I didn't follow it too closely this weekend, but from what I saw, it was spud central for the Battlers.

Just had a quick look and I think I've only got 4 scores over 90 against 8 scores of 62 or less. I'll be amazed if you can't beat that.

Dramatic changes have happened since the end of the 2012 ORFFA season with 9 new additions to the team, we would like to thank the following for their contributions in our debut season: Daniel Giansiracusa, Jon Giles, Terry Milera, Sam Day, Tendai Mzungu, Heath Scotland, Ed Curnow, Josh Drummond. Each and every one of these men had time in the 1st side, enjoying the luxury view's on top of the sand dune's pre game, and the pre-game pipi's for energy. But with our great loss, we have recieved what I feel as a greater gain, I would like to welcome to Venus Bay, Cale Morton, Matthew Kreuzer, Brent Moloney, Anthony Morabito, Shaun Higgins, Bryce Gibbs, Tyson Goldsack, Jack Watts and Luke Parker. The boys are already enjoying pipi digging and pre season swimming and are ready for a big year next year. Going along with the 2011 averages we have gained about 20 points a game from these trades, although that might not sound like much, we have picked up some much younger players who are bound to improve their scoring, with the average age of the players we gained just 22, and the average age of the players traded out being 25. The boy's have been extremely tempted to jump onto the betting agency's as we are currently paying at $15 to win the premiership next year, but the management and I have had to tell them no to betting money with agency's as it is against the ORFFA rules, instead they are betting pipi's with the locals.

Vulture Mine Tostadas Ingredients: 1 kg ground vulture meat 1 1/4 cups minced raw onion 1 can pinto beans 1 1/3 cups tomato puree 2 tablespoons chili powder 1/2 teaspoon cumin 1 cup chicken stock 1 tablespoon flour 8 cups mashed potatoes 4 cups shredded lettuce (optional) 1/2 cup roughly chopped raw onion 3/4 cup grated penguin Method: Brown ground vulture meat and onion, draining fat. Add pinto beans and tomato puree, cooking 15 minutes. Combine chili powder, flour, chicken stock and a little salt; blend this paste into previous mixture. Cook 45 minutes over low heat, stirring frequently. Meanwhile, prepare mashed potatoes with butter, milk and black pepper, adding only enough milk to ensure rather stiff mashed potatoes. To serve, spread mashed potatoes in center of dinner plate to resemble a 2-inch thick tostada (with a rim around the outer edge). Spoon chili into depression and top with lettuce, onion and grated penguin. Serve with crusty rolls or French bread.

A terrible week for the Vultures on many different levels, firstly we had a 350+ loss to Iron Knob who played great. Disapointing scores from Captain Jobe and Stiffy Johncock, Blairy, Howe and Garlett failed to live up to expectations as well. BUT THE REAL DEVASTATING part of the game was an 8 week injury to Matt Kreuzer, and a season ending injury to star forward Shaun Higgins. This year was a year the Vultures were going for the premiership, but these hopes have been dashed dramatically and there has been talks of a rebuild around the club. Positives from the game was a good score from young up and comer Clancee Pearce, a succesful return from Dan Kerr and Malceski having a solid performance. Much thought will go into the plans for the next year seasons. Team Summary and Pre-Season expectations: So the administration from the Venus Bay Vultures attacked the previous trade period looking for youth, in hope for a premiership in years 2015/16. 2014 is a building year and not much is expected. Our defence is strengthened by the gaining of defence status to Clancee Pearce and we were happy to see M.Shaw retain his status while gaining midfield status. Malceski will lead the defence in 2014. It is hoped in years to come Shaw, Yeo, Pearce and Docherty can lead the team to success with their rebounding abilities however they are still very young and we won't be expecting regular 90s and 100s from them yet. The midfield is the same, trading our previous captain and best and fairest winner, Jobe Watson was a huge loss, but we couldn't be happier to have Dayne Beams on board. We feel he will be one of the top midfielders in the competition in years to come, and feel he could have a huge impact in 2014 if he stays fit. David Mundy has been a regular in the side since the beggining and being the most experienced in the group we are hoping for another good year. We are really hoping Andrew Gaff has a breakout year, having shown glimpses of stardom in previous years we know he has the potential, but weather or not he uses it, we will find out in the season to come. Bryce Gibbs moving into the midfield isn't neccesarly a bad thing as we could use some more experience in there. He has averaged 95+ the last 5 years and we are hoping he can take it another level this year with more midfield time at the blues immenent with Judd aging. Jake Melksham is a welcome addition to the team after we received him in a trade involving A.Fasolo, we feel he has a lot of potential and welcome him to the side, he is in line to debut round 1, he has only missed one game the past 3 seasons, and up'd his average 15 last year to 75. If he could average 85 in 2014 we would be quite happy with that. Hoskin-Elliot and Kavanagh are both developing players and aren't expected to get many games this year. Clint Young is on the chopping block, and unless he proves a little more in pre-season he may be let go. In our ruck division we are happy to have Matt Kreuzer, who is about to enter the prime of his carrer, coming into 2014 aged 24. He averaged 92 in 2012, 97 in 2013, and if he could average 100+ as a ruck in 2014 we would be delighted, but as with all rucks we would like Kreuz to stay fit. Billy Longer is a developing ruckman and will only be played if Kreuz is out, he should get plenty of opportunities at St.Kilda after Mcevoy was traded out, so we hope he can get regular games and develop for possible use in future seasons. The forward line is probably our weakest line on the field, although we are stoked to have Luke Parker as a forward, he averaged 16 more then previous seasons last year, and aged just 20 we can only expect the same or more. We will be sure to make the most of his forward status as it is unlikely he will ever have it again, having regular midfield time at the Swans. Jeremy Howe averaged 72 last year slightly down on the previous year, he will come into the season as a 23 year old, if he wasn't at Melbourne he would be averaging more and scoring higher consistently, his scoring depends highly on how Melbourne perform this year, however we here have payed Paul Roos an amount that will not be disclosed, and can expect him to get more midfield time to improve his scoring. In the deal with Roos we were promised Watts will have a role suited to him better as well, having a D/F status is a massive advantage for Jack, even though it seems he has been failing to live up to expectations for an eternity, he will play the year as a 23 year old so if he can average 80+ we will be happy. Jarryd Blair is younger then most thing at just 23, over the last 4 years he has averaged between 75-90, we hope he can burst into a rotation at Collingwoods midfield and have his scoring around the 90 mark on a regular basis. Shaun Higgins is injury prone, he is on the trade block for anyone interested, when playing we can expect anywhere between 80-100 average from the man, but his injuries are just to consistent, he will not be delisted and we will happily keep him in hope for an injury free year. Gumbleton getting a trade to Freo should improve his scoring and we are looking forward to seeing him develop over the year, Jarred Petrenko is up for trade and is fighting for his spot on the list.
