Final Score: Eden 1053 vs Coolgardie 1279. Going for 2 wins in a row, the Whalers returned home. But found a Coolgardie side on a roll with 2 and now 3 wins. With Briggs insisting on his own private jet home and management deciding to go along with it, he ended up missing the game. Pilot ended up dropping him off at Narooma. Ah Chee stepped into the backup role and gave it a good try. But against McInerney, it wasn't that good. And that bolstered the Prospectors midfield as did Heppell playing a half-back rebound role. Best on ground for the Whalers was Acres whose reason for missing last week's game was simply "gone fishing". 'Bounce' Banfield has been doing well the last couple of weeks, finally finding his feet as a forward. Without making many changes, it seems like JPK's been able to bring out the potential of his side. It'll be interesting to see how they go this year. Next week they play Korumburra while we've got the top of the table Ararat. BAFFU: Heppell 3, Serong 2, McInerney 1 Giant Tap: McInerney 107 def Ah Chee 36
Bueng Kan River Rats 983 defeat Hughenden Prairie Dogs 978 Hughenden’s first home game for the season and the locals were expecting a fired up team to respond following to poor away performances but after a strong start they fell short by 5 points. Bueng Kan’s 13 player team’s best were Ellott (120) who could only kick goals this week, Alex Neale Bullen who did the same, supported in the backline by Duggan (104) and Miller (103) in the ruck. It was Parfitt’s (90) effort in the lightening and drenching rain in the last quarter that secured the win. The home side was consistent all day with only Rayner (112) providing something for the home fans to cheer about. It is obvious that Hughenden’s lack of ruck, several long-term injuries and average performing players will make it a long season. Bueng Kan’s win sees them back in the top 8 and hosting the Staghorn Flat Bulls with Hughenden on the road to Odin’s graveyard. In the rugged terrain "Odins graveyard" two mighty forces clashed in a battle. On one side stood the fierce Vikings, their armor adorned with intricate designs, wielding swords, axes, and shields that gleamed under the bright sun. On the other side were the Monarchs, led by their lord, a seasoned warrior surrounded by his knights, their armor shining in the light, ready to defend their honor and kingdom. The Vikings, known for their fierce and fearless nature, charged into battle with a ferocity that struck fear into the hearts of their enemies. Their swords, crafted with skill and precision, sliced through the air, finding their mark among the ranks of the Monarchs. Axes flew, cleaving through shields and armor with deadly accuracy, while spears were hurled with such force that they pierced through the thickest of defenses. The Monarchs, though outnumbered, fought with a valor befitting their noble lineage. The knights, mounted on powerful steeds, charged into the fray, their lances aimed true, striking down Viking warriors with a single blow. Swords clashed, sending sparks flying, as the two sides engaged in a brutal and bloody conflict. Despite the Monarchs' skill and determination, the Vikings proved to be too formidable a foe. Their knowledge of the land and their superior weaponry gave them the upper hand, and soon the tide of battle turned in their favor. The Monarchs, overwhelmed by the sheer force of the Viking onslaught, began to falter, their lines breaking under the relentless assault. The Vikings emerged as the victors, their enemies vanquished and their honor restored. The Monarchs, defeated but not broken, retreated from the field, their lord vowing to one day reclaim what was lost. The Monarchs licked their wounds, knowing that they had faced a foe unlike any other. Best 3.Heeney 147 2.McKay 137 1.Young 130 Big Tap English 124
Blanchetown Bunyips 958 def by Ararat Armadillos 1512 The Bunyips were looking forward to testing our boys against one of the best teams in the ORFFU. Perhaps they were awestruck as @insiders men strutted out of the bus like a bunch of smug bed bugs (Office reference ifkyk). Either way, the locals were left wondering what has gone so wrong with our season. It all started in the Ruck with big Maxy taking the Big Tap points absolutely dominating ROB 177 to 60. From there it was just domination all around the park. With the Armadillo defenders averaging 106.25 between them, Mids 108.5 and Fwds 85.25 it was a very impressive all round performance from the visitors. What a shit-show. Anyhow, moving on.... Round 3 Match Report Cow Bay 1,385 def Horsham 1,001 In a highly anticipated home game, the Cow Bay Crocs dominated the field against the Horsham Huskies, showcasing their scoring power with an emphatic victory and ending the match with a commanding margin of 384 points. For Cow Bay, Worpel led the charge with an outstanding performance in the centre square and put together a 150 point effort. He was ably supported by Sheezel rebounding out of defence who put together a 128 point effort. Clark also was seen intercepting at will and contributed 119 points. Taranto proved instrumental in midfield adding 128 points to the Crocs' tally while Bolton demonstrated his versatility playing in the centre this week and securing 119 points. Henry shone in the forward line adding 92 points, while PSD pick up Dempsey provided a valuable contribution of 86 points. For the Horsham Huskies, Drew stood out with an exceptional midfield display accumulating 135 points. Roberts also delivered a commendable performance in midfield, contributing 98 points to his team's efforts. Caldwell was a lone hand in front of the big sticks and added 99 points to the team. Unfortunately, 8 Huskies put in a below average performance and Reeves missing the plane also didn't help. Round 3 Match Report The Barracuda's finish on 1,312/15 87.5 defeating the Parasites on 1,055/15 70.3 Back on home turf unfortunately no Stanley and Tuohy but there’s still the confidence rose. The visitors have been solid so far and are looking for more on the road. In defence, Lloydy was outstanding with 32 possessions keeping the opposition in disarray, Weitering had 18 touches and was solid all day, Jake Kolodjashnij played the lose man in defence as decoy while Jeremy McGovern had 24 touches with big kicks out of defence. The Bont spent plenty of time up forward, kicking 3 goals, Corn Boy Cripps stepped up with 28 disposals. Oh, Errol had plenty of the ball however his disposals let him down. Up forward Tomahawk reached his milestone game of 350, booted 4 goals with only 12 touches. AstroNaught started deep, Mclean pinch hit in the ruck and the Magnificent Zork was on fire with his run and carry having 30 disposals. Off the bench, Sharp and Berry of the Jarrod flavour gave the home side fresh legs off the wing. The visitors were terrible up forward, young Darcy Wilson, started on the wing and floated to the forward line, Owens booted 1 and that was it, Darcy of the Sam kind is still finding his feet and Marshall was out played. Marshall smashed his way to 27 hit outs, however most were sharked by the home team and he gave away 5 frees! Settersfield was a late out and coach had no back-ups, Windhager did his best with 5 tackles however spent a lot of time on the pine. Butterball was quite to start ended up with 26 touches for the day, leaving Cerra to do the bulk of the work by himself. Moore ran with Kolo, Sinclair started on Weitering then move to the forward line and snatched one in the last quarter. JJ and Rivers were kept busy, especially in junk time. For the home team to take the 4 points is a confidence booster and coach @ddsaints was left scratching his head what went wrong from last week to this week? It was a dour affair in the battle of the bison @wrightbrendan Some equalization measures took part at the beginning of game with it being agreed that the Bulls, Long would play OOP, Lohmann be a sub and that Lynch would injury himself. This ensured a somewhat level field of 13 v 13 and a bit heads. Some individual performances were note worth with the Buffs Merrett and Neale leading the way for the travelling bison. For the home team it was McCluggage and the biggest bison of them all Soldo who raised the bat. The match was evenly poised going into the last quarter but despite the best efforts from the home crowd it was was the Buffs that held sway. Progress score from The Stadium, Bueng Kan. Bueng Kan lead Staghorn Flat 7/498 to 5/403, however the visitors seem to be coasting with TheBaggage 125, Soldo 92 off the bench, and new boy Lohmann 88, all performing and keeping their 7 Rats oppos to under 100 each. @tyze1
Early in the second quarter, the Anglers (361/6/61) lead @YAD69 's Barracudas (190/2/95) by 171 points.
In the first live match report to come from Flying Fish Cove Park in approximately 3 years (the communication tower was wiped out in a cyclone and only recently rebuilt under the Belt and Road Initiative), it’s the visitors in complete control, leading 854/9(94.8) to 351/6 (58.5). The home crowd is taking some consolation from SDK’s upcoming victory in the Big Tap against the Mulleted one’s 15, but otherwise it’s one-way traffic. @wrightbrendan
