The Nugget Cup has be won by the home-team Coolgardie Prospectors, after a strong 284 point win over visiting rivals, the Southern Cross Sandgropers. Most things went quite right for the Prospectors, with 5 players tonning up quite solidly, team selection very close to being on the money, and a low score of 62 points in the 1373 total. On the other hand the 'Gropers had some issues, with 4 players tonning up but only just, a considerable 47 points sitting on the pine, and a low score of 27. Unsurprisingly, the votes all go to the Prospectors, with Kaptain Kennedy leading all-comers on 126 points and 3 votes, Oliver Wines back in form with 120 points and 2 votes, and Brad Ebert filling out the three with 119 points and 1 vote. Just for note, next on the list was much maligned forward, and the subject of some preseason digs, Drew Petrie, on 114 points. Its good to see the players performing well! The win now sees Coolgardie at the top of the ORFFU ladder for the first time, with an imposing 8-1 record. Southern Cross have however slipped to 14th, with 4 losses in their last four outings. It doesn't get any easier for either team, with the 'Gropers taking on the 7th-placed Christmas Island at home, while the Prospectors are on the road again, for a top-of-the-table clash against the high-scoring Pakenham Parasites. The only issue for the Prospectors now is the fact that Sydney take on Port, and with Kennedy, Wines, and Ebert all munching on the pie, will there be enough to go around?
Congratulations must go to The Prospectors for their big win in the local derby, it was thoroughly deserved. A dominant performance from the midfield set up the win with a greater buy in across the ground getting them home. The Sandgropers used the after game function at The Club Hotel to dissect their below par performance in the inaugural Nugget Cup. With only 6 of the 15 achieving their average the commitment to the cause was questioned by the coaching team and disappointed locals alike. Poor selection cost the team a good 50 points but that would not have made up the deficit. The selectors are hoping for a larger field to choose from this weekend when Southern Cross welcome Christmas Island to town. Withex-Sandgroper Johnson and key forward Tippet both missing through injurythere may not be a better time to take on the Smugglers. One thing's for certain the boys had better show a greater appetite for the contest otherwise their hometown support may just turn a little feral.

This could either be very ugly or a lot of fun.
Looking forward to another huge match in Pakenham this week. A tough stretch for the Parasites in the schedule will surely sought the team out and give us a clearer picture on our chances going forward. A 1 v 2 matchup is sure to draw a massive crowd again this week, lets hope we decide to turn up and play. The home fans will turn wild ifthey watch another loss to a top contender, a bounce back win is in order. Good luck to the Cool' boys

No Manangatang again. I'll put in the same team they had last week - unless someone has objections. It does mean that Rioli doesn't get on the team bus yet again. It also means that Jobe is still named. Are we going to keep this up or do we want to do something? The way I see it, we can either be: 1) Very compassionate and enter the best possible team for Manangatang each week. 2) Considerate and enter the same team each week. 3) Strict and give the team zero's each week. 4) Very strict and threaten to kick the team out (remembering there's extenuating circumstances). I'm not expecting any responses to this, just food for thought. (This forum is also not the place for this discussion)

The way I see it is we make changes to the team when a player isn't named or out injured (ie Watson) but otherwise submit the same team each week. Since there's extenuating circumstances I'm in favour of allowing this to go on for a bit but say this kept happening until the end of the season then I'd probably start asking questions.
