<p style="text-align: justify">Hello all and welcome to the Too Serious Donor team of 2012. For those of you who aren’t aware, one of the privileges of being a donor on TS is the opportunity to be involved in the donor team. Last year the team, Ucantbetooserious, managed a top 1000 finish, coming it at number 750-odd, so this year we’re aiming for the top 100! The way it works is each week we set up polls and discussion forums to make our trades, and select captains, benches, and emergencies. Last year the team was run very successfully by Anthak, who has done a wonderful job setting the team up again this year, although the weekly running of the team will now be turned over to Shanaz and myself. <p style="text-align: justify">The team was setup very committe-esq, with everyone selecting a team via the ticker tab. I’ll let Anthak and his tweaking take it away for a bit, with a great summary of how the results came in.
<p style="text-align: justify">[span style="font-style: italic">Ablett was the most voted for, being on 20 watchlists.
<p style="text-align: justify">[span style="font-style: italic">We voted to have 2 midpricers (230k to 450k) and they are Lake and Dangerfield.
<p style="text-align: justify">[span style="font-style: italic">The player with the lowest amount of votes to make the team was Cripps - with 5.
<p style="text-align: justify">[span style="font-style: italic">There were 10 players who had 5 or more votes that didnt make the side. As follows:
<p style="text-align: justify">[span style="font-style: italic">Malceski, Goodes, Chapman, Murphy, Thompson - all on 5 but too expensive (and sexi was on wrong line).
<p style="text-align: justify">[span style="font-style: italic">Clay Smith had 5 too, but we already had a full midfield.
<p style="text-align: justify">[span style="font-style: italic">Coniglio, Hargrave, Morris, Scotland - all had 6, but mids and def were already full.
<p style="text-align: justify">[span style="font-style: italic">Gray was the unlucky one. Gray had 7, and was the first to miss out because of price.
<p style="text-align: justify">[span style="font-style: italic">We have finished with 2 GWS players - Darley and Miles - that have not been selected for this weekend. The two GWS players can easily be fixed up as follows:

<p style="text-align: justify">We went with a pretty standard GnR strategy, with some big name defenders in Goddard, Deledio, Shaw, and to an extent Broughton lining up, while hoping that Lake jumps his way up to premium status for us. We then have four rookies there, with Ellis, Morris, Bugg, and Clarke as our hopeful cashcows!
<p style="text-align: justify">In the mids we went straight to the tried-and-true permacaps of Pendlebury and Ablett! Then there’s Selwood and an underpriced elite player thanks to round 1 last year, and a five-man rookie selection with C. Smith, Ledger, old McDonald (and his two-week reunion with his old mates at the MRP), Shiel, and Magner the Magnet! No real surprises there, and hopefully some great points hauls and cash generation coming from that line!
<p style="text-align: justify">The ruck was the 2-0-2 strategy, with Big Cox headlining the act! He’s ably supported by the Mummy and his brain-fade suspension and injury induced risk, but the reward was just too great. Then there’s the same bench as (probably) 99% of 2-0-2 ruck strategies, with Giles and Redden.
<p style="text-align: justify">Onto the forwards, and we couldn’t go past big Buddy Franklin. We then went with two more premium forwards, in Fyfe and Martin, hoping both will make a bigger bang than they did last year! A couple of mid-pricers follow, with Dangerfield and Porplyzia, followed by the rookies of Cripps, D. Smith, Pfeiffer and Dickson.
<p style="text-align: justify">All in all its a good team, and we definitely hope to be in the top 100 by the end of the year (number one is still the goal, just to prove that committees can get results!). On the leagues front, we’re a full compliment, in “UCantBeTooSerious”, “UCantBe TS”, “TS IGOTATHEORY”, “TS Pine Warmers”, and the “TS – WA League”.
<p style="text-align: justify">As for how round 1 panned out, we decided to take advantage of the Captain’s loophole, picking Mummy as VC last week, and then finally making the decision that his score was rubbish, so the big C went onto one of the regulars... Gary Ablett! Hindsight says it should have gone to Pendles, but who would have thought he’d pump out a 160 in week one? There was a bit of a mix-up with the emergencies and bench players, due to missing the final lock-out, but it didn’t hurt us much in the end, so no harm there! So, how did we go at the end of week 1? <p style="text-align: justify">A score of 2085 puts us in the lowly ranking of 51057th place over-all, and only 367 points behind number one position on the ladder. We had Shiel the emergency take the field for us, in place of Ledger, while everyone’s hindsight should be telling them that Magner the magnet should have been on the field! We got burned by a few more of our decisions (such as the entire backline, where both of our bench players outscored nearly half of our fielded players), but its still only round 1.
