The 3rd Qtr (air-raid) siren has sounded here at The Stadium in beautiful downtown Banchang, and the umpires have been ordered to hear it, (we are under Martial Law after all) with the Panthers holding onto their slender lead. The Barcrawlers rallied in that 3rd Qtr and are trailing the Panthers by 19, 9/663 (av 73.7) to our 9/644 (av 71.6)

Quick update from Groper Park has the Parasites with a big lead, albeit with a lot more of their squad having played. SCS 6/538/89, PP 11/1041/94.

In country Victoria, out at Manangatang, its still the local Orangutans with a comfortable lead over the visiting Prospectors. Current scores: Manangatan 848 / 11 / 77.1 Coolgardie 683 / 8 / 85.4 Here's hoping the Prospectors can come home strong, and take out another away win!

It looks like the Smugglers have carried on the effort into a good half-time lead 8/783 (av. 97.88) to Eden's 5/415 (av. 83) but with most of the midfield still to play, the Whalers will put in a strong finish.

Meanwhile in Southern Cross, Packenham have checked out with awesome stats of 15/1434/96, the Sandgropers however are still running around the park with 9/731/81. It's a long way back from here.

In Gisborne, an extremely close, low-scoring scrap is being played out. Currently, Gisborne are leading 1052/14 at 75.14 to Ararat's 900/12 at 75. Gisborne have points on the board with Masten to come, but Ararat have 3 extra players still yet to play or in play. This would be a huge upset if the Grenades win, and shows how injuries can derail seasons (or at least half a season)

Final scores at Groper Park: SCS 15/1219/81, PAP 15/1434/96 The Packenham Parasites are the inaugural winners of 'The Battle of the Bugs' and deservedly so. Incredible showing from the Parasites with a score that will be tough to beat this season. If they can keep their guys on the park and I was a betting man, I'd be putting my money on these guys for the flag. Full match review to follow.......

Final Score Cow Bay (Croc’s) 1,164 def by Groote Eylandt (Barracudas) 1,300
    Welcome to the indigenous round.

After the mid-season bye rounds the Croc’s are hosting the Barracuda’s for the indigenous round.

A slow start to the weekend however Garland in a game where he had plenty of the ball and Everitt stood up with in defence with solid games, chalking up 18 and 20 disposals and a goal to Everitt after the ball spilled from a tackle in which he played on and put it through the pine.

In the forward line up Paparone had a solid performance kicking a goal and collecting 22 disposals for the match and applying pressure were he could. The kicking machine Gunston bagged 4 for the day including the first goal of the match. Patton also helped out with 2 goals.

The midfield that carve it up, Libba taking it to the visitors and racking up 31 disposals, his work rate was superior including game high 9 clearances. Ellis palyed outside his usual style and still managed to be the leading ball getter for his team having 26 disposals.Scully turned it on as well chalking up his 26 disposals.

Too many underperformers from the home team, Cameron, Hampton, Beams and Gawn who was subbed off early in the game.

Unfortunately another loss for the Croc’s this time at the teeth of the Barracuda’s.

A quick start by the Barracuda’s in the indigenous round after a good rest over the mid-season byes with solid performances across the ground. Murphy was on fire with his 30 disposals really showing who’s the best in defence. Frawley chipped in with 2 goals and 16 disposal as he combined well with Watt’s for one of his goals. New recruit Sutcliffe did well on the day.

Leading the way in the midfield was Cunnington, this guys is hot, hot, hot collecting 33 disposals and a goal. Hannebery wasn’t too far behind with his performance also kicking 2 goals and grabbing 30 disposals, he ran rampant on the Croc’s turf. Captain Cotchin had a solid performance collecting a goal and picking up 25 disposals.

Up in front of the big sticks Zorko displayed a superior performance slotting 2 goals and running all day with his 23 disposals, this kid is on fire. 3 goals from Goodes in a display from his youth roving the packs collecting 17 disposals.

Young Derickx got plenty of leather with 18 hit-outs and booting 2 goals slotting one from 53 meter out, well done to the big boy.
Even younger new recruit Jack Frost came in for Lewis who was a last minute out. Having a good run of the park and picking up a couple of kicks here and there.

Out at Manangatan it was the visiting Coolgardie Prospectors who were too good for the local Orangutans, taking home the bikkies with an 1125 to 1057 win. The game saw some big scores, some absolute shockers, and a couple of donuts to boot. The Orangutans were let down by a pair of zeros, which could have otherwise won them the game, while the Prospectors had to use some OOP magic to help get them over the line - which just goes to show that both coaches spent the trade / draft period asleep at the wheel, or planning so far into the future that they forgot about the now! Leading the way for the home side, and top scoring over-all was Ben Howlett, with 150 points. Next best was another Orangutan, Jobe Watson on 125, just going to show how well it could have been for the home side. Bringing up the rear of the votes was a pair of Prospectors, with both JP Kennedy and the returning Shane Mumford scoring 115 points each. I'm actually not sure how to split this one - do the rules allow for half points? Next week sees the Orangutans travelling to Christmas Island to take on the Budgie Smugglers (I like being able to write that each time!), while the Prospectors are back at home taking on the Southern Cross Sandgropers in the local WA battle for the gold nugget cup. Both games should be absolute crackers. In the votes: 3 - Ben Howlett (MO) 2 - Jobe Watson (MO) 1 - Shane Mumford (CP) awarded due to not being a midfielder.

Thanks heaps for all the score updates during our matchup EE. Very pleased to have taken out our first bugrivalry match. Big scores from all the guns helped post a good score. Interesting to see Day post a nice score, one to show up his former club, something to watch for the future. Shame Crouch couldn't get on the park this week mate. I look forward to a big matchup this week against the Goon, top of the points tablefor both clubs makes for a tough and telling contest in the final shakeup of the top 4. Good luck to the Goon, im hoping Swanny and Mitch miss again ;)

I'm not sure if you're aware Marty, but if you list emergencies on the other 4 lines, then your I/C emergency wont hold. It only holds if you only list 3 or less emergencies on your other lines, meaning you can only hold 4 emergencies in total.

Ok, Packenham are the winners of the inaugural 'Battle of the Bugs' with a big 200+ point win win against Southern Cross, it would have been even larger had Carlisle managed to get a game. Apologies for the lack of a write up but a quick look at the scores and you will see that the Parasites dominated with 9 of the team tonning up, it was an awesome performance from the team I think should be considered warm favourites for the flag. A midfield to die for, strength up forward and down back with the ruck their only possible weak link, stars on every line!
