Going to need a recount, but I believe a 15 man Misfits have gone down to a 13 man Packers by 1 point...

Marble Bar pipped by one point as Aish goes big and Day comes up short. Gundagai break their duck as a blue on the comeback trail nips the Nuffers while a former pie turned blue does not rise on the road. Lilacs licked as Charlie flexes his opening. Honestly, you could not make it up - it's all happening here in ORFFAland.

About 12 sub-par efforts. Even with Mayes and Shaw scoring poorly, Venus Bay remained a massive chance late in the game with Young, Blair, Gibbs and Beams amongst others starting well. Alas a couple of them faded and Seedsman did enough to help secure the points. Les W votes: Howe - VBV 5 Parker - VBV 4 Beams - VBV 3 Cornes - DGD 2 Rance - DGD 1 Rance gets a Les W vote with 102 points. Almost as odd as Blicavs' vote in the game above!

More impressed with him right now than Brodie Grundy ... looks to be turning into a very good big man.
I could be convinced that we might need a rethink of the Les W voting system when in one game a player gets a vote for a 94 point haul while in another game a player gets no votes for a 132 point effort. But that is just me ruminating on Nat Fyfe's meagre Les W haul while averaging 121 points for his 10 ORFFA games (which includes a 76).

But that is just me ruminating on Nat Fyfe's meagre Les W haul while averaging 121 points for his 10 ORFFA games (which includes a 76). Been thinking about this one too. Not that I hate Gary Ablett and don't want him to win every year, but there isn't a lot of point to a medal when we know who is going to win every year. I'm in a similar boat to you in that we both have high scoring teams, but have players who score consistently well who are well down on the leaderboard. I don't know what the solution is, been thinking about a 'value above replacement' style system where you look at the averages of the 73rd best mid, defender and forward and the 19th best ruckman and give players scores based on how well they do each week above what would considered to be the replacement player at each position. This is obviously quick and dirty but highly convoluted at the same time so probably wouldn't work (and Gary would probably still win anyway) but would make it less of a midfielders award potentially. Still wouldn't solve your Fyfe problem, but I would be happy to take him off your hands in a trade for someone who will poll more Les W. votes than him
Thanks for the feedback chief, much appreciated. BTW, I am very flattered that you think of my mob in the same breath as your all conquering, high scoring, primo team. Registration of interest noted, but don't hold your breath. I love watching the way he plays - but knowing that their is a tiny, weeny bit of 'ownership' there makes it that much sweeter. I wonder if GAJ had transgressed in the way Fyfe was rubbed out for, if he would have copped a Brownlow ending penalty? Can only encourage others to give their thoughts on the Les W Medal methodology.
