hi guys, my daughter ran second in the trading games last year. im sure she would like to go again in 2012. i havent been around much lately due to work commitments and i havent had a chance to help her compile a report on last season. but hopefully i can get to this soon. thanks for the reminder anthak! Also, a bit disappointing that you arent gonna be involved this year. it was great fun last year!!
J - In tokyo for two nights, kyoto for two nights and Niseko for 9 nights! So excited!!!!!!! any tips?
Hmm.. seems like I misplaced my copy of all my data from last year. So a report from me prob unlikely but I will keep looking. Also, Casey Crushers ran third in the end.. apologies to Buzz who ran second !! Overtaking in the last round I believe

There will definitely be able to be multiple leagues this year with 1 common coach starting all leagues and acting as league admin to keep things simple It may have been mentioned earlier but before the TRADING GAMES team is picked it might be worth getting some general agreement on timing of team selection etc to give everyone whoever enters plenty of time in the pre rd 1 lockout crush. If preseason GF is 17 March then it might be worth discussing the team on Monday 19th, as with last year there's not much benefit getting too hung up on it but maybe set lunchtime Wednesday 21st as the deadline to decide the starting squad of 30 so that there is a full 3 days for everyone to set up their teams and they can then concentrate on their main SC team. I Wouldn't be in favor of tinkering with the team again before the Carltob vs Richmond match or the other 7 matches as there is a pretty good chance that some of the coaches may not end up being able to get the changes in prior to lockout, but if others want to argue differently it would be good to hear a different point of view! Cheers TTH
Regarding the starting structure If everyone make some suggestions it should help to make some early high level decisions on a majority wins basis if there are any contentious points - such as wanting 2 starting ruck premiums or no a particular bye structure. To kick things off My suggestion are - Guns and Rookies - 14/16 or similar - if 14 premiums then the position split could be 5 def-5 fwd-2 or 3 mid-1 or 2 rucks - at least 1 mid with def/mid mpp status linking up with 1or more defs with def/mid mpp - at least 1 mid with fwd/mid mpp status linking up with 1 or more fwds with fwd/mid mpp - the bye structure for the entire squad should be roughly even -ie 10-10-10 or if there are a large number of GWS rookies then it could be 12-9-9 or thereabouts - the bye structure for starting premiums should be make sure that no more than 3 starting premiums in def having same bye - same for starting fwd premiums - no more than 2 starting mid premiums having the same bye - starting premium rucks to have different byes to each other and at least one of these should be in RD 13 [NOTE EDIT from original post - as giles/stevenson have Rd11/12 byes] - if possible get enough starting Syd,Carl,Rich,Bris,Ess,Coll and WCE premiums and rookies to have the option to take a crack at using the partial lockouts I am sure there will be some much better suggestions than mine - don't be shy people's cheers TTH
Not much discussion on this yet. Nice work TTH. I like the idea of Rucks being be Prem/mid/giles/big O. Quick question, are we going for overall points or league win? If league we don't need to worry about bye rounds.
sounds kool is there one spot left? Or shall i sit by the playground alone twiddling thumbs crying, late in the evening, everyone's gone home...
Well done TTH. I agree with most of what you have said. I don't think we should worry too much about mpp in the mids atm due to the good selection of mid rookies without mpp. I also don't think we need to concern ourselves to much on the bye structure (10-10-10) as many starting rookies would have been up/down graded before round 11 but I do agree with your rules on premiums for the bye rounds. Like last year, we need to finalise the team early (we are all in the same boat). The only tinkering after the first match should be due to injury only and not after Tues 27th. I don't mind what team structure is selected as long as its GnR, however would like to see a minimum of 4-3-1-4 for each line.
@buzzboys I agree that pure mids may be more enticing than mpp mids but the reason for proposing mpp structure is to allow any newbies to learn how to use mpp flexibility (particularly with new trading rules) and I was preferring that approach slightly to a strategy of getting the "best available" team however - as above I am happy to go along with majority rules cheers TTH
