Anth....Terry......diplomat pouch arrived with nothing in it but cheese twisties.

Now I gots to say, I LOVE cheese twisties, and havent had them since last Feb, but some violet crumble and VB would be appreciated next time....and perhaps the teams for this w/end :)

Back to reality: Hanoi....nice moves mate.....already a better team. Next week we address the Mzu factor. Oh and Westhoff, I dont think he was actually born the normal way, pretty sure he grew out of some mulch in someones backyard. He & Mzu can bugger awf next week me thinks....

Anth....whats going on with ur rucks specifically?

spm67.....Bucks Fizz right ?

You dont need any advice from me....opening rd of 2338 is very solid mate.

Having a quick look at your team, can see nothing that needs to change. But you do have the same problem we all have this week......Who starts and who goes to the bench. We've been going back & forth on this all week in another thread...but at the end of the day there is no way to guarantee picking the right guys.

I think Terry is the only real diff. maker here, if I recall he is benching Tappy/Darling...most others seem to be going the general consensus picks.

Personally I have no idea, but my 'guess' is:
* Stanley over Toy/Duigan/others
* Swallow over Harris over ALL others
* Tappy/Darling over Matera/Dixon/Richo but thats a crapshoot

With Big Charlie only owned in 3.5% of teams, would love to put him on the field as a POD agst the 30% of Matera, Darling, Richo but not sure I have the cajones.

Cheers Simon - I agree, who starts and who warms the pine is the big dilemma this week.

I was trying to be facetious with the team advice, though unfortunately it didn't come across in written form.....lol.

Good luck this weekend to all.

Cheers,

Bucks Fizz

where do i start... lol

during preseason, i was tossing up between two ruck combos for my team.

Sandi, Fraser, JTippett and a cheapie
or
Sandi, Cox, Jtippett, and a cheapie

to do the latter, i had to go with a rookie in mid over Foley who i was keen on. but definitely last picked player in my team.

and to do the former, my cheapie had to play R1 to cover fraser.

anyway. thurs night - keefe and Moran were emergencies, and spencer and Bellchambers were on extended benches - all 4 would have been good price for my Fraser optiion to work.

then come friday night - none were named... so I had to trade out Fraser. but couldnt do the sex on the beach thing because Foley had already played! :(

I wanted McEvoy, but to get him, i had to lose JTippett (who i wanted for future mpp), and I had to downgrade Markovic to Pitt - which i didnt want to do.

ended up downgrading Tippett to Smith... lost mpp option, but gained valuable $$. and I changed Fraser into Seaby - as he was the best option i thought for the $ i had avail...

after lockout, i regretted it immediately. and wished i had have just copped the zero in r1, and looked forward to having Fraser in R2...

then Sydney went and made Seaby their sub, and he didnt come on until 4th q.

Toi make matters worse - Foley was crook and scored 25 - and Cox had no opponent and scored 165!

absolutely spuin!

and now they have dropped Seaby!!

luckily i have Smith to cover this week before i say goodbye! just hope Cox doesnt inflict any more pain!

Hey Ant - giving me heaps of deja vu there. Rather than enter into a complex solution that is bound to be forthcoming once he finishes his Twisties, I would simply say, sit tight. Take it on the chin for a few rounds and NO more trading until R6.

@Hanoi
While I generally agree with Mr. Twisty, in the case of Westhoff, I do not. IMO your now having NRoo considerably strengthens your FWD line, taking some of the pressure off Westy. With the injury to Schultz, Westy has to stand up more as the go to FWD. His R1 Game was okay in a well beaten side. In v. early pre-season chatter on here, Lucas mentioned Westy as a possible for a breakout, or could be a complete spud. Given that view, and the fact you already have him, he should at least be given a chance. The FWD line is always the most inconsistent in SC, so a good week from Westy when everyone else's Buddy is having an off day could be to your advantage. And, if you are still unconvinced, the LTI to Brown and LeCras moves Westy up the pecking order of choices.

@Simonoz

Sorry about the mix up. Will try to send Jaffas or Fantales next time, along with the teams. By way of a quick summary, the issues you need to be concerned about this week are:

Gibbs is being rested this week and won't be making the journey to QLD. A. Swallow has been named as the sub while Geelong are adamant that Selwood will start. Cox was reported in the press as saying he felt a twinge in his hammy during last week's game, while Goodes has been named in the ruck for Sydney.

Have a good one.

Mr Twisty.....LOL.....KMS....thats an iAcronym I learnt this week from a kid over here ~ Killing me Smalls; had to keep it to myself that I thought it was a Karen Carpenter reference, killing me softly....guess its an age thing.

Anth...will refrain from any lengthy prose...just fix it this week mate, time to move on.

Bucks...now if only I had looked at the SC schedule I might have figured out your cunning ploy, alas I'm not that clever :)

And you Mr Bangkok, the only reason I blab on so much is that it gets lonely in here during the day. I was hoping that the Expats would be on my sched. whilst Melbourne sleeps ~ but I still sit in the forums in daylight hrs here talking to myself :) I guess it could be me.......nah.......

One game done, another draw ~ wow. Godds just serviceable, Dids did what we expected, Roo....meh, but I'll take close to a hundy in the fwd line. Hayes in big trouble with that knee too. Bucks I think we have 18/22 same starters if I recall....gonna be fun watching those last 4 players. And Newman, back to back +130's one to be on alert for now...

Good morning (or evening, as the case may be).

From the weekend action; Twisties & SC don't mix. And indeed it is an age thing - Killing Me Softly was Roberta Flack and was written in response to James Taylor. Ant has decided to rejoin the mob, aided by a handy 84 from Zac and a day out from Delicious. [And Ant, when doing your sums this week, please have a long hard think about Warnock if you can't get to Paddy].

But the Helbig score of the round goes to Husslah with a mighty 2430. That pushes our benchmark way beyond 2300 folks.

Next week Simonoz is going to join the chat on TS Live, so everyone remember to talk to him or he'll be dribbling in his Twisties.

*as I brush away the twistie crumbs from the keyboard*

Damn Terry.....I have dementia at such a young age...or I just dont recall such feminine songs as others ~ not that theres anything wrong with that :)

Round TWO Review:

* We find ourselves ranked 58th so far in our quest for World Domination with a weekly average this round of 2244, nice work boys....As this is the EXPAT LEAGUE, I'm going to TRY and do this via locale as opposed to your username, pls let me know if I'm wrong anywhere:

1. Hanoi (1869) goes down to Sri Lanka (2261)
2. NYC (2259) goes down to PNG (2335)
3. Italy (2265) goes down to Dubai (2287)
4. Nebraska (2213) goes down to San Diego (2430)
5. Norway (2277) goes down to Oz/Anth (2345)
6. Montreal (2290) goes down to Japan (2369)
7. Bangkok (2202) goes down to Singapore (2385)
8. Chiang Mai (2164) goes down to Zurich (2301)

After two Rds, we have 5 teams undefeated, and 5 teams without a win...so yes, 6 teams 1-1 :)

Special shout out to San Diego ( Husslah) for a weekly score of 2430, ranked #358 for the week and our resident Aussie Anthak who, riddled with Ruck issues (thats R not F) came out in Rd two and beat his previous score by over 220 pts.

Despite all of the turmoil and worst fortune, Japan (Dikileaks) is our leading overall scorer and is ranked 768 overall...seems kinda just to me.

As always, advice to other teams is appreciated in this league to help us all gain steam....we dont have to beat each other up just yet ~ WW4 can wait a couple of months.....

Another stinker of a week for me, but Messrs Goddard and Selwood must take some of the blame. Could do with some advice on next week.

I would love to get rid of Mzungu and either Westy/Watts and replace with Liberatore (what a player he's going to be) and Tapscott, but its really Goddard as my captian who is killing me. Shall I swap him for Swan or stick with it for awhile?

Hey Neil,

I'm no expert, but I can throw a few ideas out here that those elites in the top 8 can comment on.

Think the team has too many mid-priced players who are not delivering. Also, the last 2 rounds have benefited people with GnR.
DEF: Stratton, Astbury, Krakouer. Maybe hold Stratton, but ditch the other 2 (ask for suggestions on here when the time comes).
MID: Sidebottom, Kennedy, Lucas. Maybe hold Sidebottom, but ditch the other 2 (a bold move would be to go bang on both Libba/Curnow and bank the cash).
RUC: Hale - keep only to fatten and later downgrade. Jamar has me worried and I am already looking at Warnock. Still, Jamar should at least give you 80s.
FWD: Watts into Tapscott.

Apart from the obvious ones that need to be made before the price rise, suggest adopting a longer-term strategy for moving the others on with specific targets (such as maybe Kennedy into Bartel). If you took the bold move proposed above, look at whether you would then have enough cash to get to Swan the following week. Otherwise some of the remaining rookies you have are all good prospects.

Goddard is a keeper, he is not yet captain material. Your captain choices should be (in order): Pendlebury, Watson, Cox. Pendles should be a good choice for this week. When you are sure Selwood has fully recovered, he should also be an option.

Cheers,

And.........not only did Ant make a huge comeback in SC, he also scored a perfect 8 in the tipping. Should be a Big Whopper in the bag this week Simonoz.

Didn't quite get 8 terry. Missed the draw!

Hi neil.
Firstly, goddard is a keeper. Dont waste a trade with him. You will get swan at some stage, but you will have to be patient I reckon. Wait for him to have a bad game or two and his price will drop. You prob could downgrade one of your midpricers and upgrade another to swan, but I reckon bringing in two rookies this week should be the priority. This is the best time to make a bit of cash. But in saying that, grab swan in now if you are keen, as he is on fire and I would hate for you to get upset about all the points he scores because you didn't follow your gut.

If I was you I would enter your team into your profile, and then have a look in the stats page to see if any of your midpricers are likely to drop in value this week. Preferably a midfielder so that you can get libba (or swan) as you suggested yourself. I would actually hold onto muzungu for a bit - unless of course all your midpricers look to be going up in value. Tapscot is a must imo, and your idea of watts to him looks a good one I reckon.
Prob the wrong spot to mention this, I dont mean to rub it in, but I went to the hawks demons game on sunday, and Tapscot looks to be a gun, and a must for sc (this week obviously, for whoever doesn't have him); whereas watts, despite the preseason hype, looked a bit lost, and made some silly skill errors.
Anyway, hope that helps, but i'm just on a mobile phone now. I'll have a better look tomorrow when on a pc.

Who do people think would be a better option to downgrade this week: foley or krakouer?
I haven't had a chance to check out the stats page myself yet, but still keen to get peoples general thoughts before I do...

Hanoi.....if I recall you wnated Tappy last week right but did the lecras & whitecross trades right ?

I'd go Watts out for Tappy, and Mzu out for Libba...it strengthens both the mids & fwds with rooks who are playing VERY well and will make you some nice coin to later on, as suggested by Tibby above, start to weed out the non performing mid pricers....

Anth....I've wanted to trade out Krak all week (hahaha its only Tuesday) but with his MPP, I'm going to need him I think ~ my man love for Luke Shuey who I'd been eyeing will have to be put to bed...not literally!!!

I'm not a fan of Foley at all, and I'm assuming your eyeing the golden boys Libba/Curnow.

Irons/Conca/Foley/Bewick...take you pick. I think Bewick is a must out, will be a DT specialist this year...the other is a flip of the coin.

(think I'm talking to myself again....la la laaaa)

This Rioli suspension has really screwed me this week...all the planning in the world with the byes thrown out the window by a nudge to the gut. $hit !

Big Charlie Dixon ~ come on down......(gulp)

just caught up on about a weeks worth of posts. Looks like you guys have really done the makeover on HHawks - love your work!

@Anthak - loved that you smashed it for the Expat league this week, but the pineapple you dished out to me in the Donor cash league hurt big time! :)

I still haven't managed to catch a game other than on MMM radio - anyone else not seen any games?? If only channel 7 not showing the blockbuster live this week was my issue.

Thinking of going Atley to Libba and Schneider to Curnow this week to rake in some $$$. I will loose my Mid - Fwd MPP link but will trade down for that later. What is everyone else doing.

Go the expat league!!

@Terry - thanks for the Thailand weather warning in June/July - might need to rethink that trip.

Morning all,

great advice coming from everyone here. I'm certainly no expert and fly week to week, but for what it's worth HH I concur with Terry, Anth and Simon - have to bring in Curnow and Tapscott.
