The pre-season is almost over and we await announcement of the Carlton vs Richmond sides on Wednesday night and 22/25 man sides for the rest on Thursday night.

7 man interchanges for Sunday squads are normally officially cut by 5pm Friday, although for Round 1 there are often Round 1 debutant stories on afl.com.au and club websites.
    -----
Here is a table of the most popular SC rookie options (including floating donuts) by position and game sequence up to and including David Swallow at $280k, with their JLT stats (games, avg, tog avg), ownership % per SC Gold as of Sunday night and page # in the 2017 prospectus.

    rookies.png
Note Mountford (2 JLT games, average 60 from 51% TOG, prospectus page 261) for NM and Joel Smith (2, 64, 76%, page 248) for Melbourne have been named as debuting but are not included in the above table.

Feel free to comment or pose questions below as teams drop or if you are aware of the all important rookie elevations which signal which rookie listed players are in the frame for Round 1

and remember that Rate my team advice can be sought at http://tooserious.net/forum/threads/rate-my-team-2017.89779/

Good luck as you make your last minute Round 1 decisions peeps !

I took Steele out of my forward line at the start of the week and it makes it look better, ultimately you have to back GNR as much as possible no matter the temptation.

      LATE CHANGES
Carlton: Jed Lamb (knee soreness) replaced in selected side by Harrison Macreadie
      Richmond: Nil

      FINAL INTERCHANGES
      Carlton:
Sam Petrevski-Seton, Billie Smedts, Charlie Curnow, Simon White
Richmond: Nick Vlastuin, Bachar Houli, Sam Lloyd, Kamdyn McIntosh

      Quirky fact

Carlton draftee Sam Petrevski-Seton will be making his debut without having played any pre-season games. This is not the first time this has happened.

Since 2010, it has occurred on eight other occasions. Three of those came in 2011 – North Melbourne's Cam Pedersen, Fremantle's Jayden Pitt and Melbourne's Luke Tapscott all lined up in round one that year.

Petrevski-Seton was selected at No.6 in last year's NAB AFL Draft but was struck down by a left quad strain in February.

This list does not take into account any practice matches the individuals might have taken part in.

      2015
      Angus Brayshaw (Melbourne)

      2014
      Patrick Ambrose (Essendon)
      Lewis Taylor (Brisbane Lions)

      2011
      Cameron Pedersen (North Melbourne)
      Jayden Pitt (Fremantle)
      Luke Tapscott (Melbourne)

      2010
      Ben Howlett (Essendon)
      Relton Roberts (Richmond)

At this stage no to Macreadie and I wont risk it with SPS. Willing to gamble a correction trade in a couple of weeks. In my team tonight, which I don't think will change: Docherty, Marchbank, Nankervis, Pickett. Oh I missed Smedts, yeah still undecided on him.

It is. Don't look at my rucks, M6-M7 or F3-F4

I actually hate how the game is becoming harder to go GnR, think it adds more randomness into it.

I decided against SPS and Maccreadie as the clock counted down, kept Butler and Pickett in the team, brought Marchbank in to solidify the defence and will now crunch the numbers and play around with the structure a bit before the Dogs and Pies match, with WHE named and English not that game won't factor much and I will be able to tinker until Saturday lunchtime.

Full teams now up, Emergencies to be decided officially Friday night - keep an eye out for announcements prior. Opening Post to be updated again Friday night.
