The boys are warmed up and ready to go. It's just a short bus trip to Coolgardie and most of the Southern Cross locals are primed to be attending their first away match. Local/state pride is on the line and with a core of WA boys in the side there'll be plenty of intensity, determination & commitment on display. Confidence is key and 'The Club' hotel is already booked for the victory party, bring it on!!!

Apologies for the lack of a write up but a quick look at the scores and you will see that the Parasites dominated with 9 of the team tonning up, it was an awesome performance from the team I think should be considered warm favourites for the flag. A midfield to die for, strength up forward and down back with the ruck their only possible weak link, stars on every line! I've been a little remiss posting the Glass Cross votes (probably something to do with the teams poor form), anyway they must be done: Rnd 12 5 Fyfe 5 Swallow (tied on points with Fyfe) 3 Yarran 2 Shuey 1 Docherty Rnd 13 5 Duncan 4 Fyfe 3 Ryder 2 Hansen 1 Swallow Rnd 14 5 Fyfe 4 LeCras 3 Duncan 3Ryder (tied on points with Duncan) 1 Shuey Gold Cross Leaderboard 35 Fyfe 23 Duncan 15 Shuey 14 LeCras, Ryder 13 Yarran 11 Hansen 7 A.Swallow 5 Docherty, Myers 3 Hurley, Taylor, McDonald Good to see the new boys Swallow and Taylor on the board

    With the season officially over the club are pleased to reveal the winner of the inaugural Glass-Cox Trophy. The votes have been locked away since round 14 to help increase the suspense, but nowwithout further ado, the winner of the 2014 inaugural Glass-Cox Trophy is fan favourite and Club Captain Nat Fyfe. It's been a hugeday for local boy Fyfe, taking out the coaches MVP award and now his club champion award. After a season where Fyfe has joined the elite of the competition there was pretty much daylight between himself and the rest of the field. Final votes below: <table width='203' style='width: 152pt; border-collapse: collapse;' border='0' cellspacing='0' cellpadding='0] [span style='color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Times New Roman;] <col width='139' style='width: 104pt; mso-width-source: userset; mso-width-alt: 5083;]</col>[span style='color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Times New Roman;] <col width='64' style='width: 48pt;]</col>[span style='color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Times New Roman;] <tr height='17' style='height: 12.75pt;] [span style='color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Times New Roman;] <td style='border-width: 0.5pt; border-style: solid; border-color: silver silver silver black; width: 104pt; height: 12.75pt; background-color: red;][span style='color: rgb(255, 255, 0); font-size: 13px;]N.Fyfe [span style='color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Times New Roman;] <td align='right' style='border: 0.5pt solid rgb(191, 191, 191); width: 48pt; background-color: transparent;][span style='color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 13px;]56 [span style='color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Times New Roman;]

The board would like to announce the post season changes to the playing list. In what was another active trading period the Sandgropers have traded out 3 players and their first round draft selection to bring in some more potential premium/elite midfield talent. Three Carlton players have been moved on and exciting youth brought in to replace them. In anticipation of some positional changes the decision was taken to bolster the clubs midfield in order to let Mitch Duncan move his stellar scoring to the forward line. The list changes are below; Out Tom Bell Matthew Kreuzer Sam Docherty PSD 5 IN Brad Crouch Will Hoskin Elliot PSD 33 PSD 52 MSD 2nd rnd The board firmly believes that it is only a matter of time before Brad Crouch achieves elite status and that WHE will realise his potential as an unchecked player in a star studded midfield. The board, players & town would like to thank the 3 blue boys for their service to Southern Cross and at the same time welcome their new recruits. After a disappointing 2014 the board are confident that with the development of the list and new additions the Sandgropers should be pushing for a spot in the eight and with any luck the top 6.

The board would like to announce that after much deliberation it has decided to let Mark LeCras join Christmas Island in order for him to hopefully realise his dream of playing in a premiership. It is with much sadness that we have allowed him to move on, however the club firmly believes in helping players fulfil their ambitions rather than keeping them against their will. The loss of LeCras has been offset by the addition of speedy winger Andrew Gaff and PSD 15. Further to this, in breaking news the club wish to announce that they have ontraded PSD 15, coupled with rookie mid Matt Crouch and our 1st round MSD selection to the Nuytsland Vikings in exchange for Cyril Rioli. After trading LeCras it became evident another forward was required, the club acknowledge they have paid a high price to recruit Cyril, howeverwe firmly believe his ability to score heavily and change games will help to push the club to greater heights and possibly deep into the finals. At this point in time we do not envisage any more trading unless an offer is made for a player that is deemed too good to refuse. The club & town are excited with the prospects brought in and eagerly anticipate renewing old & establishing new rivalries in 2015.

After another big off season of trading that saw Southern Cross move on some quality players and picks, the club are proud to reveal your Southern Cross Sandgropers squad for 2021*
    *Best 15 in bold

DEF: Sam Docherty, Michael Hurley, Hayden Crozier, Connor Budarick, Isaac Cumming, Josh Rotham, Brandon Starcevich, Kieren Briggs

Only Doch is guaranteed a place in the starting 15 with all other spots in defence up for grabs. The club hopes to see growth from Starcevich, Budarick and Cumming, which will put pressure on the older players to perform or miss out. Draftee Rotham has been super impressive over the preseason and is knocking firmly on the door for an opportunity. Briggs will get an opportunity to show his wares sometime at the start of the season and shapes as a promising ruck prospect.

MID: Nathan Fyfe, Dion Prestia, Joel Selwood, Dan Hannebery, Devon Smith, James Rowbottom, Willem Drew, Tyler Brown, Thompson Dow

Both Fyfe & Prestia earn their positions based on a history of performing for the club. 2021 however, does see a changing of the guard, with Selwood, in potentially his last season at the club, spending less time in the middle to aid the development of the younger brigade. Both Drew and Rowbottom have had outstanding pre-seasons and look firmly in line to fill M3 & M4. Devon Smith will continue to float all over the ground and will provide handy cover on the interchange. Hanners helps to justify the medical team's salaries, whilst Brown & Dow offer something for the future.

    RUC: Brodie Grundy, Shane Mumford

The recruitment of a best 22 ruckman was a key pillar of the club's recruiting policy. Fortunately for the list managers, they were able to get a deal done for fantasy royalty Brodie Grundy whilst the Vikings hierarchy were still busy celebrating their 2020 Premiership. This section of the list looks thin but the club currently has Darcy Cameron completing an apprenticeship up forward whilst Kieren Briggs hones his defensive skills at the other end of the ground.

FWD: Dustin Martin, Jack Darling, Zac Bailey, Tom Phillips, Mitch Wallis, Lachlan Fogarty, Darcy Cameron, Miles Bergman, Tom Berry

Arguably the team's strongest line after the club were able to bring in Dustin Martin, Tom Phillips and youngster Miles Bergman during the off season. Martin will provide out of the box match winning performances throughout the year, where he will single handedly carry the team across the line. Phillips' running ability and potential to play inside/outside likely sees his stay forward being brief, but his scoring power will be of consequence in 2021. Bailey and Fogarty are slated to improve on the back of greater midfield rotations while Darling and Wallis are solid senior players. Darcy Cameron continues to add further strings to his bow, with the ability to play up forward his current focus while Bergman and Berry are not far into their journey at the club and have both shown some promising signs.

2021 appears to be a season of promise for Southern Cross. A favourable injury list coupled with players realising their potential, should see the club compete for a top 6 spot and a shot at a maiden premiership.

    Go Sandgropers!!!
