i like Grimes but he's a big risk with injury took a long time to come in because of injury and has been wounded for a good stretch every season since so buyer beware imo.

Agree with crew and Brocky. The word for the year down at McHale's ghost is 'durability'.

It's just that Otto and Droopy offer so much value...

Looking into rookie options to use for D/F MPP. Talia is on the list again and I'm also looking at Retzlaff. Anyone got any news on him? What are his chances for gametime? Are there others that I should be looking into?

WIth most going the "cookie cutter" D1-3, and most having Otten and Heppell/rookie D6-7, the D4-5 will be the real make or breaker in defence this year.

For me its between Broughton, Duff, Grimes, Adcock.

At the moment Broughton and Grimes are locked in but the Duff-man could be an interesting POD. However if he gets a forward tag it could become a Shaw situation and &#60;50 scores. </blockquote>
Goddard, Gibbs, Deledio, Broughton, Grimes, Otten, Heppell?

"Cookie-cutter" back seven right there ;)

Who else has Puopolo and Duigan as well haha? I reckon Toy would be in a fair few teams also, which means my back line is almost universally owned haha

I'm guessing you found another player 180k-~450k that you wanted to take a punt on.

    OR an additional prem :)

I can imagine a number of people have the same backline but also having otten D7 with Heppell on bench if they chose to take a punt on Adcock/Drummond as well, or throw in another premium down back (Enright/Lake/even Shaw/Hurn) if starting a 2 prem rather than 3 prem midfield, which I think you mentioned you currently had in another thread.

I've got Hurn instead of Broughton atm cause I tend to look for potential improvement, even considering Chaplin as a real POD. Undecided on Adcock but if he's looking good next few weeks will probably take the punt.

    Not a bad idea Tylo.

While WC share their first bye with Melbourne and Sydney, one would think a team, at least in round5, is going to have less premiums to have to replace from those 3 teams as opposed to the round6 bye which Freo would have, so it should help spread your scores out a bit.

Similarly, Freo have their second bye as well during another multi round (melbourne+adelaide round 16, though that shouldn't be too bad) while the Eagles have theirs the week before by themselves.

    Just a small additional benefit.

That cookie cutter defence will cop a 0 round 16, mark my words!

For me its Bro+Hurn or Enright+Grimes.

    How so?

Melb-Freo-Crows(not very taxing in other positions, potentially 1 ruck and 2 forwards)

Okay defense wise(grimes/broughton/otten), that takes 3 bench spots to cover. That far into the season people should have their MPP's well and truly set up so that if any of the 'back' benches aren't playing for whatever reason, they should be able to switch in a midfielder or forward who is.

Also, while Grimes and Broughton would be keepers (if all goes well), Otten, at least in my own view, is there as a cash generator to be upgraded well and truly before then unless he really explodes.

I'm tossing up to put Heppell in MIDS which gives the MPP assist MID/DEF from day dot and also allow me an extra prem in DEF. I would be hoping to have him on the ground in any case so I'm thinking that it wont matter if its in DEF or MID.
