<p style='color: #444444; margin-bottom: 10px; background: #fcfcfc;]So what happens if you take Ablett out of your SC team? I did decided to find out. This is what I came up with. I am not fully convinced yet, but not that unhappy with the results either.
<p style='color: #444444; margin-bottom: 10px; background: #fcfcfc;]Perhaps there are enough DEF cheapies this year to swing a 4th into the mix. For my SC team's current structure I certainly hope so.
<p style='color: #444444; margin-bottom: 10px; background: #fcfcfc;][span style='font-size: 14px; background-color: #fcfcfc;]I'm counting Smith/Gibson as DEF keepers, with Newnes/Higgins hopefully good enough to stay onfield all season and not miss out on too many points compared to other DEFs. 4 MID keepers plus a mid-pricer (Bontempelli) with a lot of upside, seems like the best way to splash the Ablett cash around at the moment. Finally 2 RUC keepers and[span style='font-size: 14px; background-color: #fcfcfc;]3 FWD keepers plus a fallen premium (Swan). That could amount to 14.5 keepers (optimistically), which I'm happy enough with for now.
<p style='color: #444444; margin-bottom: 10px; background: #fcfcfc;]My bye structure is currently 8-11-11 which works OK. After R11, trade out 3 guys with a R12 bye for players with a R11 bye, then after R12 trade out 3 players with a R13 bye, etc. Should only have 8 missing due to byes on any given week, leaving two further slots at risk due to injured/dropped players.

<p style='color: #444444; margin-bottom: 10px; background: #fcfcfc;][span style='font-size: 14px; background-color: #fcfcfc;]Just to repeat the ground rules for RMT:
<p style='color: #444444; margin-bottom: 10px; background: #fcfcfc;]1. In order to get feedback on your own team, you must first provide feedback on the teams that have been recently posted. This is the golden rule and is what makes this whole thing work.
<p style='color: #444444; margin-bottom: 10px; background: #fcfcfc;]2. If you just post your team without giving any feedback, your post will be deleted.
<p style='color: #444444; margin-bottom: 10px; background: #fcfcfc;]3. Please refrain from commenting on teams that have been posted by others that have not followed the golden rule.
<p style='color: #444444; margin-bottom: 10px; background: #fcfcfc;]4. Keep it civil. Constructive criticism is fine. But there is a line and please don't cross it.

Good Jason. Had a very enjoyable year in the foreknowledge that $50k would do little to improve my financial position.

Simpson/Ibbo might be nice pods warsaken. Who would get the 'c' out of Pendles/S'wood? Ruck looks solid.

Doubts on Salem (see above) and Steele (see RMT P.1).

You must have saved a packet by not going with either of Ablett or Rockliff, but can't really see where you have spent it. Robbie Gray was my first player picked - but that's just me. Don't like the contract cloud over Danger and think Sloane/Crouch could be better options at that price. Have you counted your keepers?

Big thumbs down from me Grave for the lack of faith in Robbie - absolute lock who if anything will do better this year :p

Beware of Jacobs, has had an injury interupted pre-season hence why O'Brien has been getting plenty of game time in NAB to date.
Been turned off Salem myself after reviewing his games and listening to others.
Doubts over Treloar and Danger being top 10 mids (Griffen would eat into Treloars points a bit and Danger contract impasse creates uncertainty around him). Would be looking to downgrade one of them to Upgrade Salem to Gray tbh

Lever is a long shot for R1 and Maynard is not exactly a lock either. We all need more DEF rookies to step up I guess.

Do you think Brayshaw can average 80+ straight up? He would kind of need to at his price to be worth the upfront investment. Not convinced he is going to come out of the blocks at that sort of SC scoring.

Problem I see with Cockatoo isn't that he is an explosive and exciting option, but that he is by that very nature the perfect vest candidate for the first half of the season. Also not necessarily worth the upfront $$ over some of the other options. I am wavering on Anderson in my own team for much the same reason, although the investment is a bit cheaper there.

What is it about Deledio that you think has more upside than Martin? I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on this.

You say that, but Melbourne had put the cue in the rack for the second half.

Despite that, Salem still score 40% of his (DT) points in the second half.

I think for his price, he's well worth a look.

Guess we'll see how he goes tonight against the topups.

I'm expecting a minimum of 430pts a week from my 6 defenders at a cost of roughly 2.3mill (for all 8). At a minimum you must be spending 2.7mill (more likely 3mill+) for what expected average? 500? Considering the top 10 defenders averaged 93.5 last year it couldn't be more then that. Granted I'm not expecting my mid pricers to maintain an average of 70 but there is that possibility for a cheaper price! I think as bad as the backs are this year 400k at D6 is crazy :p

I wasn't convinced about Walesy's idea of dropping Abblett but then I did some research. The top ten starting price Supercoach players over the past five years have not done well in gaining ground over the year - in fact there has only been four! I've just dropped him! I don't want to bore you with stats but here they are

Will likely not look much like this come R1, but interested in comments on some of the choices here.

DEF: Malceski, H. Shaw, Jaensch, Newnes, Ibbotson, Saad, Goddard, J. Kolod
MID: Ablett, Beams, Sloane, Crouch, de Goey, Cockatoo, Heeney, Lambert, Freeman, Dumont, Amon
RUC: Lobbe, Lycett, Nankervis
FWD: Gray, Goddard, Swan, L. Taylor, J. Martin, Lennon, Membrey, Clark

$8,600 in the bank.

Like the team wars, can always swap rookies around come round 1. Probably a bit light on in the fwds for me, however with Bonts DPP you could argue it's covered. I like the mids and think Danger and Treloar offer massive reward (and risk) at the start of the season. My team has them in and out at the expense of other lines on a daily basis.

backs solid ibbo injury risk clancee a chance for same improvement if fit
Mids Big ? over Ablett atm Beams new club rich, redden, christensen added to rocky i would prefer to wait rooks who knows at this stage
Ruc Lobbe i'd be worried about ryder affecting scoring like lycett with NN injury history
Fwds gray yes goddard should hold value Taylor can't see consistent high scores would imagine less mid time this year & J Martin def upside would be sub scores & injury in last years awkward price though

In summary too many risks but martin & lycett worth a look

you do need to look at the season finish price v the new starting price among other things but looking at that they are more than likely to drop in price

Interested on what others think of value between Swallow at 500K and Griffen at 530K.

Haven't seen Swallow in too many teams but he is the one player this year who has been in and out of my team at least a dozen times so far.

They both offer value but do you think they can regain old form and be in top 6 a years end i think they will both go close

Don''t know how to get this post back in the right thread but for what it's worth over the last 5 years -
45% of players who have played more than 8 games in the previous year go up in value and their average age is 23.
55% of players who have played more than 8 games go down and their average age is 25.
Now if only we could predict which ones this applied to we would be on a winner - this really is a useless bit of information
