the team together.

As for Blowflies ( stinkflies ) Goldy's experiment clearly not working, walters butchering every opportunity should see him spend some time in the twos and a season ending injury to Sloane will have the coach scratching his head, Hind and Perkins lacking consistency. It's not all bad Xerri having a stand out season while Boak and Steele continue on from last year.

    Blokes who raised a Bat:

Tom Mitchell (138): Quiet first half then lifted… tagged … 33 disposals and 1.1… aided by 3FF. Playing in midfield.
Harry McKay (101): McKay contributed with 18 disposals, 5 grabs, 2 tackles, 3 hit outs, kicked 3.1 and 3 frees against.
Isaac Heeney (111): Finished the game well… 3.2 from 16 possessions and 8 marks plus 6 tackles… gave away 3 FA. Starting forward.
Tim English (135): First ruck, English contributed with 22 touches, 7 marks, 2 tackles, 22 hit outs, managed 1.1 and 4 free kicks given away.
Matt Crouch (100): Playing inside midfield, Crouch added 26 possessions and 3 marks.

Jack Steele (130): Playing inside midfield, Steele contributed with 27 disposals, 7 marks and , 6 tackles.
Josh Dunkley (100): Racked it up in second half junk time… 23 disposals and 9 marks with 7 tackles… 0.1 as well. Mostly starting at half forward. Dunkley also had 3 frees against.
    Matt Taberner (115): Three goals in Q3, 7.0 from 11 disposals and 6 marks… aided by 3FF
Caleb Daniel (108): Starting at half back, Daniel contributed with 23 disposals, 7 marks and 4 tackles.

    3. Mitchell
    2. English
    1. Steele

Match report from Pakenham v Staghorn

It was another home game this week, the fans didn’t realize until late and probably would have wished they didn’t know.
After playing well last week the Parasites struggled to get it going again this week and in the end were beaten comprehensively by a much better out fit.
Pakenham 1096 defeated by Staghorn Flat 1288

The Bulls put together a four quarter performance and showed why they are in premiership talks, with great games from McCluggage 129 Parker 123 and Lobb 101 the rest contributed nicely with Newcombe 97 and Coniglio 96 in the best.
The poor young Parasites had the normal few doing there jobs with Butters 130 Big Row 125 Sinclair 113 Blicavs 104 and Moore 101 the highlights but with a struggling midfield and 1 missing it was always going to be tough.

The Big Tap was won easily by Big Row 125 defeating Nank 75

    BOG 3. Butters 130. 2. McCluggage 129. 1. Marshall 125

    The Barracuda's finish on 1,266/15 84.4 to the Whalers @HOLKY 1,135/15 75.7

The visitors ruck Flying Flynn was just beautiful, 27 hit outs getting the upper hand in the big tap and even had time to kick a goal. Their engine room went toe to toe with the home team. Ball magnet Crisp was in everything, Pendlebery was tagging Berry, Amon tagging Smith with 15 disposals and young Taylor rotated forward and popped 2 through the big sticks. Their backline was solid, locking down where they could. Baker even rolled up and booted 2. In the 50-meter arc Lewis put through 3, 1 for McStay, while McCarthy and Close were checked heavily. Broad was good off the bench, but Howes didn’t even bother to turn up.

The home side started off a in great form, the magnificent Zorko played with heart from start to finish, Stanley went head-to-head in the big tap but gave away too many frees. The Bont was on fire, off half forward and kicked 3 goals, Guthrie had 20 possessions however he limped off late in Q1 but battled on. Smith was tagged heavily and also gave away frees for dancing the YMCA and the Jarrod flavoured Berry circled the packs. The defensive line held strong, Lloyd leading the way with 24 possessions, Hall tweaked his hammy in Q2 and was subbed off with Kolo replacing him, Tuohy roamed the corridors while Weit played the lock down role. It was raining goals for AstroNaugt, 5 in total, Gulden racked up the disposals in junk time, Tomahawk bagged 3 but was well held and Graham couldn’t get going and spent much time warming the bench.

The locals did enough today to hold off the visitors who tagged very well to take the win.

    BOG – D Zorko (GEB), A Naughton (GEB) & J Crisp (EW)

Round 5: Ararat Armadillos vs Pearcedale Panthers

Not many inspiring events in this match at all.
Poor old @ron swanson was hobbled by outs, with Erasmus & Tucker providing donuts, while Cockatoo also pulled the pin but was replaced by Hill (51) who tried his hardest.
Duryea wound back the clock for his best score in the last handful of years (102) and Brodie Smith (114) showed that he isnt done yet. Brodie (94) and Darcy (121) combined well out of the guts, but there wasnt a great deal left for the visitors to cheer about.
For the home side it was back to the yo-yo of unpredictable performance. Ziebell came crashing back to reality (50), Miers had the curse of the second game soreness (51) and Rowell (64) reminded us that he has still only played 20 odd games.

Final result AA 1391 defeated PEP 999

Cow Bay have started 2022 showing signs of the infamous green shoots but unfortunately for the Crocs, round 5 showed that those shoots still need plenty of nurturing before they fully mature.

De Goey (125) had got the Crocs off to a flier and inspired ex-Buffalo Witherden (134) to forget about the non-compete clause in his trade deal and give the visiting fans hope of leaving Serengeti celebrating a victory. However the other ex-Buffalo to be donning the Crocs geurnsey Shai Bolton (76) was offended by Witherden's disrespect and made sure things never got out of hand.

Plenty to like about the Buffaloes, even if Captain Danger (79) is starting to show signs of leading his team for so long. Management are furiously trying to come up with a game plan that will see him spend more time forward and allow the younger ones to take over the bash and crash inside the centre square. Smith (135), Parish (113) & Kelly (106) showed that they are ready to take on that mantle and with the imminent return of reigning B&F Zac Merrett, the sooner the team can get that sorted, the better.

Despite some standard brown & gold inspired tom foolery that saw James Worpel pretend like he wasn't going to bother turning up but then sneak onto the ground early in the first quarter, Serengeti ran away with a comfortable 266 point win.

Final result from the Horsham V Banchang match with the Barcrawlers taking a late 87 point win (1166 vs 1079). 87 is an unlucky number for some and certainly is now for the Huskies who fancied getting their 3rd win for the season all the way up to the middle of the last quarter, but crucially lost Reeves (and later on Henry) to injury. Otherwise, the two teams were barely separated across the match.

Banchang were well lead by Doedee (113), Hewitt (111) and Dawson (101). Supporting performances from Collins (85) and Reid (80) got Banchang to a competitive score.

Horsham's top performers were Gresham (117), Bailey (104), Starcevich (91), Witts (88) and Jiath (87).

Congratulations to Banchang on their first win of the 2022 season, moving up to 13th in the process. Horsham's young side are now 2-3 and sitting 12th.

    2 votes - T Doedee (BB)
    1 vote - G Hewitt (BB)

Early in the third at the Sandpit, and @bryzza ‘s visiting Vikings 704/9/78 lead the Sandgropers 532/6/89 by 172 points.

Plenty of guns to come for both sides, but the bookies justifiably have Nuytsland as short priced favourites.

    Go Sandgropers!!!
