Thanks Chris. The Nuffers have already been spanked by the Lilacs this season. I really appreciate your squad's effort to stop the Nuffers being owned by your family.

Mate - your team is absolutely flying - well done!

I added up the scores last night after missing some of the games and thought me having 500 from 6 players (given all the guys I had missing) was good going, but then I added your scores up and you are something like 850 from 8 players on the field.

Such good work - I recall you having issues through parts of the first year nad a bit in this league with depth and injuries, but good on you for turning things around. You've got a really good solid consistent team and it is probably a really good example of how some nice trades and some draft picks can help.

Best of luck for the rest of the match-up.

Cool, thanks for the update :) It was good to have Masten back in, and Robbie Gray fired up for this one! Also very happy with Matty Crouch :)

Thought for a while there that the Waikicks might have a chance against the Codpieces. However, poor performances by Isaac Smith 65 and George Burbury 48 meant we petered out to a disappointing 1413. We hope at some stage to get our best 15 on the track (Brad Crouch and Jack Ziebell will be welcome ins, and better selection would be nice) and see what score we can rack up. Still 1400+ against each of the top two teams (IKC and FBC) is not too shabby and a 3-2 record is not the end of the world. Next week sees a battle with the third place Darraweit so the tests just keep on coming! What might have been? Anyway, another glass of an excellent Hawkes Bay Zinfandel and some more of a fine Egmont area bleu de brie with quince jelly and a local sourdough bread is some solace. Living in an area where quality is a hallmark has its advantages - I hope the general committee give me the chance to see out the season as head coach.

In the first two seasons of the ORRFA very little has separated Cradle Mountain and Venus Bay and the two clubs finished both seasons within a few positions of each other on the ladder. 2014 Is shaping as no different, in Round 5 the seventh placed Cradle Mountain hosted eighth placed Venus Bay, both teams had recorded two wins and two losses with the Devils being higher on the ladder due to a narrow advantage in points scored, 4,846 to the Vultures 4,831.

The three battles with four player lines were extremely tight, with the Vultures winning each line battle by less than 11 points, their forwards winning by four points 329 to 325, their defenders by a solitary point 299 to 298, and for the first time this season the Cradle Mountain midfield were beaten with the Vultures taking the honours 457 to 447.

Ultimately the difference in the two teams was Venus Bay being forced to play 189 centimetre midfielder Clinton Young out of position in the ruck and his team-mate Xavier Ellis suffering a calf injury in the opening minutes of the first quarter, after starting the match on the interchange bench. Cradle Mountain ruckman Trent West won the ruck by 52, 77 to Young's 25 (50/2 OOP) and the Devils took advantage of Ellis's injury to win the interchange line 149 to 87.

Cradle Mountain won the match by 99 points, 1,296 to 1,197, Venus Bay effectively restricted to 13.5 players due to the Ellis injury and Young OOP remained in the contest until the 30th player Steve Johnson took the field, needing only 43 points to get the win Stevie J set his sights on another target - the 5 Les W. Medal votes, needing a score of 134 he did just enough to get the maximum votes by scoring 141 points.

Both teams had midfielders 1 to 3 score between 121 and 141 and midfielder 4 register a disappointing sub 75 score. Les W Medal leader Venus Bay's Dayne Beams missed getting in the votes by the narrowest of margins losing a tie breaker due to Jack Redden from the Devils also scoring 121. Vulture midfielders Mundy (134) and Gibbs (131) received 4 and 3 votes respectively with Mundy continuing his impressive early season form to take his tally to 9 votes, ranked second at Venus Bay behind Beams' 16 votes. Cradle Mountain Captain Pendlebury (128) was in the votes for the fourth time this season, polling two votes to take his tally to 13.

Both teams had one non-midfielders score 100, Venus Bay with Malceski (102) and the Devils with Gwilt (100).
    Les W. Medal votes <p style='margin-bottom: 0pt;]5 S Johnson (141) Cradle Mountain <p style='margin-bottom: 0pt;]4 D Mundy (134) Venus Bay <p style='margin-bottom: 0pt;]3 B Gibbs (131) Venus Bay <p style='margin-bottom: 0pt;]2 S Pendlebury (128) Cradle Mountain <p style='margin-bottom: 0pt;]1 J Redden (121) Cradle Mountain *

    <p >
Reckon the ladder may reveal you could've jumped to third Chels after Darraweit's loss to a rampaging (almost 1500 score) Nuffers side on the weekend.

Don't know whether you should have too many problems in looking at your form from this weekend - don't think I'm getting any reinforcements back for my side, and I reckon that despite some of my depth guys really stepping up again this week - Jed Lamb was good, Newnes very good, Frawley and Gibson more than passable - I've not got the firepower at the moment to match it with the best teams.

Can't continue to run Betts, McPharlin and Tyson (who is a bit up and down at the moment) each week. Am really one forward short with Walters out for the year, Otten a couple of weeks away, Vickery demoted, McDonough (surprisingly) not playing ... Shane Edwards would be handy right now!!

Desperately need Goddard, Armitage, Otten (as a D/F) and probably Rance/Seedsman back. Hopefully we can get them back in the coming couple of weeks or so.

All that is moot though - even with everyone out on the park this week the Nuffers were utterly white hot and would've still comfortably accounted for Darraweit.

The Packers knew they were facing difficulty when Ball was named substitute, and thus fell short of our third victory by 9 points. For Powlett Packers FC.... and to quote Mick Malthouse... it's not about wins and losses, but process. We are refining the process, and the wins will start to look after themselves. We are playing good football in patches.

The Les W. spiffy tsleagues doodad seems to have thrown us into a bit of confusion as regards posting results. My understanding is that Chris can get the results direct from tsleagues (or Len feeds them to him) preparatory for the write up, thus there is no need (but also no harm) for home sides to post results?

I assumed something similar Terry and have not really kept scores unless bored. Always coming 2nd makes this less of a priority for me than some, I am in that special playgroup that play without scores and everyone is considered equal regardless of realities prickly insight.. Dean gets the full scores sent through for his medals, Chris indicated he was happy to get them from Les's info and didn't require them posted. The rest I guess is just discussion stuff, which can include scores and is always good :)

That's even nicer than the Premiership medallion. Don't think Simon will give it up without a fight.

TBH Terry bit worried about the accuracy of the auto stats. Chels and I both got 1413 for the Waiki score this week but the auto score has him down for 1448. Can we be secure in the results being consistent?
