Yeah, definitely second Graeme's sentiments there. Mr Ahern was the second name on my list for my last MSD pick and I would've nabbed him over Cooney if you hadn't wisely got in and grabbed him back.

Hope he can overcome this one and get back on the park really soon. He seems a quality player.

Terrible luck for him, still has heaps of time on his side so hopefully he has another good recovery. Will have to consider my options on whether to keep him or move him on.

    Quick 2016 Review:

A slightly disappointing 2016 saw Wagga Wagga finish 11th on the ladder to miss out on finals for two consecutive seasons. Whilst we had some good wins, we weren't able to produce consistent performances and to force our way into the top 8. Positives from the season was Bryce Gibbs securing his first B&F for the club, as well as great efforts from Dylan Shiel and Josh Jenkins who finished 2nd and 3rd respectively.

    2017 Review:

It wasn't a great year for the Wombats, with a combination of injuries to important players and poor form leading to a consecutive years of missing the top 8.

    Ladder position: 15th
    Best and Fairest: Clayton Oliver
    Finals: N/A

A special mention to Clayton Oliver who was absolutely outstanding in his second year in the system, winning the inaugural B&F award at just 20 years of age.

    2018 Preview

After making the grand final in Wagga Wagga's second year in the ORFFA, we now have missed the finals for three straight years. Whilst this is far from ideal, we have now identified the squad to be in a transitional phase, with a focus now on bringing young players into the squad whilst also trying to keep the squad stabilized with some experienced players.

With this, the following changes have been made so far at this stage of the preseason:

    TRADES:

IN: Ed Langdon, Cam Guthrie, Nathan Hrovat, Jake Melksham, Brodie Smith
OUT: Blake Hardwick (Gundagai), Bachar Houli (Gariwerd), Josh Jenkins (Gariwerd)

    DELISTMENTS:

    - Jeremy Finlayson
    - Scott D. Thompson
    - Ben Long
    - Liam Picken
    - Kurt Tippett (Retired)

    DRAFTEES:

    #4 - Luke Davies-Uniacke (Mid)
    #17 - Lochie O'Brien (Def/Mid)
    #19 - Ed Richards (Def)
    #22 - Jarrod Brander (Fwd/Def)
    #36 - Matthew Ling (Def)

This leaves our current squad of 28 looking like:

DEF: Brodie Smith, Sam Mayes, Jamie Macmillan, Tom Barrass, Lachlan Plowman, Cedric Cox, Jordan Ridley, Isaac Cumming, Lochie O'Brien (D/M), Ed Richards, Matthew Ling

MID: Clayton Oliver, Bryce Gibbs, Dylan Shiel, David Swallow, Cameron Guthrie, Ed Langdon, Will Setterfield (M/F), Luke Davies-Uniacke

    RUC: Scott Lycett

FWD: James Sicily (F/D), Nathan Hrovat, Jake Melksham, Jamie Cripps, Hayden Crozier, Jarman Impey, Paul Ahern (F/M), Jarrod Brander (F/D)
