@Weazel - if the Pop makes the CC cut then definitely worth a few bob each way - will give an honest effort!!!

And here's some food for thought - Corey Brown looks to be the hoop to keep an eye on over the carnival - 4 rides today for 2 good winners!!!

Now the interest is in the Plate after Pierro showed he probably won't stay the journey - will be a cracking pace for the entire race and I just don't think he would handle that - could the Frenchman keep his Oz streak going with either Americain or Shahwardi???

Interesting betting moves for the Plate:

    Sportingbet Cox Plate changes - Sincero 20 to 18, More Joyous 7.50 to 11, Pierro 2.15 to 3, All too Hard 41 to 6.50, Shawardi 251 to 41, Epaulette 51 to 26

Green Moon at anything better than $3 looks pretty good value to me atm, although am still happy to have Happy Trails flying under the radar :) Just a pity Solzy didn't accept during the week in light of today's top effort :(

just a pity I decided Epaulette was far less risky than Solzy!! Bad coin toss again dummy.

Ocean Park is the one to beat in the Cox Plate for mine, but I am biased.

Wasn't too convincing today Chels, just fell in and with another 20m would've been lucky to get 3rd!!!

Still say Green Moon hard to toss, Happy Trails value, imports the danger!!!

reckon he'll go the extra 40 metres Bear. Clean up run today after 3 weeks off and a couple of brush ups. Will strip fitter in a fortnight.

But, differences in opinion are what make a market!

@Chels - I have no doubt at all that Ocean Park will easily stay the journey of the Plate, but the one thing that does concern me a little with him is the simple fact that he will be up against a much classier field than he had to contend with yesterday (and bigger field)!!!

Will also be meeting a much tougher lot than he held out in the Naturalism a few weeks ago - but all that being said, he is still in the mix for me, and should still be able to get a bit of value with punters still looking like sticking with Pierro despite his performance yesterday.

The only thing I can see in Pierro's favour really is the fact that he only has to carry a postage stamp of 49kg under the WFA conditions, but the Plate is not really the best race to try a 3yo out in his first WFA attempt IMPO!!!

Here's the rundown for tomorrow form @1Selection2Win's Facebook page - he always posts his selections there the afternoon before the races to enable his followers to get the early market prices!!!

    BEST BET

    CAULFIELD

    Race 8 No: 10 PRACTICED

    Speed: Solid Tempo

    Danger: Menados (2) & Whisper Downs (5)

Third run into this preparation should make him cherry ripe for today’s race over the 2000 metres. This race will be run at a solid tempo with four known leaders in the race with Onerahi Bay and So You Think coming from there wide barriers will make sure there will be no loathing in the first half of the race. Apres will be hunted up to keep the converted rails with Commanding Time pushing forward from his barrier as well. With the early speed can see Practiced slotting into a nice position in the run settling midfield with a cosy run can get the breaks when turning home and get clear running room will finish it off and he does have his hoof on the till again. He does meet Whisper Downs 4.5kg turnaround in weight from his last start Head x Head margin. Menados was disappointing in his last start performance he does drop back from Listed Class Race to a Benchmark 82 Ratings Race. HARD TO BEAT

    PRICE: $3.80

    EXTRA MAIL

    CAULFIELD

Race 5 No: 2 FREE WHEELING

    Speed: Nice Even Tempo

    Danger: Morant (6)

Free Wheeling has trialled well for his return to racing winning a trial at Rosehill over the 1050 metres; the stable has always had a big opinion of him. Was scratched from Rosehill on Saturday to be kept for this race. On jumping I can see him getting the run of the race just sitting of the early speed from Petman and Flat Chat about two or three pairs back in the running line with his main danger Morant sitting on the fence. Free Wheeling should be able to track into the race from the turn peeling off the early leaders back and finish hard down the centre off the track to start this campaign with a win. Watch for market moves on track if any follow.

    EARLY PRICE: $4.40

    CAULFIELD GUINEAS SELECTION

Race 6 No: 9 MOLTO BENE

    Speed: Good Tempo

Dangers: Maybe Discreet (9), Love For Ransom (11), Dazzler (13)

Where do you start with the form with this race, it’s the most open Thousand Guineas for sometime. I have selected Molto Bene on top as she has the most improvement in my eyes from all the lead up races that have raced. Trainer has decided to trial her at Cranbourne 25 days ago to keep her up to the mark instead off another lead up run. Drawn barrier five she want have to be as far back, can see her just settling off the pace midfield getting a nice run in transit. When turning for home all she needs is a ounce of luck, if she get’s clear running room from the top of the straight she will be finishing it off as she is crying out for the distance. Maybe Discreet is the filly that also will be getting a nice run in the race, with the added bonus she has won at the distance twice. Connections of Love For Ransom must be crying with the barrier (15) she has for today’s race as she has to be ridden for luck , she will have to come from the tail of the field, she will be hoping for a fast run race so the backmarkers can finish it off at the back end of the race. The filly that hasn’t had the best of luck in her two previous starts is Dazzler where she hasn’t had the clearest of room at the business end of procedures where she has been blocked for runs on those occasions any luck she could be the one that wins at a nice price of $15.00. Very hard race if you have your own selection don’t drop off as there is up to six to eight winning chances in the race, I think when the race is over we will be hearing a lot of hard luck story after the race.

    PRICE: $4.40
