Please don't take offence Bandit but a team meeting of the Waikiks it was resolved unanimously that no member of the team would make himself available to play against an "ANZAC" team. In particular they said they could not betray the memories and ethos of those who paid the ultimate sacrifice that helped to shape two strong, independent nations. Members of Victorian teams may be willing to go up against the rest of Australia - that's their choice.

I couldn't give a stuff which teams play which to be honest, just trying to get a bit of fun up and running. Are you seriously saying your team are not in? If we shifted the Waikiks to the ANZAC team and booted Mawson to the Vics (which was my original suggestion) would the Waikiks reconsider? This would also require agreement from the other clubs, but I don't think it is worth running unless all teams are in.
I think it's more a moral objection to playing against the ANZACs Bandit. As NZ is a proud and equal part of the ANZAC group, and on top of that the ANZACs are on our side collectively, I can see how playing against and even fighting (big games can get heated) in some cases against the ANZACs would be distasteful. Maybe a name change would do the job Bandit? Have to ask chels though of course
as can I... if it as simple as a name change no objection from my side... maybe resurrect "The Allies"
<blockquote>Quote from Bandit on May 25, 2012, 12:10 as can I... if it as simple as a name change no objection from my side... maybe resurrect "The Allies"</blockquote> So whats going on? Is this name change happening or what? there is no sign of it in any of the official marketing, or amongst the "allies" camp during their selection meetings. ???
No point changing it unless Chels accepts the change... On behalf of the 'other' team I know we would be happy to change the name to something more appropriate.
On behalf of the ANZACS, no. Originally, Bandit put the Cows in with a group called "the Allies" (ANZACS) and Mawson with a group called the Vics. Then ant made some nebulous comment about Mawson not being international and swapped the Cows into the Vics and Mawson into "the Rest" (ANZACS). Bandit then changed the team names to Vic and New Zealand vs The Anzacs. In the eagerness and enthusiasm, it appears no one gave any thought to how inappropriate it is to have NZ not in the ANZACS where, I can say despite their huge potato field, they would have been welcome. They were already there if it hadn't been stuffed about. Fortunately chels recently informed me that he is quite thick-skinned, so he will go along with a majority solution. The way out is for a name change for the teams, agreed to by the two coordinators. Bandit's role is largely ceremonial these days. Since it seems to be the team that I am coordinating that has upset the Cows, I propose that the name be changed to "the Wombats", a term not signifying any particular geography, and the best I could do at short notice. This requires agreement from all the teams currently in the group known as ANZACS. Then it requires acquiescence from the coordinator of "that other mob" and a MOD to change the title of our dedicated thread. Okay?
Just get it sorted out and I'll do the changing. I don't particularly care which side I'm on if it makes things any easier. <img src="http://www.prospect.sa.gov.au/webdata/resources/images/2_Southern_hairy-nosed_wombat__photo_courtesy_BioCity.JPG" />

Okay?</blockquote> I think you'll find that the team name of ANZACs was given after Chels had already been grouped with the Vics. Prior to that, it was termed "the rest" or the "allies" - check out the OP. And you can quite easily change the name of your thread by yourself TiB
Happy to be called the Pink Tutus if that gets the show on the road, I just want to win something this year

Proud to have been represented by three in this fixture: S. Mitchell 129, M. Robinson 122 and S. Jacobs 104. Am talking through with the rest of the Waikiks the standard they need to strive to achieve.
