It's half-time here at Banchang Sports Stadium with the visitors slightly ahead on 10/812 (av81.2) versus the home team on 11/824 (av.74.9) The Sandgropers have been very consistent across the board, with the exception of Ryder's 38, and deserve their lead, whilst the Barcrawlers have been let down by both Shaw (20) and Hodge (34) being subbed out, and McKernan spudding it up on 29. Maybe the 'crawlers can get back into it in the 2nd half.

Choppers is off bush walking in Thailand so I thought I'd post an update for anyone interested in the match so far. Bangchang have had a couple of sub affected scores (Hodge & Shaw) as well as some spuds (McKernan & Grigg) to have them at 11/824 (ave 74.9) with Crameri, Cooney, Adcock & Selwood to come. They are leading the visiting Sandgropers (10/812 ave 81.2) who similarly have had sub affected Ryder and Spud Kerridge contributing to their score with Hansen, McDonald, Duncan, LeCras & Shuey to come. It's been a tight battle with both teams ruing their subs and spuds, however interest has been maintained with it looking like the result won't be finalised until the last match on Sunday. **Looks like I jumped the gun on your trek Choppers. It's a great match so far, I just have the advantage of 1 sub and 1 spud vs your 2. But don't worry too much yet, I have Hansen and young McDonald to come, this one's going down to the wire.

No probs, E-E. I don't head off into the wilds of Thailand until tomorrow so you if you can handle tomorrow's games, I'd appreciate it. See if you can get me a win....55555

Pakenham has taken the lead against host side Cow Bay.

    Pakenham - 1086/11 (ave 98.6)
    D: Carlisle (116), KSimpson (61), LBrown (57)
    M: GAJ (121), DBeams (115), Barlow (117), Sidebum (68)
    R: Pyke (110)
    F: NRoo (152), Day (72)
    Int: Polec (99)
Still to come: Merrett, Higgins, Bewick, Sinclair

    Cow Bay - 630/9 (ave 70.0)

Pakenham has got the win wrapped up....unless Cow Bays 5 players can outscore Pakenham's remaining 4 by 460 points, an unlikely feat indeed.

Final Score Groote Eylandt (Barracudas) 1,240 def Staghorn Flat (Bulls) 1,117

Big performers for the Bulls were a couple of their veterans Stanton and Kelly both knocking out 25 disposals each. Roughy had eyes in the back of his head for a snap at goal but that was about it as he was subdued for most of the game. For the Bulls Toumpas, Lynch and Cunningham were all named emergencies.
The big McEvoy chalked up 28n hit-outs to be supreme all day. Rampe had a dashing on the run goal to ram it home for the visitors. Mackie and Dahlhaus had a solid performances for the Bulls all day and Bird wore the green vest and came on late in the game and had a good impact but it was all too late.
Sam Reid wasn’t name and had a polished game in the seconds, which didn’t go unnoticed by team management and coach and maybe in contention in getting a gurnsey for the clash of the horned mammals next week.

The Barracudas got started early in Cotchin with 25 disposals and he lifted when needed to but still couldn’t break the ton for this week. Gibbs didn’t have his greatest day and was well held all game only collecting 12 possessions delivering a below par score. Small forward Garlett was inaccurate in front of the sticks botching up a few shots on goal. A turn-over goal from Mzungu was magnificent and one more for the game, he had all guns firing. However, the Logie goes to Jordan Lewis for his on field discretion and it won’t go unnoticed.
The Barracuda’s defence stood out again Burgoyne had an outstanding game with 30 disposals including 8 clearances, Murphy 25 disposals working like a dog and Frawley picked up his output this week.
Spencer folded under pressure and may well be relegated after been given an opportunity, some work still needs to occur for him to fish with the big boys.

What a game, Zorko burned up the field with his blistering performance of 30 disposals and a goal to boot, this kid is a star.
In the seconds Hannebery and Nicholls bounced back with great performance to put it up the selection panel. An off ball incident with Derickx may have angered a few and caught the eye of the white maggots.

With a great finish to the game to chalk up the Cuda’s second win and first on home turf it had the locals going tropical. The bail is open and our lines are already coming off. It’s long and going deep.

What started as a close match ended in a comfortable win for the visiting Sandgropers, the final scores being Bangchang Barcrawlers 1193 ave 79.5, Southern Cross Sandgropers 1280 ave 85.3. The home side had some huge performances from the likes of Selwood, Montagna, Warnock, Swallow and Cooney who all tonned up but were let down by poor scores from Hodge, Shaw & McKernan who couldn't even contribute 100 points combined. There'll be some nervous moments in Bangchang while they await the news on the extent of the General's injury, but after doing such a great job with Ducky maybe the masseur can help with this one too. Southern Cross managed to get the win on the back of a relatively even contribution with only Fyfe, Yarran & Shuey managing to bust 100, although, as with the Barcrawlers, they'll be working overtime to try and get Paddy Ryder back on the field next week as there really is no back-up ruck on their list. So after 2 rounds the 2 sides have contrasting records with the Barcrawlers 1-1 and the Sandgropers 2-0. It's early days in the inaugural ORFFU season but no doubt the Barcrawlers board will be spending the week looking for answers after a disappointing home loss, as well as demanding a positive reaction from the team in their round 3 match. The scoring breakdown by player is below: Bangchang Barcrawlers <table width='534' border='0' cellspacing='0' cellpadding='0] <col width='132' style='width: 99pt;[/img] <col width='114' style='width: 86pt;[/img] <col width='154' style='width: 116pt;[/img] <col width='6' style='width: 5pt;[/img] <col width='64' span='2' style='width: 48pt;[/img] <tr height='17' style='height: 12.75pt;] <td style='height: 12.75pt; width: 99pt;' class='xl78]J.Selwood <td align='right' style='width: 48pt; border-left-style: none;' class='xl85]140

    Hickey 127
