Alas the Wombats won in the battle of the Swallows... sounds like a Ornithologist's nirvana or a seedy c-grade p0rn movie <p >Well played Lenny... even the points I had on the emergency Line with Hill wouldn't have got me over the line. More consistency needed from the Spelunkers.

It certainly wasn't a lack of effort, the lads from Cradle Mountain outplayed us on the day and we couldn't adjust to the conditions over there. We were outclassed in the midfield and that is an area we will be working on at training this week, in preparation for our round 4 clash home to Gundagai. B&F votes: 3. Cox 2. Goddard 1. T.Hunt
Round 4 review An important win this week for the Wombats against Gundagai to remain in the top 8 at 3-1. The defence stood up tall this week and despite a late charge from Darraweit, the boys held on and marched on to 5-1. ROUND 7 REVIEW A very tough match this one... the Lefties gave us a great contest (and supply of beers) all the way to the final stages of the match. Very unlucky late out for them gave us our 6th win of the season and we are continuing to press for a top 4 spot. Once again, the boys aren't getting ahead of themselves.. especially not before a very tough week ahead. We look forward to hosting Iron Knob in what should be a hard fought contest. Round 8 Review In a match that was much anticipated, it was unfortunately a let down, with the Codpieces proving too strong. The firepower in the midfield was where it was won and lost, according to coach Lenny: 'We got hammered in that area' (clearances) Lenny said. 'It certainly wasn't a lack of effort, but they were just that little harder at the ball and arrived first on most occasions.' When asked if Dayne Beams missing was crucial to the loss, Lenny said: 'Obviously he's a crucial asset to the team, but our young blokes have been stepping up well. We are hopefully he will only be 2-3 weeks away.' The Wombats now sit 6-2 and are still well in the hunt for a crack at the top 4, however another tough game against reigning premiers Foul Bay on the road will be a real challenge and will show where we are really at as a unit. ROUND 10 REVIEW The Wombats have been hit with a huge wake up call, getting hammered by a very good Powlett Plains outfit. In a disappointing home crowd turnout, the crowd shortened as the match went on, and most of them left us with a gift by throwing their beer cups on the field during play. One fan threw a heavy plate which knocked out Dempsey, leaving the match all over by half time. We now sit at 6-4 from 6-1, but still see ourselves in a good position to make the top 8.
