@Bettsy, Well, can't fault me for thinking that's a lady's name. One hotel that is not too large and is on the river has just opened and some folks here at work have mentioned it looks nice: http://www.ibishotel.com/gb/hotel-7026-ibis-bangkok-riverside/index.shtml Price is good and think they have a stay 3 pay 2 at the mo. It is on my side of the river (opposite the main Bangkok side) but you can have a lot of fun crossing to the Bangkok side by the regular boat service and that hooks up with skytrains, etc. Would recommend crossing to the Taksin Bridge Jetty and catching an express water taxi up-river to Nonburi (fare is about $1 and they run every 20 min.). Get off at Nonburi and just down from the jetty you will spot a restaurant on the river - good seafood. Catch riv. taxi back. For nightlife, head to Patpong or Soi Cowboy (both can be reached by skytrain). Avoid the touts and ask the price of the drinks before you order.
<blockquote>Quote from TerryinBangkok on April 22, 2011, 19:13 @thunda Only my humble opinion, but think Swan should be your primary target (after R7). Vince, Ward, Foley all expendable at this point. Might pay to hang on to Curnow. Krak and Harris still feeding. Heppell getting ripe, but think we all want to eventually turn him into Hibberd so we keep MPP. Probably out of Foley and Vince - downgrade one and up the other. Libba due for a big rise, but he has to keep his av. to get it. I would not be a happy boy if (for example) Wallis is on and Libba gets the shirt. Depends how many rounds you think you need to get the $, but Bennell is a possibility this round as a downgrade. You probably have a strategy worked out already, if it were me I would be aiming to turn those mid-pricers into Swan and Bartel.</blockquote> Cheers, Yea Swan im aiming for after either their 2nd bye, also Gazza at round 10. Curnow/Heppel/Harris will all be given until their 1st bye and then its culling time. No point wasting a week on them to gain maybe 30 or 40K at that stage.. I hadnt considered Bennel as i figured he'd already played 3 games.. Only ave 65 though and the GC kids dont really seem to be going all that well with getting the points... I had a look and if Libba gets 75 for next 3 weeks he will hit close to $300K which i could then use the money from the Foley downgrade to upgrade him a premium and still have lots $$$ left for another upgrade of one the other rookie mids who will also be around the $300-$350K mark... Ive started off shocking and sitting way way back so really only concentrating on my leagues at the moment and also trying to get some respectability into my ranking. Hence why im not overly fussed about Swan until after round 14.
@Vaughan I think you're on the right track with Prestia. I have him but he'll be removed as soon as a suitable trade can be found. As you said, worth trading but the trade must be right. Interesting you mention Hurley and McKernan. Hurley will be removed from my team around his Rd 10 bye. He's been great but I reckon he'll have reached his limit by then. Keep an eye on Michael Johnson as a F/D link. I dropped him after Rd 2 but will buy him back at a lower price if he shows any indication of a return to form. Can play and can SC score. Also, am concerned about McKernan's JS moving forward. Just an opinion - good luck.
Aargh headaches! Thinking a last-minute trade from Green-Fyfe? Is that too sideways? Will allow me to put Krak on the bench but then leave me with over next round (which is the current situation now). With Krak's doubt I think I'm copping a zero this ride unless I trade but can't see anyone worthwhile (unless I consider JRoo).
Its got to be option 1 SKT, Pendles won't be this cheap again. I would probably prefer either Horsely or Adams to Pfeiffer or Stringer but both have some JS issues. I will also be moving McCarthy (massive spud) on and probably bringing Rockliff in due to his Rd11 bye. I think trading with byes in mind will be very important from now on for both premiums and rookies. Rocky in will leave me with 140k left over which is a annoying amont as there doesn't seem to be much value around the 360k mark up forward or down back.
I've been watching JPK closely all year, and he cranked out a 173. He's gotta be in my side a nice POD. Even thinking about s thompson also, he's been good as
In the same boat thunda got a lot of numbers to look at for trades this week to work out where to make my move. D.Smith is gonna get moved on and out, but with Dempsey and carazzo killing my back line one of them has to go. Tempted to go get Murphy selwood jpk with the switcheroo for carrots and then have enough left for Hepell but not willing to miss out on pfieffer this week with the possibility of a dble downgrade next week with Horesly and T. Adams now on the radar. With Albert warming the pine and a bit of moo'ing left in magnet sheils and old Mac, D.smith to pfieffer and carrots to heppell and bank the cash looks like the only option. Will leave about 400k in the bank which is way too much to be sitting there but so far out of the race I'm looking at just finishing strong in the 2nd half of the year in leagues with a few weeks of dble upgrades. I think JPK is the real deal and will be a great POD, but with fwds and some defs bottoming out right now, options are aplenty.
Will more than likely just do the one trade this week. Stanley to Rusty. Could make others but not sold on Pfieffer's JS and will be looking in the coming weeks for Mid/Fwds to bob up and give me MPP
Forward downgrades - have some options - Dell'Olio, Pfieffer, Taylor Adams perhaps. Who do you think is the best bet here - I'm almost leaning towards Pfieffer myself ... Dell'Olio cheap but vest duties worry me, Adam I can wait a week on if needed. But for me this week, Magner and Shiel still have definite 30-40K left in them, so the way the rookies are this year I'm going to wait and let them fatten - could be invaluble. Means I miss out on JPK and Pendles, but given I have 5 premiums in the midfield with Old Mac at M6, I'll live for now (much and all JPK is tempting). My forwards need work, with Hale and Stanley having run their race. Hale in particular. So for me, it'll be OUT D Smith, Hale IN ROOKIE (Pfieffer, Dell'Olio, Adams) and most likely Dangerfield. Can't go past a $470K guy averaging 104 up forward who is running through the mids.
And next week, one of Magner or Shiel will go for Horsley or Adams, and Rhys Stanley will be traded up to one of the falling forward premiums - Beams, Fyfe (for the risky), Spuddy Buddy, etc.
After reading Chris88's comments i am now seriously tossing up between Rusty and Dangerfield!!! Who do people think is the better candidate? Sidebottom-$491,400,avg-100,Rd 12 bye Dangerfield-$476,700,avg-103,Rd 11 bye Not a great deal between them going by the numbers. Bye situation is the obvious difference. I'd expect Sidebottom to increase on that avg in the future with Ball out of the side. No idea who to go!!!
Crazily thinking of adding JRoo - he looked better in the 2nd half and is capable of dropping some massive scores ( a sneaky round win is about all I have left to aim for haha). Could 1 trade from Smith after making a bit of cash last round.
Genza Beams might be in the 450 range also after a fairly slow start to the year. If you were doing the trade now, you'd possibly put Danger/Sidey ahead, but if you could wait a few weeks Beams becomes a very good option.
On another note, the Horse is coming into my team. Just a matter of this week or next week. Probably next week and probably for Shiel, but him v Magner is pretty much line ball at the moment.
Lucas - agree. The Horse definitely in next week for me. I'll probably replace Magner to be honest - has a tougher run of games coming up than Shiel (who has Gold Coast and Brissy I think in the next 3) - Magner has Hawks, Swans, Bombers and Geelong .... good thing is that we might be able to get one more look at both before making our decision.
