Something else to think about is without the byes we may only have 30 players and 20 trades again.

Pendlebury, Murphy and Thomas would be right up there at the top of my list.

Footy Barometer up! John Brown on my radar, if he has a full pre season and looks fit..... he'd be a good player to pick up at a cheap price, currently at 330k now an could drop more by the end of season...I hate the 30 players and 20 trades, I like the 3 back ups in each position and 2 in rucks, it works really well, and quite often sides only have 1 player in there reserve playing in a week, if they take that 1 spot away some weeks we'll be stuck without a reserve....33 players is more chalenging becasue you still have the 10 mill, 10 mill for 30 players isn't too hard, there has to be a challenge somewhere in the game imo...the sub isn't enough, without the byes they should keep the 3 reserves and 33 players

I'm hoping it goes back to usual. Its a formula that has worked well for years in DT and SC and was only changed for the byes. No byes means they should just revert back to normal.

Would like to see something done about the subs though.

Daniel Cross would be another good buy, at 370k now, and could drop more before season's end. Barlow, Hayes, Cross all look to get cheapa lot of bargains for SC next year, Didak too.

Think this thread might be going a bit early, but in any case, just a reminder that next year's prices aren't based on this year's prices, but this year's averages (plus an injury discount where applicable).

Subject to the performances for the remainder of the season and subsequent pre-seasonn, I'd be looking at Bower (1 game, avg. 9), McIntosh (0,0), and Mitch Morton (3, 57).

Probably only consider Morton if he changed clubs. Again.

thoughts on nick riewoldt? will probably be under 400k next year and lenny hayes back in the side will help. Also thinking of Zac Smith and Kruezer in the ruck.
Maybe even Tom Scully, who will be in his 3rd year. Dont know if he going to GWS (if he does) will affect his scores.

Yeah, same. I would like to have something like perhaps if an on-field player is a sub. They take the best score between the sub and your emergency.

Or maybe even adjust the scoring system for a sub. Live a percentage or have some ratio where it takes into account "time in the game" and give a better score based on a ratio, so it doesn't screw people around as much, and doesn't give a bad reflection on the values of players either.

Some of the melbourne young guns look like becoming premiums. Jordie Mckenzie, Watts, Trengove.

@HotPiesColDrinks, on a fantasy game that I sued to play before SC, goalsneak fantasy footy, if you select a player that doesn't play, they automattically get 50 points....something similiar could help...

I think I'll take Trent Cotchin over Dustin Martin next year, just Dusty scores a lot more 50s and 60s then Cotchin does

    TEAM NAME: Maori Messengers STR

    DEFENDERS
Goddard, Deledio, Shaw, Birchall, Symes, Adcock, Russell, Rookie, Rookie
    MIDFIELDERS
Ablett, Swan, Cotchin, Hayes, Mundy, Bartel, Rookie, Rookie
    RUCKMEN
    McEvoy, Kreuzer
    Giles, Rookie
    FORWARDS
Franklin, Riewoldt, Pavlich, Brown, Didak, Jaensch, Folou, Rookie, Rookie

    Important Factors For Next Year

*Depth, not needed as much without the byes, but try and find next year's Fyfe's and co *

*Creative MPP Link, Like DEF/FWD Could help you switch an out of form premium from say the Backline into the Forward line, where maybe you have better cover in the position that you swap it to, this'll save trades*

*Look for guns that are Sub 300-400k, think Bartel, Cooney, Symes, JBrown*

*I think Jordan Russell would be a good pick up if Gibbs moves back into the Midfield more often, freeing up Russell more on the HB Flank*

Interesting to look at the players coming through at around 23/24yo when considering the 2012 SC season. This year the 2005 draft is starting to come of age (23)...Murphy, Pendlebury, Thomas, Josh Kennedy, Andrew Swallow.

It is reasonable to expect them to continue as they reach their golden years of 23-28, but lets look at 2006 draft for the next batch of potential elites:

Gibbs, Selwood, Leunberger, Boak, JRoo, Gray, Connors, Jetta, KTippett, and Josh Kennedy (Syd) were in this draft as well as a few other smokies like Grigg, Ben Reid, Everitt, Armitage, Houli and Pettard. I expect it will be well worth looking closely at this group come 2012 teams.

Just think if you'd started with Pendles, Murphy, A Swallow, J Kennedy and Thomas this year you would have been well ahead of the pack.

    @Corks
I don't think David Armitage should be picked next year. i think with Lenny Hayes returning he might not get as much games because I think Jack Steven may have gone ahead of him with his solid performances, unless Steven plays more up forward... I'm not sure if Lenny Hayes & David Armitage in the same midfield will work as well even though I have been impressed with Armo this year.

The toughest position next year will be the rucks. The rise of McEvoy & Golstein will have you thinking if the Cox/Sandi combo is actually the best now. Given they are both nearing the end of the careers and getting hit by injuries recently. Also the rise of Nic Nat might have influeance of Cox's ruck time... Then throw in Kruezar who will be cheapish and big dilemmas...

One thing im going to consider is hopefully a few of the big name rucks are R/F and i might load up on a few as they are out scoring so many "premium" forwards due to the increase of points awarded to hitouts and stuff.

Will have a spine of -

    Suckling / Martin
    Pendleberry / D.Thomas
    Mcevoy / Cox
    Stevie J / Cloke

Will be building around this group I expect at this stage. Usual costing issues of course
