Giants not going well (3rd Q), but all your mids racking 'em up. Went Kelly over JPK in SC this week - thought of you when I hit the trade button.

Was a very enjoyable last qtr :)

We are at a tipping point though, too many kids and not enough "battle hardened" troops, spent 60% of the game kicking to the opposition under pressure, not a normal issue for us to have

Can't imagine it'll influence the result, but evidently I was too stupid to notice that my ruck has a bye. :( :poop:

I think Jen was short seven players given all the absences and late withdrawals. I got a 10 from Newnes, on top of no Lyons or Coniglio. Though my absences are nothing compared to others'.

Not a great time of it. One wonders if we need to readdress this situation if it occurs next year. Congrats to those who over and the byes!

We tried to match up opponents who were hit equally hard by the missing Port & GC players. Not an exact science though.
Im not sure how it worked out.

Reckon that given the circumstances the fixture committee did a really good job. Just the circumstances are really not great.

Thing is, not sure if there is a solution. Did the best we could though.

I got smashed too early and forgot that one of my forwards was out on a bye this week!
It wouldnt have made much difference if I hadve known, I wouldve had Harwood play oop and I wouldve lost by 6 instead of 40.

    Well done @snoz !

The Devils are further strengthening their claims as the Richmond of the ORFFA, having lost two games in a row by 25 points or less (both at home) and three of their last four games by less than 30 points. Like Richmond, Cradle Mountain won their first five games of the 2017 season only to then lose several close games in the next month and fall down the ladder.

CMD losses in extremely close games
Round 6 - 26 point loss to Marble Bar 1301 to 1327 away
    Round 8 - 25 point loss to Gundagai 1288 to 1313 @ home
    Round 9 - 19 point loss to Vultures 1327 to 1346 @ home

Equating this to AFL scores – it would be the equivalent of having three two point losses in four games, however to be honest the Devils were probably lucky to get this close in a couple of games. Hopper Hunt was knocked out and missed approx. half a game in Round 8 and the Vultures were without Hogan & Pittard against a Devils line-up in Round 9 that had all of its automatic selections available. In Round 6 three Misfits emergencies scored more than 80 whilst only one Cradle Mountain emergency scored more than 55. On balance CMD’s opponent was the deserving victor in all three games, however we are taking a glass half full approach given that we have averaged 1305 points in these three losses and surely if we maintain that output we will win the majority of our games.

Whilst the Devils have lost the extremely close games they have had two wins in close games decided by between 31 and 50 points so might not be able to claim that they are quite in Richmond’s league in terms of losing close games.

    Narrow CMD wins
    Round 1 - 33 point win over Gariwerd 1445 to 1412 @ home
    Round 7 - 48 point win vs Whitsunday 1225 to 1177 away

Devils fans certainly have been getting value for money with close games this season given that five of nine CMD games have been decided by less than 50 points.

OK, so next dumb question ... Round 10 - do we select our Thursday night guys separately? semi rolling lock out?

Assume it is the same as normal Chris - if you do not pick your players who feature on Thursday evening before the bounce you cannot subsequently pick them. Think E, this is the ORFFA equivalent of a loophole.

The Giants haters can start opening their celebratory beverages..
Last week we had only 4 listed players available to play in our reserves team, since then we have lost Lobb & SJ, we now have 24 players available for selection, and that will be a high mark for at least 4 weeks.

If Deledio doesn't get on the park in round 14 my head will explode.

    I saw this tweet today;

Our last few wins have been extraordinary under the circumstances
