Hughenden Prairie Dogs 1,188 def Pakenham Parasites 1,151

In a closely fought contest the visiting Hughenden outfit snuck home by 37 points.

The Parasites Marshall (106) dominated the younger P Dogs ruck in Emmett (44) with the midfield getting plenty of it, Butters (112), Anderson (95) and Windhager (92) pumping the ball forward. However without star forward Darcy due a season ending ACL last week, the forwards were not functioning as unit this week although Dary’s replacement Wilson (81) did his best.

The Hughenden backline was solid and has been a feature of their season so far with Mills (102), Battle (98), Ash (92) and IQ (90) combining well to repel attack after attack. Hughenden’s forwards were all at sea and lacking any cohesion in scoring.

The knee injury to Blicavs (13) just after half time was the defining point in the game, his all round flexibility was missed and the Parasites struggled to fill the void.

The Parasites will be frustrated not to win this one and are now a couple of games out of the 8, but still in touch. Hughenden remains in the 8 by percentage and is having its best start to a season for number of years.

Hughenden return home to take on the Serengeti Buffalos who sit in 9th place, a win behind Hughenden and the Parasites are on the road to take on the Plovers.

    3 Butters, Pakenham (112)
    2 Marshall, Pakenham (106)
    Oliver, Hughenden (106)

    Big Tap winner was Marshall
