Tylo wrote: Hey JPK I was just thinking about what you said about Dickson. Has he taken Ellis's place in your midfield? That depends on who gets named. It looks like Dickson has been named on the interchange, and Ellis on field, so as of Saturday night I'm sticking with Ellis. Team however due to be revised by around 2pm tomorrow. Send me through any late changes you make Tylo, so I can get the final scores for our final teams.
After today's matches the margin has decreased between the Sandgropers & Crocs. The 'Gropers are now 1029/13 (ave 79) thanks to emergency Fitzpatrick's 23, the Crocs are 878/12 (ave 73). With Shuey & LeCras to come for the Sandgropers and Liberatore, Stevens & Talia to come for the Crocs the Southern Cross locals should be toasting a first up win tomorrow around 7pm, that is unless the 3 bulldogs can outscore the 2 eagles by 152 points. Who knows, stranger things have happened.
Christmas Island will need something special this afternoon to catch the Buffaloes, who currently lead 1204/14 (86 av) to 942/12 (78.5). Goodes, Gaff and Stringer need to out score Hurn and the 260 point deficit-not looking liking. With three first XV players to come back into the squad in the next two weeks, some players will be concerned for their positions. Especially Patfull, whose 24 was the second twenty posted by a Smuggler this round.
The latest on the scratch match between the Orangutans and the Barcrawlers has the match evenly poised with The 'tans having completed their scoring @ 15/1078 (av.71.86) with some good scores coming from Watson 157, Howlett 114, J.Grimes 100, Trengove and Grundy both 80. The Barcrawlers are trailing the 'tans by 87, @ 13/991(av.76.23). This low average is due in part, to some low scoring by Adcock,Walters,Gibson and Crouch. But hopefully Cooney and Crameri will get the 'crawlers home. I expect some serious questions will be raised at this week's Selection Committee Meeting.
Great effort from Jones with 142, Berger's 79, Hale's 89 and Jimmy Aish getting a debut of 61 vs Geary's 67! The Whalers just need Tom Young to outscore Scott Selwood by 152+ to win! C'mon Young, you've got this! Score is 1336/14 to 1185/14
Gisborne are slightly improving as the round wears on. Congrats to Trent West on a first round ton, hopefully Masten and Wellingham will join him as centurions. 669/13 at an average of 51.4 per player (better than last update by 0.1 ) Hate to say it Holky, but you are gone mate. No way will Young outscore Selwood, let alone by 152 points. For score checks, all teams are required to enter their teams player by player with their score, just as I have done in previous posts. This will help to avoid any errors. Anyone who wishes to double check scores of other players can, and should post whether they think there is a mistake or not. Finally, we will be running the award that was floated around earlier in the year - the most helpful flukey score of the round. Nominations will open soon. Nominate any player you want - preferably someone from another team, but someone from your own team is allowed. We will then open a poll on Wednesday and voting will close on Friday to see who will win the first round helpful flukey score award. Any ideas for names of this award, or shall we just name it after whoever wins it this week?
Off topic I know, but 9 players not on ORFFU lists have tonned up, including the last dreaded auto pick Clint Jones with 152. I know their competition was less than average but Jones was joined by 4 other Saints in breaking the ton. It's early days but there may be some decent players come mid season draft.

Score update from Pakenham. Parasites 13 fa 1169 avg. 89.9 with Higgins and Sinclair to come and hopefully B.Wilson somehow gets a game to erase my donut. Blowflys 14 fa 1119 avg. 79.9 with johansson to come. Looks like the Blowflys forward line forgot to turn up this week.

Please confirm your team Tylo, I seem to have missed it, sorry.

Final Score: Eden 1218 vs Blanchetown 1450 A scoring breakdown will come later as I seem to have left that piece of paper at home. Feeling strangely positive though, if 1218 was how we scored when the side was collapsing we can probably do better next week with Griffen possibly coming in. Also, Blanchetown was a strong opponent to face and will be expected to be in the finals. Great score from them averaging 96.66 per player and it looks like I have to get a new bridge for Eden, probably go to Mitre10 later.
Final Score Ararat 1,274 def by Groote Eylandt 1,308 Big performers for the Armadillos were Treloar with 34 disposals, the “Hoff” bagging 5 goals, Conigilo and Bernie with plenty of touches throughout the game. Mark Hutchings with a back problem was a big out for the home side; Mitch Wallis comes off the emergency roaster and takes his place. Young Lewis Taylor is made emergency in the midfield. Ruck emergency Jamar is also another out. Adams wears the green vest and comes on late in the game. Big Willy Minson was held well and severely impacted his influence on the game. Broughton not named for the Armadillos, is the “Burnman” already out of favour in Ararat? Another player not named at the Armadillos was Jaensch perhaps they are the new “Rat” pack. The coach will come into question regarding the delayed decision in moving Wallis to cover Hutchings instead of Jaensch. This may be seen as the critical factor in the home side having missed out on the 4 point after leading for 3 out of the 4 quarters of footy. Barracudas started off slow with some underperforming player in the likes of Hannebery, Nicholls and Garlett. Kennedy wore the dreaded green vest and came on late in the game. The Barracuda’s defence stood out lead by the veterans Murphy and Burgoyne, midfield was pretty consistent lead by Captain Cotchin. The boys coming off the interchange also had a great game (Lewis & Ball) and the young guns in Zorko with 28 disposals & Darling kicking 4 gaols up forward showed exactly why they are stars now and in the future. Langford will be pushing for selection with a solid game in the seconds as did Spencer who will be intent in bumping Nicholls out of the no.1 ruck position if he doesn’t lift his game. With a great finish in the 4th quarter to take to 4 points it's pretty exciting for round 1 and on the road. The boys are looking forward to Mad Monday and getting their hands on their rod. A great first up battle their Holky, thanks for the match-up and keeping the score up to date. The flags are flying high on the mighty Blanchetown Bridge and the Bunyips are still celebrating their first up win!
JPK, Newnes was on the I/C in the original team, with Macrae as mid emergency. So the only change to what you have listed is Newnes and Melksham swapped around. Still a comfortable win for the Prospectors, well done mate.
MATCH REPORT Round 1 Pakenham v Korumburra A win for the Parasites first up, well set up by strong performances from Ablett, Beams, Barlow and Riewoldt also Polec and Simpson scoring over 100 helped in the final outcome. The key in this match up was the non existent forward line of the Blowflys, the combined score of 169wasn't what the coach was after. Some bigconcerns for the Blowflys chief going forward. Considering theParasites had aplayer missingin the score, it was a great effort to start. Hopes are high in Pakenham at the moment.
