Those curveballs that life throws are never easy to deal with and I'm glad that you both have had a positive outcome from the treatment. I hope Mrs DamoH's recovery continues to steadily improve, my thoughts and well wishes are with both of you.

Challenges come in many shapes and sizes, cancer being all too common now amongst all age groups.

Great to hear your wife’s health is improving, can only make things a little easier to deal with. Thoughts with you all.

Sending you some of Adam Simpsons’s good fortune mate, share the good luck ;)

So Ihave updated my sheet, below, and taking the "jnr Rioli" effect into account, Southern Cross finish 16th with 4 wins, with KIM dropping to 17th.

There is no change to Banchang's standings, as they were already two games clear of 10th, this change will only reduce the margin between the teams to 4 points.

On another note, the people of Southern Cross have become sick of losing and have sold the club to some wealthy fisherman in the northwest of WA, to give them something to do when they're not on the water.

The club has been rebranded, The Exmouth Anglers.

I have been retained as coach (albeit with a one season probation), and welcome the move to a fresh market, with a leading lifestyle.

    Go Anglers!!!

Is only 4 games in round 1 2024 going to be an issue? And the potential of those teams involved in round 1 having a bye between rounds 2 and 7?

    @JPK

Just a quick thought as I haven't had my morning cuppa yet......
Teams with players from the "Opening Round" nominate those players in their starting sides as per normal.....
Start the ORFFU comp from the next weekend at Round 1.
Those players that were nominated then have their scores transposed to the Round where they have the bye.
    Comp continues as normal.....
Now I'm off to get my cuppa....

    The f*ckwitts at AFL house....

For those that aren't yet aware:
The eight clubs playing in the ‘opening round’ will have a second in-season bye staggered across rounds 2-6 to ensure all clubs are back on an even keel by round 7.

Lets see what the full fixture looks like before we work out how this will effect us, and how we'll be able to manage it.
I'm assuming it'll also be a problem for the other ORFF*'s, so it'll likely be a common solution.

If we’re throwing things out there, what if we reduced team size requirements for “Opening Round” (wtf AFL?) so we can add another round to the finals and with it, a double chance for the top 4?

All we need to do is reduce Def, Mid & Fwd to 3 on field each and interchange to 1 or more likely none. The main positional issue will be ruck, but with each team having a week off from opening round to round 7, it will affect each of us equally, although some with depth will be better prepaid.

People should be able to field ten players (OOP may be needed for some), and between rounds two to seven, if we’re down to 8 games a round, then we stuck it up for the good of the comp.

I’ve only been top four once, and doubt I’ll be there any time soon, so there’s no agenda from me, just think the closer we can get it to the real thing the better. Get rid of choose your own adventure and follow the big boy model. No getting knocked out by 7th or 8th place in week one, as you can lick your wounds and butter up again the next week for another crack at likely a bottom half of the 8 team. Just reward for a great season.

    Any thoughts?

Main balance issue is there's only 8 teams playing in R0. And while I got 17 players from that bloc, Carnamah have 6

Thought this may be an issue, but didn’t realise the size for some. I haven’t even checked how it affects my side.

Looks like the season is 25 rounds long, of which there are 9 impacted by byes in some way.
