Midway through the third quarter at Groper Park and the Goannas have a commanding lead (even with smitch's 9 points). Goondiwini are currently 6/613/102 with the home team languishing on 6/434/72 (with a donut to come for late withdrawal J.Thurlow). For the Sandgropers a season best performance from M.Hurley (107), an encouraging debut from B.Acres (59) and a steady performance from P.Ryder (106) were good signs but another sub-par score from S.Kerridge (34) and D.Thomas going backwards (64) has put the Goannas firmly in the driving seat. Goondiwindi has been more than ably lead by C.Ward (144), L.Bruest (139) & K.Jack (133). The locals are seeing why the Goannas are amongst the premiership fancies, and with a long way to go this could turn ugly.

 

Half-time at Flying Fish Cove Park sees Gisborne with a substantial 92 point lead over the home team, 622/8 (78) versus 530/8 (66, including Hartlett's donut). Gisborne's McVeigh (135) has been head and shoulders above the rest of the field. Tyson (112) is really the only Smuggler who can hold his head up in another poor home performance which should see the improving Gisborne record another win.

 

It's half-time at Mill Pk, where the coach of the Home team has vacated the ground and taken time off, to evaluate his life outside of football, and left the reporting of the game to the visiting coach. I promise not to be biased. After a sluggish 1st quarter, where they failed to trouble the scoreboard, the Bulls came out snorting in the 2nd qtr and put it right up to the Barcrawlers, much to the delight of the locals, all 152 of them, and are leading the Barcrawlers 12/1134/94.5 to 10/934/93.4. Inspired performances from the Bulls came from Roughy with 137, Rocky 132, Dalhaus 124, and Rampe down back with 115. The Barcrawlers started well with Blair 115, and big Robbie 99 leading the way, but failed to withstand the pressure in the 2nd qtr, with only Joey 144, Hodgey 113, and Monfries 92, in his 1st game back for a while, being able to perform to their maximum. A big 2nd half coming up, where the Barcrawlers' Swallow, Selwood,Gibson,Grigg and Shaw, do battle with their opposites, Grima,Kelly and Bastinac.

 

Pakenham are in control of the matchup with Manangatang, big scores from rising star Polec and injury prone Higgins have helped the Parasites to a comfortable lead. The awayside unfortunately couldn't field a full team with 4 donuts contributing to a low total so far, Rioli the shining light. Those extra 4 scores would makea massive difference in the outcome of the match,with some of Pakenham's players struggling again this week. Firstly thanks to Banchang for the 1/2 time update. What a cracker of a match it was with the home team falling over the line by 7 points. In a match I'd like to nominate asthe 'Knockers Cup' for my comments made over the questionableselection of one R Warnock at pick 40 in the draft. It was almost ironic that the big fella won the ruck contest against McEvoy and nearly dragged the travelling team to a memorable victory. The home team maintains a perfect home record despite a final quarter comeback led by Selwood who after a quiet first half dominated late, but Nathan Grima was resolute in defence and stood tall as the Bulls held on. So the actual margin was 130. And Malceski gets the 2 and Danny Jackson gets the 1 with 110 on the bench. Looks like we have some rebuilding to do from 13th and 3-4 and you have 3 weeks for an afterparty
