This episode is called: What an exciting weekend at the trade table and how it can ruin your Super Coach scores. First up with Pick #51 we secured the services of Grant Birchall. While Grant comes with a 3 year warranty, he had a bit of a niggle and there was no way we could get him off the beach to go to cold old Launceston. Bit of a straight guy, but we are sure he will fit in well. Our next pick soon arrived at #58 and by this time we were humming 'keeper', so decided to opt for some youth. We think Griffin was the best ruck on the table, but with Sandi back it seems Zac Clarke always gets the second gig. So we opted for youth coupled with some good coconut picking abilities and picked up Matthew Lobbe. With a first name like that he is assured of game time from Primus. Then it was a long wait, interspersed with some entertaining chat, before #87 came up and we could nab Tom Hawkins. We are convinced The Tommahawk is the real deal this year, fits nicely with our youth policy and will be a very handy addition for chopping down coconut trees. Just when it was way past everyone's bed time, #94 came up and we swooped on the boy from Emerald, Rory Sloane. "Roaring" will be another youthful addition to the Warriors and we can spend many an evening around the barbie swapping Dandenong stories. Not real happy with what he did to Port this very same day, but Warrior priorities have to come first. Who knows what tomorrow may bring?

Quote from Lenh191 on April 29, 2012, 22:53 Love the blonde lumberjack, any chance of a trade?
Seems reluctant to get on the table Len. Can be a bit of a problem at times with forest maidens. Nice avatar BTW.
Our Eddie McGuire moment......... It has come to our attention that there have been a few snide suggestions in the ether questioning the morals and purpose of our club. Let me say once and for all, that we are running a franchise. Running a franchise is no different to running a business and as every successful businessperson knows, you have to have something to attract the punter to the product. Nonetheless, let me reassure you that this is the Whitsunday Warriors and not Canterbury-Bankstown. Our club has always put family first, has strong family values and barbeques and our ethos has always been community takes precedence. Clearly, you cannot have players and their relatives running around in skimpy clothing at Mawson Base, but it is hot up here and while we apologise if it offends the morals of Melbournites, who don't know what to wear from one day to the next, on Hook Island we have this phenomenon called sunshine and must adjust our lifestyles accordingly. Nasturtiums will not grow in this climate. Do not cast them.
New Stadium To Be Ready For 2012 Season! Work is progressing ahead of schedule on our new state-of-the-art stadium. By bringing in Thai labour, progress lost during the early onset of the monsoon has been overcome and construction now back on schedule. The main frame has already been completed (see photo), although the finished product will have an entirely different appearance. The pirate ship that carried the labourers from Thailand is just visible on the left. .

We can now reveal that the reason Birch didn't join the party in Launceston was due to an injury received while wading in the Hook Island shallows. Unfortunately he trod on a rather nasty sea urchin, which may keep him out for another week or two. .
Meanwhile, Rory and his fiancee say they are thrilled to be making the move to Hook Island. "It just seems so different to Adelaide," said Rory. "Unfortunately, it means a whole new summer wardrobe, but I am looking forward to getting a tan." .
Things that I think that I don't like: 1. Gazza's canary. I mean if you are going to tweet that everything is sweet, make sure it is first. 2. Fyfe attending training. Inviting disaster. Ross Lyon should know better. 3. Carlton resting their stars. Including Josh Kennedy. 4. Hornsy infringing copyright. Or is it the highest form of flattery. 5. Coaches sleeping on the job. Things that I think that I do like: 1. Dunstall's new haircut and Dermie's comb over. 2. The Warriors new acquisition, Matthew Lobbe. This guy will be a star of the future once he learns how to dance.

Not sure why you're talking up Lobbe. As an owner of him, I'm getting all Marvin from H2G2 about him. Sloane is an absolute steal at that pick though, he went only 2 rounds later in our draft and we didn't have proof of his capabilities yet.

Quote from Hornsy on May 1, 2012, 20:18 I did.
Of course you did H. You're not a fool. And tell Outa Port I'm not talking up Lobbe. I'm simply getting someone experienced to give him dancing lessons. As you would do for a friend in any civilised league. In addition to guest appearances from Robbo to keep all our language skills nice and sharp, it now looks like I'm going to have to introduce a trans-league Tool of the Week. You still here Port? Man's like a bloody limpet. .
