It didn’t matter that Selwood was out, the midfield, in Prestia, Pendlebury and Armitage crushed their opponents racking up 38, 30 & 21 disposals and a goal each. The combination of Whitfield, 32 disposals, Dwyer who had a blinder picking up 28 disposals and Jacobs who was on fire having 33 taps was a spectacle to watch as they dissected the visitors. Leading the way in the forward line was Ballantyne were he slammed through 6 goals as the X-Factor in this one sided game. Young Robbie Gray hauled in 35 disposals and the Sergeant with his no holds bar performance cracked 4 goals and collected 13 disposals as they did what they liked in the forward 50. Defence was no different giving it to the visitors at every opportunity. Duffield working hard getting his 16 disposals, Scotty D. Thompson contributing all day as well as Langdon having stats of 16 and 21 disposals in a white wash for the home team. The Bunyips came out and swallowed whole each and every one of those Barracuda’s in a display of what’s to come in September. A big win on home turf. A great start by the visitors to South Australia with Gibbs collecting 23 disposals and a quick goal even subjected to a tag he broke free and kicked on. Cotchin and Cunnington put in solid performances with 27 and 24 disposals. Hanneberry was dazed and confused with his 13 disposals but did manage a goal in a lack lustre performance. Goodes kicked 3 goal however only 11 disposals and Darling had only one leg with a poor performance with 11 disposals. Lewis put in a great effort in pulling together 22 disposals for the day.
