Full Time at The Stadium and Korumburra, having maintained their lead, have run out winners over Bueng Kan 1320-1225.

The River Rats tried hard to catch up, but even with L D-U 152, Duggan 109, and Farrell 104 scoring large, the Blowies were just too strong along all lines, with Kelly 129 and Martin 100 leading the way....

    BOG:
    3... L D-U BKR 152
    2...Kelly KB 129
    1...Sexton KB 118

    BIG TAP:
Xerri KB def Miller BKR 96-80

@fresh out at the goldfields at it was all over when Ollie Wines' heart couldn't keep up with his body, after being subbed out at quarter time.
While there were a few more ifs and buts that may have played out, the end result was a comfortable win to the visitors

    upload_2024-5-19_21-52-49.png

The home side had some excellent performances, with 6 players across all lines managing to break the magical 100 points, but there were just too many passengers (and the aforementioned heart palpitation problem for O Wines) that have cost the side dearly. 20-20 hindsight would have seen the home side make up the difference in points that could have won them the game, but...

...the game would have been well-and-truly over if the visitors had named D Wilmot on field, rather than leave his ball magnetism in the magoos. It was a solid Cow Bay performance, something we're all becoming very accustomed to this year, with 5 centuries and a team average above 90 points.

The highlight of the game was the big tap, with both ruckmen putting on a show for the fans, and some silver-service delivery for their midfielders. in the end it was the local hero, O McInerney, Coolgardie taking home the biccies against the visiting N Moyle, Cow Bay, by 16 points, 120 to 104.

    The votes:
    3 - J Clark, Cow Bay, 151
    2 - J (Coleman Medal) Waterman, Coolgardie, 142
    1 - I Rankine, Cow Bay, 125

Next up sees Cow Bay passing by the shops on the way home to pick up some fly swats and Mortein, as they host the Korumburra Blowflys. Meanwhile Coolgardie are on for another Island holiday, taking on the (budgie) Smugglers of Christmas Island. Good Luck to all four teams.

What is going on here?! You'd be forgiven for thinking that was the new name for the home town Buffaloes with the amount of times it was heard proclaimed from the exasperated fans that filled The Crater for this matchup with the Armadillos.

In what would once by a keenly anticipated battle against a favourite foe to test our wares against the best, the most the locals can dish up currently is the occassional individual effort and a scrambled together 15 that barely resembles a team. Serious questions are starting to rumble about management's capability to steer a ship that should have enough quality to hold a better than .500 record. There were rumours post game that the coach had been seeking out Luke Beveridge for advice on where to go from here.

Despite being distracted early by how poor this Buffalo outfit had become, once the Armadillos realised this wasn't just a ploy to lull them into a false sense of security and they really are just that bad, the Ararat boys ran all over the Buffalo. An inspiring speach from the coach at half time that berated their poor early efforts was enough to inspire the likes of Treloar (144), Jackson (154) & Rowell (128) to ensure the consistent high level of performance the Ararat faithful had come to expect would be delivered on.

The end product of all that was an absolute thrashing for the home town team who left the ground amid a racus chorus of boos, wondering what the rest of the season will hold and whether it was already time to be starting to look toward season 2025.

Cormorants 1044 def Prairie Dogs 1019

It may have taken 10 weeks but the Comorants are finally on the board for 2024, notching up a tough win against the Prairie Dogs. Only time will tell whether this marks a new dawn for the young team or whether it was dumb luck based on the visitors having to play short but for at least one week the locals could go home happy after witnessing a rousing last quarter led by the second coming of Jesus/Gary Ablett (depending on your religion).

For much of the match the home side were the living definition of “meh”, pumping out plenty of scores in the 50s and 60s and even a couple of 15s whilst the visitors delivered solid performances from Jordon(114), Ward (82, despite kicking the ball the wrong way at one point, although it didn’t seem to matter), Battle (91) and Rayner (97).

But as the sun dipped (seemingly to match the home crowd’s mood who unfortunately had seen their share of “meh” for the year) the ageing veteran on the team, Dan Rioli, made the first tentative steps on the road to a famous victory and produced a solid 100. This was quickly followed by a 79 from Wardlaw and then the two young guns of the team sensed a momentum shift and rose to the occasion. When Day wasn’t pumping out clearances he was down back intercepting (142) while Jesus (do I need to even say his name?..138) torched the wings and through the centre of the ground handing out don’t argues like candy canes on Christmas and performing Micky McGuane on Anzac Day re-enactments. Ably supported by the big ruckman (112) the elusive 1000 points were passed.

In amongst all the excitement it was easy to forget the herculean effort from the remaining visitors still on the field. Ginbey (89), Barrass (113) and Oliver (124) would have done their fans proud as they fought against the turning tide until the final moments. But unfortunately for the Prairie Dogs this was not going to be their day and as the final siren blared the home crowd roared louder than has been heard in these parts before and the team song was belted out with gusto.

Full Time at Sapphire Coast Sporting Complex and the Bunyips have taken the win 1345 to 1097.
The midfields did well for the Whalers. However, poor kicking and defending gave away the game with 9 players for Eden scoring under 65.
Meanwhile Hardwick got a round-topping 180 while Houston got 148 in the backline and O'Brien 132 in the ruck.
With one round to go until the byes, it will be soon time for a good check of the list. As it is though, the club is in a much better position than last year. As are the Bunyips who could go 5-6 before the byes if they can roll Pakenham next week.
    BAFFU: Hardwick 3, Houston 2, O'Brien 1
    Giant Tap: O'Brien 132 def Briggs 62

Vikings vs Cudas (on behalf of @YAD69)

Ahoy mateys and landlubbers alike! Gather 'round as I spin ye a tale of the epic clash betwixt the mighty Groote Eylandt Barracudas and the ferocious Nuytsland Vikings in the ORFFU round 10 skirmish!

Avast ye! 'Twas a spectacle to behold, with more twists and turns than a drunken sailor on a stormy night. The Barracudas, with their fins flapping and their teeth gleaming, charged into battle like a tempest on the high seas. But alas, the Vikings, with their axes sharp and their beards braided, proved to be a fearsome foe indeed.

The match unfolded like a grand saga, with both sides trading blows like cannons in a naval bombardment. The Barracudas surged ahead with the grace of a schooner catching the wind, only to be met with the relentless onslaught of the Vikings, who fought like berserkers possessed by the spirits of Odin himself.

But fear not, dear readers, for in the end, 'twas the Vikings who emerged victorious, their victory cries echoing across the seven seas. Yet even in defeat, the Barracudas showed the spirit of true seafarers, their tails held high as they sailed back to their home port, ready to fight another day.

So raise a tankard of grog to the valiant warriors of both teams, for they have provided us with a tale for the ages, a saga of bravery, cunning, and a whole lot of mudslinging. Until next time, fair winds and following seas to ye all!

Midway through the third term and @Wolffy84 's Huskies, with 11 players to 8, have taken what appears to be an unassailable lead.
