I'm still holding Ablett and would love to see him play, but, my concern now is that with the GC injuries of the last week or two, it actually gives McKenna and GC an out. There was a chance brewing that GWS may even beat a full strength GC, so now if McKenna holds Ablett out for one more week as a "precaution", then he can save face if his team loses by putting it down to injuries with some of his better players, ie just bad luck not bad coaching. McKenna and GC's survival instincts and a desperate attempt to "save face" may just be enough to keep Ablett out.

Quote from hawks2008 on May 8, 2012, 18:58 @corks thats hilarious!
Agree! Well played old chap well played. I'm starting to think that GAJ won't be playing this week but is getting very closee as they say that Goodes is out for 6 we all know he will be back in 3. It's a gut feeling kinda thing.
I doubt he'll return this week, they'll want him @100% & won't dare risk him if there's even a shred of doubt in their medics assessments.
http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/135303/default.aspx The great ablett debacle of 2012. Continues...
@Gonnadz, What's your basis for thinking Goodes will be back in 3. A hunch due to his durability and injury history?
no, no, no, no, no, you must play on the ball Gaz, there is no other way to 150+pts each week. I do think to prolong his career this will happen at some stage - playing him as a fwd - but surely the time is not now.
He'd still be a scoring machine no matter where he plays, i'll take 30 possies & 3 or 4 goals a game. Gold Coast has just tweeted 25 minutes ago that "Ablett trained well with the team today"
I reckon he'd still score 140 with 15 kicks 10 marks and 6 goals...not to mention the fwd50 tackles! We are talking about Gaz here.
Very nice - good thinking Bluey, bung Ablett up forward for a little bit, ease him back in - definitely let the kids have a go in the middle - they've earned it... that Horsley guy looks the goods. (Pecuniary Interest declaration - I have Horsley, and will be aiming to trade Ablett in) In all seriousness, much better for Ablett to spend a bit of time up forward (especially given the GC's injuries). I'd think that Bluey will give the youngsters more rotations through the middle, and Ablett perhaps one or two fewer a game. One thing I would say though - anyone thinking he can keep up a 150 point average with more frequent rotations through the forward pocket has got rocks in their heads. The ball is simply not down there often enough/consistently enough. There is very little doubt his scoring may drop a touch - not a lot, but just a little - if he plays more forward. Maybe though he will be designated M/F for next year and we can finally find a premium forward worth the money!!

A hunch due to his durability and injury history?
The basis I'm looking at is what other people and history tells us. The media always put the maximum amount of time a player will return as it turns heads and gets people talking. 6 weeks sounds huge and even I was going to trade him right away but I'm starting to think that if you can have goodes on the bench and have cover then why not hang onto him? It won't hurt my team as many of the cows are maturing and I have great cover in all fields. In the end you just have to look at your team and see if you can still be successful. Thats my 2 cents anyways.
Lets assume he plays this week and gets a 110 with some forward line action. His price will drop 7k. Following week say 130. Price will drop another 28k. Following week back to good ol Gaz v Port 160. Price drops 9k. He then continues with his 150avg. Price goes up 11k, 17k, and steadily goes back to 730k So when do you want/need him in? The scores are my guess's but plan ahead so as not to 'get him in at all costs'.
GAJ just FB "Great to be back on the training track today. The knees feeling great". Well its looking more and more likely to play this week but in the fwd line....

@Corks - Club tactics. As a carlton supporter you might say pigsarrrsse, but let's wait and see. I hope the little master does play, it will be good for the game.
Ablett will be named this week, 1000's will trade him back in, and then (Shock, Horror) he's a late withdrawal. Well that's my prediction anyway.
