After what has been a disastrous couple of weeks for Pakenham on and off the field with suspensions and season ending injuries, we have been able to celebrate a memorable victory in the inaugural 'Bushmans cup'. Both teams went in undermanned and had good performances to post reasonable scores. A stand out performance from Carlisle 155helped the Parasites earn the 80 point win. This win keeps our finals chances alive but without the great manour chances of winning it all have been terriblycruelled. We are hoping toget our otherstarting players (Bellboy, Goddard, Higgins, Mackay, Shaw)fit and ready for finalsin hope to shake it up a little. We are realistic though and are still mourning the loss. A losswhich may take till next season to get over and forget. That's fantasy footy for ya, good fun ;P Final scoresPakenham 1290 (best: Carlisle, Pyke,Sidebum, Barlow) Pearcedale 1210 (best: Howe, Parker, Lycett, Mundy) BOG votes;3. Carlisle 2. Pyke 1. Howe
Final Score Southern Cross (Sandgropers) 1,243 def by Groote Eylandt (Barracudas) 1,257 The home team got off to a slow start however Shuey smashed it with 2 goals and 30 disposals out of the middle. Fyfe was on fire all day and also booted 2 goals; he’s just such a brilliant player racking up 29 disposals. The Swallow of the Andrew kind collected 25 disposals was on song. Duncan put one through and picked up 14 disposals. Young Ryder tapped out 28 and was the catalyst for the home teams touches through-out the day. Myers had plenty of the ball with his 26 disposals on the inter-change and young Sammy Day put in a solid effort with 15 disposals. The forward line was down on last week’s performance with LeCras and Stringer slotting 2 goals each with Hurley and Yarren 18 and 13 disposals to their names. Taylor held the fort well picking up 23 disposals in containing Watts all day. Hansen grabbed 15 disposals while Docherty only managed 13 disposals. McDonald was a late out so Kennedy stepped up to the plate and gave good run with his 20 disposals. It was a tight match in Southern Cross with the home team just falling short for the points this week. The visitors were out of the gate early with Lewis continuing to rack up the disposals week in week out as he collected another 25. Another inter-change bagging disposals was Mzungu add to his 26 to his tally. This week it was Sutcliffe’s turn as the ruck emergency helping the Barracuda’s momentum of last week’s win. The engine room of the visitors were on fire. Gibbs had the ball on a string as he collected 29 disposals, Cotchin snagged a goal and picked up 26 disposals while Cunnington wrapped up 22 disposals. Young Bontempelli struggled but still had some moves in slotting his goal and finding 16 disposals. No goals this week for Zorko however to his credit he played an impacting role pushing out 26 disposals. Darling cracked one but could only manage 16 disposals. Goodes threaded 2 goals and picked up 16 disposals. Unfortunately for Watts his was heavily tagged by Taylor and could only muster up 12 disposals. Thanks for the write up Yad, saved me having to do it well done on the win. Duncan the major disappointment for me, really should have cracked the ton against poor opposition. Hansen being subbed out at half time when on fire really didn't help either. Still, 3 weeks of good scores has management buoyant that with some minor adjustments Southern Cross will be contesting finals next year.
Final score: Eden Whalers 1243 def by King Island Monarchs 1480
Full match report to follow but with Griffen a late out the Whalers put up a strong effort led by Boomer and Malceski 150 and 123 respectively and only 3 scored below 80 but not enough to beat a royal performance from Macrae with 172 and Boak's 153 contributing to what might be the top score for the year.
Votes: Macrae 3, Boak 2, Boomer 1
The Smugglers clung to top spot with a 1251 to 1061 victory over Ararat at Flying Fish Cove Park. The Armadillos were without 2 first choice defenders and their star midfielders, Treloar and Congilio and unfortunately their replacements couldn't get the job done with 3 players posting scores under 50. Minson was the only player from Ararat to crack the ton, although Wallis and Vince were handy in the midfield. The loss sees the Armadillos fall out of the 8 to 10th, as part of the logjam of 5 teams on 32 points. Hamish McIntosh lead the way for the Smugglers, with a season best 144. There will be some players sweating the outcome of the selection committee, with Kurt Tippett a certainty to resume his spot next week. Jarrod Witts and Chris Dawes have their heads on the chopping block at the moment. Things don't get any easier for either side in the split round 18, with the Smugglers travelling to the fortress of Mill Park to take on a resurgent Staghorn Flat, while the Armadillos host the FU's highest scoring team, the Goondiwindi Goannas. BAFFU votes: 3 - McIntosh (CIS), 2 - Minson (AA), 1 - Heppell (CIS)
So what are the rules for this split round? rolling lockouts? pretty sure that is the standard plan.... without digging through the rules.

Each time it will close at the start of a game, the exact same as SC I read that as a definite on the rolling lockout. That makes team selections much more interesting! Lets just hope that everyone leaves locked-out players in their selected positions...
