Week 1 recap: A big round of finals last week have seen 2 more teams say goodbye to season 2016. Well done to both @thokash Jan Juc Ducks and @ViQBoZ Mole Creek Glow-worms for fine seasons making the inaugural ORFFF finals. The Ducks could not contain @YAD69 Useless Loop Virgins' midfield who ran rampant and led them to a comfortable victory, and the Glow worms put up a decent fight against @Len Cockburn Avengers however were ultimately outclassed and lost by the biggest margin of the finals of 279 points. The top two teams got through the first game ok and have earned a week off this week, however it didnt go completely to plan for @stowie Drouin Dropbears who were pushed all the way by @choppers Chinchilla Chumps to only win by 29 points. @That KI Guy Neptune Island Noahs got there a tad more easily with a very strong defensive performance limiting @TheTassieHawk Black Swamp Twentyniners to a dismal 1081 to win by almost 200 points. Week 2 ORFFF Finals Fixture (AFL Round 20) - as always first named is the home side once again, A HUGE thanks to @TheTassieHawk for helping to compile the stats and past games data used below Black Swamp 29ers (3rd, 10-5, 1306 regular season average) vs Useless Loop Virgins (7th, 8-7, 1247) --- Recent form (last 6) - Black Swamp – WWWWLL (4-2, average 1343ppg), Useless Loop – WWLLWW (4-2, average 1259ppg) Last time they played (2016, ORFFF Round 15) – Useless Loop Virgins 1333 defeated Black Swamp 29ers 1282 (51 points) http://tooserious.net/forum/threads/orfff-2016-round-15.89587/ http://tooserious.net/forum/tsLeagueMatchday.php?leagueId=14&round=18 Round 15 Brownlow votes and other tons Useless Loop : Priddis 143 (5 votes), K Simpson 125 (2 votes), S May 121 (1 vote), Neale 109, R Gray 109, Sidey 105, Mundy 100, Black Swamp : Bartel 130 (4 votes), J Selwood 128 (3 votes), Viney 118, Bont 109 the last time these two teams met was only just a couple of weeks ago, with useless loop snapping a 4 game black swamp winning streak and shoring up a finals spot for themselves in the process. black swamp now get the opportunity for redemption on their home turf with the season on the line for both teams. it should be an enthralling battle and the winner will have a date with the top-of-the-table dropbears in the prelim final. ***** Chinchilla Chumps (4th, 10-5, 1286 regular season average) vs Cockburn Avengers (5th, 9-6, 1315) --- Recent form (last 6) - Chinchilla – LLWWLL (2-4, average 1211ppg), Cockburn – WWWWLW (5-1, average 1303ppg), Last time they played (2016, Round 9) – Chinchilla Chumps 1357 lost to Cockburn Avengers 1397 Rd 9, 2016 (40 points) http://tooserious.net/forum/threads/orfff-2016-round-9.89476/ http://tooserious.net/forum/tsLeagueMatchday.php?leagueId=14&round=9 Round 9 Brownlow votes and other tons Chinchilla : Picken 126 (3 votes), Zorko 120 (1 vote), JPK 119, Grundy 118, NicNat 106, Kerridge 105 Cockburn : Shaw 203 (5 votes), Tippett 141 (4 votes), Ward 124 (2 votes), Treloar 115 despite chinchilla struggling of late, these two teams are clearly two of the top teams in the competition and it will be ahame that one of them cannot proceed to the preliminary final, but that is what finals are all about i guess. their last clash was the 10th highest aggregate match score in orfff history, with chinchilla scoring the 6th highest losing score in orfff history in the process. you may remember that heater shaw pulled out a late 203 for the win when the game had looked lost. should be a cracking match between these two sides, with the winner moving forward to play the Noahs. ------------------------ 3rd week Dropbears vs 29ers/Virgins Noahs vs Chumps/Avengers ------------------------- Finals team entry/Matchday reporting etc is at http://tooserious.net/forum/tsLeagues.php?leagueId=14 Previous Round threads are below http://tooserious.net/forum/threads/orfff-finals-preview.89604/ http://tooserious.net/forum/threads/orfff-2016-round-15.89587/ http://tooserious.net/forum/threads/orfff-2016-round-14.89582/ http://tooserious.net/forum/threads/2016-orfff-round-13.89545/ http://tooserious.net/forum/threads/orfff-2016-round-12.89518/ http://tooserious.net/forum/threads/orfff-2016-round-11.89504/ http://tooserious.net/forum/threads/orfff-2016-round-10.89495/ http://tooserious.net/forum/threads/orfff-2016-round-9.89476/ http://tooserious.net/forum/threads/orfff-2016-rivalry-round-round-8.89461 http://tooserious.net/forum/threads/orfff-2016-round-7.89450/ http://tooserious.net/forum/threads/orfff-2016-round-6.89431/ http://tooserious.net/forum/threads/orfff-2016-round-5-anzac-round.89422/ http://tooserious.net/forum/threads/orfff-2016-round-4.89406/ http://tooserious.net/forum/threads/orfff-2016-round-3.89389/ http://tooserious.net/forum/threads/orfff-2016-round-2.89381/ http://tooserious.net/forum/threads/orfff-2016-round-1.89362/
I promise you that Useless Loop won't be getting any assistance through the swampy patches between the clubrooms and the playing arena this week. Let's rumble again @YAD69 !
Chinchilla welcome Cockburn to our part of the world for this week's semi-final, and hopefully we may be able to put some more bodies on the field to give a more even contest. Having 6 of our best 15 out injured for the past 4-5 games hasn't helped but hopefully we can get Naitanui or Currie, and Caddy back this week, although we will still be missing Adams,Hall and Higgins. The Avengers have been flying and doing a great job with 3 of their stars (Murphy Boyd and Tippett) missing as well. Cockburn have depth all over the park, due mainly to some very astute drafting by their Football Dept. This should be a cracker. Bring it on..........
Indeed, looking like a very close matchup, the Avengers team sheet is being debated at the moment, do we favour long term averages or recent form spikes, I need a lucky 8 ball
This is what the lucky 7 ball (we couldn't find an 8) came up with on it's debut in the selection committee, whilst not enthusiastic about the new selector the committee felt it gave them a perfect scapegoat if the faeces hit the rotary oscillator.. Good luck to all playing this weekend. I'd also like to announce Drouin's newest recruit Kade, who arrived last Friday afternoon. Everyone is doing well, but appreciating the week off to catch some extra sleep!
Daniel McKenzie has taken ill so will be unable to take his place as MIDFIELD Emergency while Jarman Impey has come in as INTERCHANGE Emergency.

The semi-finals have kicked off in Chinchilla and the visiting Cockburn have jumped out of the blocks and lead the home team 2/138 to zilch. Treloar in the midfield has starred for the visitors, racking up a very solid 98, while Megan's other half has allowed the very loud, parochial Chinchilla crowd get to him, and as a result, has under-performed, scoring a measly 40. I'm sure the Avengers footy dept. were wishing Tippett was available for this clash. This game will really get going, once the home team decide to come out of the sheds. More to follow................
I have progress scores after the Giants and Suns games as:- Virgins @YAD69 513/6 leading 29ers 512/5 and Avengers @Len 532/7 leading Chumps @choppers 288/4 with 13 players in play in tonights AFL matches
