Ridiculous!! I think it may have also impacted the Vikings 1600+ score... edit: And may have even been beaten for the highest score of the round! Can we please bring back Grundy!!
False alarm. My calculator had a Nicholas instead of a Nic. You'd think AFL sites could use standardised names.... Nonetheless, congrats to @bryzza and @insider on some massive scores! And here's hoping you've peaked too early
Bulls Dillos - Match Report The locals gathered hoping to see a Bulls upset which would put them in the prime seat to secure 8th on the ladder. @insider Dillos have been a bogey team for the Bulls with the home team with an horrendous 1 & 10 record. The Bulls started positively enough with Maynard (97) playing heart out down back, along with Whitfield (137) who is in a rich vein of form. Soldo (128) took the ruck points over Jackson (87) with Coniglio(122) & Hunt (116) providing the run all in all the Bulls were all out 1241. That all sounded positive for the Bulls and across the board was the 7th highest score of the weekend. The Armadillos, responded in kind with a massive score of 1591 with no less than 10 players raising the bat in what was a brutal mauling of the Bulls. 3 Gawn AA 174 2 Walker AA 157 1 Treloar AA 144 100s: Stewart, Ryan, Laird, Brayshaw, Rowell, Rozee & Wingard The Bulls will be hoping to secure 8th place this round against Coolgardie with the Dillos will look to continue their high flying run.
Cormorants 1178 def by Blowflys 1248 The Blowflys lived up to their name on the weekend and just pestered the proverbial out of the Cormorants until they couldn’t handle it any longer. Going into the final stanza the Cormorants held a 1043 to 912 however the Blowflys continued to buzz with Witherden, Kelly, Goldstein and Xerri doing enough to drag their side over the line. The Blowflys showed great tenacity to fight on after losing one of their all time greats early in the contest with Buddy Franklin immediately declaring he had played his last game of ORFFU. Whilst there were only a few standout performers it was the solid team effort across the board that ensured Buddy would go out with a win and the team would solidify their position in the top 8. For the home team the only pleasing aspect was Lloyd Meek demonstrating what he can do when allowed to ruck solo, posing an interesting off season debate for the Cormorants hierarchy. Mate I'm 6 rounds behind in downloading this year's data and am still missing data from 2021 and 2022 so can't say for sure. But based on the data I have up to end of 2020, Groote's score of 1639 in round 12 is the highest and only score over 1600. Close to an overall record but surely a club record for the Vikings.
The Barracuda's finish on 1,269/15 84.6 defeated by the Crocs on 1,271/15 84.7 After the Barcrawlers Elliott and midfield mates drank us under the table and then kicked our ass on the footy field it was back to the drawing board for the Barracuda’s who this week are hosting the very much improved Crocs, who are by stealth sitting in 5th spot on the ladder ready strike and snap your head off. Especially after an ordinary effort against the Whalers but got the job done. In defence, Lloydy the gun was back to his best with Corr in toe off the opposite flank. Weitering was the rock in the middle with 11 contested marks and Tuohy was matched up on Henry. For the opposition Balta rotated at each end of the paddock, Moore kick the first goal of the day but that was it. Sheezel switched it up and kept his opponent guessing plus having 33 possessions and Bolton did all the heavy lifting. Stan-ley had a heap of hit outs, however they weren’t getting to his mates, while BJ was on fire and feed his mids easily. Off the bench, Jacky Graham was disappointingly horrible especially after last week’s supreme performance, McLean chopped in the ruck unfortunately gave away 3 weak frees. The visitors had a surprise Henry lob in and booted 2 goals and Zak Jones was caught up in battle when a Zorko fell across his knee, gone in the first quarter. The centre square the home team were solid the Bont collected 27 touches however was held all match by Hopper. Corn Boy Cripps went head-to-head with DeGoey, what a battle that was. Smith tried tagging Taranto it worked to a degree however TT still managed a goal outside the 50m arch. Jarrod flavour Berry did well all day, however he looked slow up against Worpel who had 30 touches and really had the drop on his opponent easily. Up forward for the home side Oh Errol starred again with 37 possessions and bagged a goal. He was a lone hand today, the Magnificent Zorko wasn’t so today after getting his nuts squashed, Tomahawk pulled up lame in the first 5mins of the match and AstroNaught didn’t fire at all especially with Noble on his case from start to finish. The visitor’s backline didn’t let up, Wilkie had 15 big, contested marks, Wilmot cruised with 21 disposals and McGrath was solid as a tank. You would have thought watching the game today that the home side was in control and had their oppositions measure, however in a brain fade moment after celebrating an Errol goal, Bolton come from nowhere in the dying seconds to slot his first and claim victory for the visitors @fresh as the siren sounded. @fresh In the misty land of Nuytsland, two ancient clans, the Nuytsland Vikings and the Banchang Barcrawlers, had been locked in a fierce and bitter rivalry for centuries. The Nuytsland Vikings were descendants of fierce Norse warriors who had settled in the region long ago. Led by their valiant leader, English, they were a formidable force, known for their strength, courage, and legendary prowess in battle. The Vikings had made the graveyard their battleground, a place shrouded in an eerie atmosphere that only added to the tension of the impending clash. As the moon cast its ghostly glow on the tombstones, spirits of the deceased watched from the shadows, both fascinated and horrified by the unfolding spectacle. English stood tall, his long mane of blond hair and steely gaze inspiring both fear and respect among his men. Behind him stood his loyal lieutenants, Petracca, Newman, Libba, Warner, Duncan, Hurn, Shultz, Taylor, and Powell, all warriors of great repute. The Vikings bore their iconic battleaxes, ready to defend their honor and claim victory for their clan. On the other side of the graveyard, the Banchang Barcrawlers, a much smaller clan hailing from the distant town of Banchang, awaited their fate. Led by the cunning and strategic Uniacke, and supported by his trusted advisor, Dawson, the Barcrawlers were not as fearsome as the Vikings, but they compensated with their wit, agility and drinking ability. The clash began with a fierce battle cry from English, echoing through the tombstones. The Vikings rushed forward, battleaxes raised high, and the Barcrawlers met them with agility and finesse. The graveyard became a battleground of strength versus speed, and with each swing of the axe and dodge of the blade, the spirits winced and gasped at the intensity of the conflict. The Barcrawlers put up a valiant fight, but their smaller numbers proved to be their disadvantage against the mighty Vikings. English's strategic brilliance, coupled with the unwavering loyalty and coordination of his lieutenants, started to tip the scales in favor of the Nuytsland Vikings. Slowly, but surely, the Barcrawlers began to retreat. As the sun started to rise on the horizon, the Vikings gained the upper hand. The Barcrawlers, exhausted and outnumbered, surrendered, acknowledging their defeat. Uniacke and Dawson stepped forward, bowing their heads in respect to English, who nodded in return, acknowledging their bravery. The spirits of the graveyard, once filled with trepidation, now looked on in awe and admiration. The Nuytsland Vikings had emerged victorious, and their name would echo through the annals of history. The tale of the clash between the Nuytsland Vikings and the Banchang Barcrawlers became a legend, a story passed down through generations, reminding all who heard it of the courage and strength that could be found even in the unlikeliest of places. And as the spirits of the graveyard returned to their slumber, they knew they had witnessed one of the Vikings' greatest victories, a victory that would be etched in the history of Nuytsland forever. @eagle_eyed In a matchup that will live short in the minds of all who witnessed, Serengeti hosted the boys from Southern Cross for the penultimate round of the season. There was little to get excited about for the entire match although Jack Darling (125) did remind all viewers of his talents. Indeed, with the result all but gauranteed, conversations amongst the crowd quickly turned to murmurings around whether this was actually a contest at all. The rumour mill was in full swing, posing that part of the mid-season trade deal between the two clubs included a caveat that not only would all players involved in the deal, Lachie Neale (87), Sam Docherty (93) & Tarryn Thomas (60), coast through the matchup but that in return for the deal to go through, Southern Cross would ensure The Buff got the 4 points when the teams net and the Sandgropers organisation would be hosted in a private and excluse safari event. In the post match press conference, Sandgropers officials who were brave enough to front the media to answer questions around the saga were seen to cut the questioning short for 'prior appointments' but local news cameras caught glimpses of them being ushered into open top 4WD's along with the cheery players. For those playing along at home, @martyg has his Bunyips all but home over the Sandgropers but may not be putting up enough of a score to take advantage of any late fadeout by the Bulls. While up in Thailand, the Barcrawlers are having a tough time putting away a Monarchs team keen to finish the season on a high. @choppers still has 5 players to bring his team home strong but he'll need to close a 318 point gap that King Island have opened up and still have one player of their own to try and hold off the late comeback.
