    Wagga Wagga 1217 d Lovely Banks 1072
Wagga Wagga celebrated securing a finals place with a comfortable win over Lovely Banks.
The Wombats were led by tons from D Swallow (135), Goddard (122) and Cox (107), as well as four further players scoring 90+. A consistent effort across the lines was noted.
For Lovely Banks, well, the Lilacs couldn't take a trick. Three players subbed out, including Mitch Duncan who only scored 4 before having his head buried into the turf, put paid to a last round win. Swan (128) and Corey (120) led the scoring for Lovely Banks.

    Waikikamoocow 1406 d Birdsville 1231
The Incorrigibles warmed up for finals action with a thumping 1400+ score and an easy win over Birdsville.
Seven centuries, led by McVeigh (150), Sauce Jacobs (133), Hibberd (130) and Harry T (119), were more than enough for the Cow-kickers, whose impressive total is definitely sounds a warning to fellow finalists.
Birdsville were led by Mayne's 130, and received a big boost from Wells and Clarke (124 and 120) on the bench. But a couple of low scores up forward to a wayward Cloke and the still-in-need-of-a-gallop Varcoe didn't help the Battlers bridge the gap.

    Foul Bay 1330 d Gundagai 1095
Foul Bay enjoyed an even spread of scorers to seal a 235-point win over Gundagai.
A magical performance from Joel Selwood (16) led the way for Foul Bay, with Mumford and Roughead also playing well. However coach ChiefRussell admits concerns remain over an underperforming forwardline, while boom recruit Chris Judd is out of the finals with injury.
For Gundagai, Rockliff, Lachie Neale, Tomas Bugg and Sam Mitchell cracked the ton for an outfit that showed plenty of improvement and potential once the injury curse started to abate.

    Larrikin Lagoon 1303 d Marble Bar 1173
Appropriately the Lefties notched a win in the ORFFA's Lefties Round, with a 130 point victory over Marble Bar.
A wonderful performance from Gus Monfries (126) spearheaded the team to victory, while Priddis, Curnow, and Suban were among the best of an impressively even effort.
Marble Bar got centuries from Ward, Williams and Steven (sounds like a law firm), but didn't quite have the depth to match the Lefties' output.

    Mt Beauty 1257 d Darraweit Guim 1204
Mt Beauty finished its year on a high, holding on to defeat Darraweit Guim by 53 points.
In the battle of the Richmond-dominated teams, both sides enjoyed some top Tiger scoring - Mt Beauty's trio of Cotchin, Ellis and Martin scoring 100+ and propelling the Uglies to a handy lead heading into the game's late stages.
The lead proved too large for the Blimps to overcome, with a poor game by Brent Harvey and the baffling omission of Mark Hutchings the final nails in the coffin. Cunnington, Westhoff and Betts topped the ton, but the midfield struggles of Harvey (43) and Hill (35 as sub for Hutchings) were noticeable.

    Iron Knob 1461 d Whitsundays 1244
Iron Knob overcame a season-worst game by Gary Ablett to still break 1450 points and run out convincing winners over Whitsundays.
Ablett's 67 didn't matter a jot as seven of his teammates scored 100, headed by the much-improved Richard Douglas, big Will Minson and Jack Darling. The Codpieces remain, quite deservedly, premiership favourites.
For the Warriors, to efforts stoof head and shoulders above the rest - Rory Sloane's stunning 180 and Matthew Lobbe's monstering of all opposition in the ruck for 154. In fact, it was a great effort for the Warriors to get as close as they did given they were around 1.5 players short for the match-up.

    Gariwerd 1329 d Nunawading 967
No ruckman? No worries. Gariwerd rounded off its season in style with a fine 350+ trouncing of Nunawading.
The Cockies were without a ruckman again as Cam Pedersen was unable to play. But that didn't faze them at all, with all sorts of other contributors racking up points. Tippett (130), Christensen, Deledio and Burgoyne were all among the points.
For Nunawading, no century scorers and a shortage of players around the ground didn't help its efforts. Rookie sensation Jaeger O'Meara rounded off his fine first year by top scoring with 94 points.

    Cradle Mountain 1050 d Venus Bay 890
In a low scoring contest, Cradle Mountain ended Venus Bay's finals hopes with a 160 point win.
Lots of injured, out of position and underperforming players across the two teams, with Pendlebury's 150 for Cradle Mountain shining like a beacon. Strangely, he was the only Cradle Mountain player to break 100.
Venus Bay had three centurions - Watson, Watts and Mundy.

    Charlie's Opening 1301 d Powlett Plains 1075
Dan Jackson's resurrection is complete, with the much improved redhead notching his first five-vote Les W performance as Charlie's Opening ran out easy winners over Powlett Plains.
Jackson's 131, backed by Montagna (129) and 104 from late-season reclamation project Shane Savage, were more than enough to help account for the Packers.
For Powlett Plains, veterans Luke Ball, Nick Riewoldt, Troy Chaplin and Kane Cornes all scored 100+. But too much was left to too few, with a number of other players having down weeks.

    The Ladder:
    Iron Knob 60 23688
    Waikikamoocow 56 21648
    Foul Bay 52 22754
    Charlies Opening 48 22006
    Birdsville 44 20955
    Powlett Plains 44 20657
    Darraweit Guim 40 20637
    Wagga Wagga 38 21022
    --------------------------------------
    Gariwerd 38 20672
    Venus Bay 38 20127
    Mt Beauty 36 19965
    Cradle Mountain 28 19780
    Whitsundays 24 19300
    Nunawading 20 18417
    Lovely Banks 14 19360
    Larrikin Lagoon 12 19820
    Marble Bar 12 19304
    Gundagai 8 16524

So we have our eight finalists. And our eight 'almost-finalists'. Congrats to all 18 teams this year for a wonderful home and away round, full of laughter, tears and injuries (or for some, injuries, injuries and injuries).
Seriously though - it has been great to see all 18 coaches so well-invested in the competition this year. It has (from a personal perspective) been a delight to be a part of it.
Let's hope the finals continue the trend and provide a fitting end to the ORFFA season.
