With one week left in the trading window there is some breaking news out of Mill Park. Harry Cunningham who has gained DPP over thepre seasonhas expressed a desire to leave the club. Harry has beenoverheard stating 'Over the last month the high rainfall and excessive humidity in the north east of victoriahas been killing me' The club is hopeful of talking him around however will grant his wish should a deal be done. In addition, Jetta, Reid, Apeness, Reddan& Lester remain open to offers.

Bulls - Mid to LateSeason Review The Bulls season teeters on the edge with a 6 & 6 win loss record, sitting one game out of the eight in 13th position. The Bulls started the season slowly with only 1 win from the first 5, however have recovered with 4 wins from their past 5 games. The best win came againstBarracudas in round 8, however two disappointing losses to Eden & Coolgardie see them fighting for a spot in the eight. The Bulls are hoping for a barnstorming finish as per 2014 which saw them average 1346 over the final four weeks in securing eighth spot. BnF Update You cant keep an old dog down and in an up and down year M Boyd has been a standout. Veteran Bull Resigns Important defender Sean Dempster (31) announced a one-year contract extension today, ensuring he will be part of another Bulls finals push in 2016 after enjoying another impressive season. The Bulls have a number of other senior players who have been enjoying solid years in Boyd, Mackie, & Kelly. We expect decisions to be made after consultation with these players at the conclusion of the Bulls finals run in 2015

The season review will follow but the Bulls have disappointingly lost their elimination final to Blanchetown by 18 points. Injuries and some poor form at the wrong time of year meant the Bulls weren't at 100% for the final, however it was 15 on 15 so congrats to Blanchetown for making it through. With a tough start to the year it was a grand effort just to make the finals which the Bulls ought to be proud of. We now look forward to off season trading and the draft. The Bulls have a number of senior players whom we will discuss their futures in the coming weeks, namely Boyd, Mackie & Kelly. In good news Sean Dempster has already resigned for 2016. Their will be a number of nervous under performing Bulls who may not survive the annual cull! Staghorn Flat Bulls - 2015 Season in review:

After a poor start to the season the Bulls rallied in the second half of the year to finish the H&A season in 6th position. In a disappointing Elimination Final the Bulls fell to grand finalist Blanchetown by a small margin of 18 points.

The Bulls were written off in the preseason, billed as a one man team and tipped to finish in a lowly 13th place. The predictions were justified as the Bulls were underdone going in to the season and limped out of the blocks to a 2 and 5 start.

However the Bulls kick started their season in Round 8 with a 94 point victory over the 2015 premiers and won 8 of their next 9 to storm in to the finals and premiership calculations. During this impressive run the Bulls topped the magical 1500 twice underlying the teams scoring potential. However with the highs were some lows as the inconsistent Bulls through up some horrendous scores including 998, 1027 and 1109 in the Elimination Final

The Bulls are keen for 2015 BnF winner Matthew Boyd to continue in to 2016. Boyd won the count on 37 votes from an improved Brent Stanton on 33 votes.

The offseason will be brutal and tough decisions will be made.Some aging Bulls may have played their last games for the Bulls and the Bulls will explore all options in shopping around the prized pick 2 in the draft after some classy wheeling and dealing during the mid-season trade period.

This leaves Boyd as unsigned with James Kelly unlikely to get an extension for 2016 although he is yet to formally announce his retirement. <p style='color: #000000; margin-bottom: 0px; background: transparent;]

 

Boyd to play on Reigning B&F and Bullsveteran Matthew Boyd will play on in 2016 after signing aone-year deal. Boyd has been a revelation across half-back in 2015. 'Playing a new role down back it's been exciting, it's been fun and I've loved the challenge and I'm looking forward to the challenges that lie ahead,' Boyd said.

Some Bulls survived the cull however the blowtorch is being applied. A change of scenery has seen Toumpas & Bird get a reprieve but they now need to start performing.

In positional changes reigning B&F winner Boyd will command the D1 spot in the side. That is about the only upside (Rory Lobb may have gained Fwd Status) frustratingly new recruit Griffen just missed Def Status and Josh Kelly & Lewis Jetta lost FWD status somewhat restricting the flexibility of the team.

The Bulls open the campaign at home against Hughenden and hope to kick start the season on a winning note. They will do so without key forward Roughead who will missing a large chunk of the season with a PCL. Hall, Blair Bird will all need to improve to carry the load.

Round 2 saw the Bulls suffer a narrow 15 point loss to Blanchetown who now hold a 4 - 0 head to head lead over the Bulls. Three of these games have been decided by less than 20 points frustratingly for this coach.

Whilst we're not pointing fingers a few Bulls will have some very brief highlight reels from the weekend. Ibbotson 23 points (he must have been the sub right... wtf no subs??) whilst captain Rocky has again found himself injured after being relatively unsighted for three quarters.

It was the recruits in Griffen and Hall who lead the way, whilst veteran Mackie starred down back and Lynch continues to lead the way in Roughy's absence.

The Bulls return home this week to face the almighty King Island who circa 2015 have shot outta the blocks. The Bulls have tasted victory against the Monarchs before and look forward to squaring up the head to head numbers at 2 all.

Whom replaces Rocky will be the big question with none of fit players in the 2's seriously putting their hand up for a recall.

After four rounds the new kid on the block leads the way. In a dominate start to his career as a Bull Aaron Hall averaging 125.5 ppg has a narrow lead over Tom Lynch (113.5 ppg) who is flourishing in Rougheads absence.

R8 & BnF Update
After 8 rounds the Bulls find themselves in familiar territory with an up and down first 8 weeks. Curiosity killed the cat and inconsistency killed the bull! The Bulls opponents have been saving up some of their best work against us and we have conceded the most amount of points in the FU. Injuries are start to hit the squad hard, as the shocking news filtered through yesterday that Roughy has the fight of his life on his hands - all the best big fella the Bulls wish you well.

In the BnF 2015 boom recruit Coniglio is finally reaping rewards, Boyd continues to do what Boyd does and we hope that we can squeeze a few more years out of him. Lynch is beginning to stamp himself as one of the best key forwards in the comp and one of the steals of the PSD Hall although he has plateaued of late is still averaging 106 YTD. Rounding out the top 5 is a young midfielder Kelly who is having a break out year.
