Interesting there's no Dericxks in that Tigers line up.

Looks like Graham will be #1 ruckman and Vickery #2.

May have been posted elsewhere but some interesting stuff for Callinan:

Unfortunately, Nick, Callinan is said to miss 6-10 weeks as a result of a torn bicep in the practice match occurring at the moment. I wonder if that means Wrights' chances of being promoted just skyrocketed?

He was one of the few 'real rookie' priced players that also provided MPP. It won't be hard to replace him with another fwd/mid but it will probably cost another 10k or so.

Shaun Mckernan is looking alright for that 3rd tall spot in the adelaide fwd line, especially with Tippett and Henderson going down today. The boy can take a grab!

I thought this topic could do with a bit of a bump in light on recent injuries, and with the final match before the real thing starts to be played shortly this afternoon.

    Callinan and Mzungu out.
Prestia not playing today - is he in the best 22?
Smith is still unsighted which is a concern
Irons was listed as having a bit of a niggle
Puopolo looks to have some competition
Schneider not promoted/hasnt played recently and Smith is no certainty.

All of a sudden rookie selections are looking a tad harder than they were a month or so ago, especially ones which are worth starting on the field.

I wasn't too concerned with the number of rookies I had starting on the field originally, but with a few decent ones now no longer on the radar, we're forced to perhaps move down a tier and have a go at arguably more speculative choices.

I know he's not a rookie but his price is not far off it, what do people think about Petrie in your starting line-up? He has a first round suspension and a bye in about R3 so his price won't go up until at least R5. Is it worth having him from the start just to save the trade?

With all the injuries at Freo, Lower looks a good chance of being elevated to the senior list, so he could become a potential cash cow. Already has senior experience at Port.

You're not wrong spud, I have just started a new job and been so flat out for the last three weeks that I haven't had much time to adjust my side. I got on this morning to have a bit of a play with it and have had to remove a swag of rookies that are now injured or not looking as promising they were a month ago.

Still think that you are going to be safe with most GC rookies as the team has zero depth. If they pick up a couple of injuries or some guys hit poor form, Prestia and Toy will be playing all year.

Agree totally ....As I only go for league wins I'm looking at dropping the 1st game (maybe)and have a couple more from GC ??.

In my opinion the forward and back lines this year have a fair bit of rookie depth, But I'm really struggling with midfield rookies!

I'm going with a GNR strategy so my mid will comprise of 3 premiums and 6 rookies (3 playing). Krak and D Swallow seem locks as does Harris. But then it gets a bit harder...Heppell was previously a lock but has been quite in his last 2 games. Gaff, Bennell, Polec and Conca are very expensive and I'm not convinced they can produce the same scores as Swallow. Wallis and Libba may struggle to break into the dogs line up, particularly early. Mzungu, Jacobs, Iles and Callinan injured. I haven't seen much of Atley or Pittard.

Is it too risky having 3 GC players in the same line?...

So I still currently have 3 spots to fill...am I the only one having this problem?

    Nice one, JD.
Certainly one to keep an eye on if he does get elevated. Any idea how his preseason has been to date?
I'd want to know who he is replacing though, in an attempt to avoid picking a cheapy that's only replacing a player who is due back in a few weeks.

    Definitely,
The Gold Coast players will be great choices and while some might take longer to appreciate than others, you would think given the lack of alternative options, that most players will be given a chance to find form and gel together as a unit throughout the year. This is unlike a more senior team where, a couple of bad games could mean time in the reserves which doesn't help Supercoaches in the slightest.

For league I would definitely be stocking up on the GC youngsters, and just be prepared to perhaps bite the dust in rounds 1 and 9, and accept they could start slow but should get better as a whole as the season goes on.

Is there a deadline for Pre round 1 rookie elevation, other than just before the start of the round? E.g is there a drop dead date?

Rookies are always an issue and one we cant solve untill team lists are out on the 23rd lockout and 24th, but speculation is that coaches want the jump for game one so tried and true will prevail, GC Rookie players are an unknown after their flogging against Bris. They were disintrested and sloppy all day. Rd1 bye is a bugger for GC as set up of teams prior to first bounce is a gamble with their players even with 24 trades players from Port Carl coll rich ess I thought would come more into consideration due to there late byes and quality Rookies, but its all a risk last year Barlow was the only real Rookie stand out.

Still reckon GC is a bit of a risk. I'd prefer to be pushing more for older mature players with the physicality of the game now.

That's where I guess you have to consider players like Skinner. Normally you'd think the Dogs have no room but his age gives him a fighting chance.

There is imo very little to choose from for midfield rookies 110,000 or less. Hibberd, Atley maybe. Imo, that is all.

Magnificent mate. Been averaging in the 90DT range over three games.

Doesn't Lower still have to be elavated? If he does I am taking out Heppell for him and upgrading Smith to Conca/Gaff.

I have been running with the 3 gun 6 rookie midfield strategy for the last 4 weeks but the recent demise of some of the 'lock' midfield rookie options have really got me rethinking this - anyone else spooked like me now ..... or should I stay the course???

I have a feeling Rookie elevations are due in by the 15th of March ie. tomm.

Last year the rookie elevation deadline was 16th of March at 2pm.
