Groper Park update: After a lamentable performance from Freo the visiting Bunyips have left the door ever so slightly ajar for the Sandgropers. Southern Cross had just the one player tonight and are sitting on a score of 76 (ave 38 - donut to come), Blanchetown are currently 249/4 (ave 61.5). There's a long way to go and with the Bunyip's stars yet to play, even the most optimistic Sandgroper fan would only be hoping for a competitive showing.
Late change for the Barcrawlers..... Matthew Shaw: OUT Clay Cameron: IN Cameron goes on to the field in defence while Shaw becomes Def. Emergency.
Grundy 69, McVeigh 84, C. Pearce (DNP), Hombsch - Harwood Masten, Douglas 98, Wellingham, Hill 97 - Christensen West - Apeness Riewoldt 125, Lee, Podsiadly 117, Billings - Kommer Neale 55, Grigg 54 699/9 with 1 donut. Finally Jack Roo proves his worth as the number 1 forward, and Pods scores higher than 30 EDIT: Typical. As soon as I post, the scores come through for the Sydney Adelaide game.
A playing zero from Gilbert! He didn't even have the decency to get injured in the warm-up so I could get the emergency score. Anyways, a very rough count has the Smugglers leading 951/12 (ave 79, Gilbert included) to the Blowflies 570/8 (71).
Bloody late so I'll make it quick. Southern Cross struggling at home on 518/7/74 (Donut for Blease included) with Blanchetown powering on with 1012/12/84. It was always going to be tough for the Sandgropers without Ryder and with the donut from Blease, but some outstanding scores from Duncan and Franklin have helped retain some respectability with both LeCras and Kerridge also getting injured. The locals are seeing the inevitability of the loss but are at least happy with the effort.
Around the grounds and over to Mill Park. Its a tight one this week with the home team suffering from an early injury to Ibbotson and a late withdrawal to McEvoy SFB 1019.5 from 12 ave 84.96 (takes cunninghams oop 59/2) lead Serengeti 753 from 9 ave 83.67 (assuming mclean's 0) Daniher, bastinac & Stanton to come for the Bulls Pittard, Atley, Haynes, goddard, murphy & chappy for Serengeti

I'll show you what I thought my team would look like with predicted averages in brackets and real averages next to them. My pre-season estimates are very wrong, and not all of it is my fault for bad estimations. Too many players not pulling their weight. Too many injuries. The real averages do not include this week <p style='color: #000000; background-color: #ffffff; margin-bottom: 10px;] McVeigh (102) 89.5, Grundy (75) 90, Seedsman (87) 0, Hombsch (85) 82 Steven (112) 0, Masten (105) 87.5, Douglas (102) 117, Hill (95) 98.5 Maric (100) 0 Riewoldt (90) 57, Podsiadly (75) 31.5, Billings (75) 14, Lennon/Lee/Kommer (75) 0 Wellingham (85) 84, Harwood (80) injury affected 42 So, rather under performing by my estimates. 12 players below my estimates. 5 first choice players yet to play a game. Injuries don't help. Forward line has nobody who is averaging above 57. Only 1 person averaging 100 so far. Long season though, fingers crossed it improves. Sorry for the rant and any other whinging I;ve been doing, had to get it out somewhere.
