[span style="font-family: Calibri;font-size: small">Not a very good round for the donors, unfortunately.  In the end we didn’t even manage to break the 2000 point mark, which is very disappointing.  We scored a measly 1940 points, ranking us 167,844 for the round!  We’re now 112,060 for the season, so a long way off my personal goal for the team of 100...

[span style="font-family: Calibri">[span style="font-size: small">We didn’t make any trades going into round two, although I hazard to guess there’ll be a couple of guys with their necks firmly over the chopping block, while there are some juicy replacements that we missed at the start of the season who will happily fill the void.  We did play with our captains, benches, and emergencies, as always, with varying degrees of success.

[span style="font-family: Calibri;font-size: small">Captain Pendlebury did well, racking up 254 points for us.  Although not the highest scoring player in the team, we can’t complain about that.  We had Deledio, Goddard, and Ablett outscore him, but Ablett was the only other option we would have selected, and the poll was overwhelmingly in favour of Pendles.

    [span style="font-family: Calibri;font-size: small">

[span style="font-family: Calibri;font-size: small">On the defence we were looking good with Goddard and Deledio out front, while the sharks can stop circling Lake and his 110, however Shaw and Broughton were both a bit of a let down this week.  Our bench selection wasn’t the best, with Morris being the most wanted player on the pine, yet he outscored Ellis, along with both Broughton and Bugg, with a pretty decent 75 to his name.

    [span style="font-family: Calibri;font-size: small">

[span style="font-family: Calibri;font-size: small">The midfield went from good to disastrous!  Pendles as captain was a good selection, although not the best, as he was outscored by 16 points by GAJ.  Duckwoods 112 was good, and Magner the Magnet’s 90 points was great considering he’s only worth $95k (although looking at the stats page, he’ll probably be $195k this time next week).  Having Shiel’s 63 on the pine wasn’t great, especially since we selected C. Smith’s 27 and Ledger’s 17 over him!  I can see a fix-up trade happening here this week.

    [span style="font-family: Calibri;font-size: small">

[span style="font-family: Calibri;font-size: small">In the rucks I’m going to skim over the disaster that was not having an emergency with Mummy on the field (I think there’s a lesson in here), and just say that Giles’ 100 would have been very nice.  Even more-so when we look at Big Cox only getting 89 this week.

    [span style="font-family: Calibri;font-size: small">

[span style="font-family: Calibri;font-size: small">The forwards however let us down more than anything else.  Not one of our players tonned up – which could have been a very different story for us and the Hawks if Buddy would just learn to kick the ball through the goals rather than trying to cleverly dribble it along the ground!  His 89, Fyfe’s 85, and Martin’s 68 were shockers!  On the plus side, Dangermouse got a good 92, while the Porpoise got a great 93, showing that something seems to be working for the crows this year!  D. Smith’s 53 was alright, but Cripps’ 28 was horrible, especially since we had Dicksons’ 38 warming the bench!

    [span style="font-family: Calibri;font-size: small">

[span style="font-family: Calibri;font-size: small">So all-in-all a shocker of a week for the donors.  Lets hope we can make the right fix-up trades, select the bench players well, and make up some of this ground over the next few weeks.  Head over to the donors forum, where we’ll get some discussion going on how to get this team rolling!
