<p style='color: #444444; margin-bottom: 10px; background: #fcfcfc;]So what happens if you take Ablett out of your SC team? I did decided to find out. This is what I came up with. I am not fully convinced yet, but not that unhappy with the results either.
<p style='color: #444444; margin-bottom: 10px; background: #fcfcfc;]Perhaps there are enough DEF cheapies this year to swing a 4th into the mix. For my SC team's current structure I certainly hope so.
<p style='color: #444444; margin-bottom: 10px; background: #fcfcfc;][span style='font-size: 14px; background-color: #fcfcfc;]I'm counting Smith/Gibson as DEF keepers, with Newnes/Higgins hopefully good enough to stay onfield all season and not miss out on too many points compared to other DEFs. 4 MID keepers plus a mid-pricer (Bontempelli) with a lot of upside, seems like the best way to splash the Ablett cash around at the moment. Finally 2 RUC keepers and[span style='font-size: 14px; background-color: #fcfcfc;]3 FWD keepers plus a fallen premium (Swan). That could amount to 14.5 keepers (optimistically), which I'm happy enough with for now.
<p style='color: #444444; margin-bottom: 10px; background: #fcfcfc;]My bye structure is currently 8-11-11 which works OK. After R11, trade out 3 guys with a R12 bye for players with a R11 bye, then after R12 trade out 3 players with a R13 bye, etc. Should only have 8 missing due to byes on any given week, leaving two further slots at risk due to injured/dropped players.

    <p style='color: #444444; margin-bottom: 10px; background: #fcfcfc;][span style='font-size: 14px; background-color: #fcfcfc;]Just to repeat the ground rules for RMT:
<p style='color: #444444; margin-bottom: 10px; background: #fcfcfc;]1. In order to get feedback on your own team, you must first provide feedback on the teams that have been recently posted. This is the golden rule and is what makes this whole thing work.
<p style='color: #444444; margin-bottom: 10px; background: #fcfcfc;]2. If you just post your team without giving any feedback, your post will be deleted.
<p style='color: #444444; margin-bottom: 10px; background: #fcfcfc;]3. Please refrain from commenting on teams that have been posted by others that have not followed the golden rule.
<p style='color: #444444; margin-bottom: 10px; background: #fcfcfc;]4. Keep it civil. Constructive criticism is fine. But there is a line and please don't cross it.

Really a toss of the coin on lids/dusty. Just happened to land on lids side.

Word is Gregson is putting his hand up to play early games, and I feel he'll get the green vest.

I have gone with the more expensive rucks and rookies, which has eaten up a fair chunk of the money saved on GAJ/Rocky. With GAJ a querie on his shoulder and Rocky spreading the points more with Beam/Bundy coming in (although hanley is out for a while...), I feel that while they are great scorers, there is more risk to picking them this year and they do not represent as much value as others.

Also C/VC whould probably just depend on who is playing first, and loophole with Read if VC goes well.

I'm sure that there *is* value lower down the price range, but

      a) It's hard to pick, and
      b) There looks to be *better* value on the other lines.

      Time will tell though :D

Haven't heard anything about his Achilles affecting him this pre-season whereas there's been talk of Griffen's back.

Danger/Swallow/Steven are the ones floating around my team at M5 atm based on other team structure

That is very interesting reading. Gaz and Rocky have for the first time left my team and this perhaps confirms my decision?

Both really good value this year IMO. I have had both mostly but have dropped Swallow for the minute for balance.

A few PODs in there TiB.
For me, eski is a bit like Gray. Overpriced but will end up being top 10 in that line.
Jaensch could be a great pick, esp if Martin gets more mid time, Jaensch should be able to lock into that HBF role.
Agree Ibbo is a risk, but at that price point there is bound to be risk. Plenty of others to suck us in around that range i.e. Geary, Hendo, Sheppard. Hendo my pref atm.
I reckon 4 deep in mids is too shallow, but I see the intent.
Cant see Taylor or Lennon making any decent coin.
Love the Amon pick, hope he sees some early games but has his work cut out to compete with Mitchell, Krak and Moore.

      Solid stuff wars.
Can't argue much with what u put up.
fwiw I think ur M 7-10 is collectively too much investment.
I'd be inclined to downgrade Bray and Cocky to cheaper rooks and use the cash to make ibbo a $470K+ def.
Round 1 rooks will no doubt throw plenty of proposed structures into turmoil.

Brayshaw has had no NAB and probably wont play for some weeks and then he'll get the Roos ( give it to the newbies ) vest - will probably pay to wait a while for him

      Ok be at it.

Def - Kelly, Newnes, Yarran, Lumumba, Edwards, Goddard (Byrne, Saad)
Mid - Pendles, Fyfe, Beams, Griffen, Swallow, Steven, Cripps, Heeney (Steele, Vanden, Krak)
Ruck - Maric, Nic Nat (Read)
Fwd - Bartel, Dusty, Swan, Bonti, Clark, Hogan (Lamb, Lambert)

Only $6K in the bank. Cripps potentially downgraded if need more cash come rnd 1

Interesting DEF rookie selections. Goddard didn't play NAB3 and seems unlikely to be named for R1. Byrne has been flying under the radar, do you have any mail on his prospects?

You have quite a few 'almost' keeper players in your squad. Newnes, Yarran, Lumumba, Swallow, Steven, Naitanui, Swan, Bontempelli. Do you reckon all 8 can step up to keeper scoring level this year? In my team above I am punting on 4 guys in this bracket, whereas you have twice as many. This is my main concern for your team.

For every one of those 8 who either stays the same or even slips a bit on 2014 form, that is another upgrade trade that you will need to look at during 2015. Which is a few too many in my view.

Thanks Jase, yep agree those almost keepers are dominating my team. Of these 8, Yarran and Steven have me on the fence still. Yarran selection is purely on nab form and Steven is just gut feel based on potential points on offer with Lenny gone. I think Yarran could be top 10 def but Steven prob not a keeper.
Eade has claimed that Saad and Miller will line up rnd 1 so Cripps may become Miller and Steven into Wines or Danger.
No mail on Byrne really, wait and see who they elevate. Wood looks a cert to get elevated. Carlton play first game so that helps with rook choices.

Like everyone else, its far from the final team, but these are the cards I'm currently holding.

      DEF: B Smith, J McGovern, J Newnes, H Lumumba, L Dalgleish, S Edwards, J Hamling, A Saad
      MID: S Pendlebury, D Beams, R Sloan, J Kennedy, R Griffen, N Cockatoo, I Heeney, B Boekhorst, T Dumont, T Miller, N Drummond
      RUCK: S Mumford, N Naitanui, T Nankervis
      FWD: D Martin, D Zorko, J Westhoff, D Swan, M Clark, J Hogan, P Karnezis, K Lambert

      Bank: $81,600

I think Gazza and Rocklobster are overs - they'll be upgrade targets.
Mummy is not necessarily a keeper, just looking at his good first few rounds.
Gray is also overs, but an upgrade target.
Mid rookies are the most fluid area I've got...

      All feedback welcome.

No major structural issues that stand out.

Zorko is the one that I am least sure about from your top-priced selections. Will he play enough in the guts in 2015 to maintain his scoring level from 2014? Hard to be sure, with Beams and Christensen arriving at the club and expected improvement from Rich. I don't see much upside for Zorko, might hold his form at best.

Bye structure looks pretty good, 9/11/10.

Thanks Jason. I'm also a little worried about D Beams for the same reason - I'm not sure how they'll all score together when the real stuff starts!

Thanks Grav. Krak will replace Amon I expect as he looks in front at the moment (Amon not picked today). But he is a future gun.

Very little love out there for Lewis Taylor (except for me and ORFFA Jason). All that Bris mid talent has to feed somebody. Bit uncomfortable having 2 fruit tingles in mids, tempted to go Wines over Crouch.

Thanks weaze - some useful thoughts there.

Might drop some points early with GAJ, but Beams looking okay so far. Don't think Paddy will steal too many of Lobbe's points (lots of tackles), but Redden might. Coach is toying with the idea of playing all 3 to free up Westhoff.

      Risk and reward.

Appreciate Jason's views, but, dunno - I like it. I see balance. Kelly could be up for one last dance.

Only ? would be over Steele. He's got a bit, but according to our resident Giant, is likely to end up trade bait.
