Following nominations we have 54 teams entered into TS ORFF* Knockout Competitions this year. The 2018 format will be quite different this year so hopefully this can explain it fairly simply.

13 teams have qualified for the 2018 ORFF* Champions League between Rounds 7 and 11 (no play in Round 10). 2 further teams have secured a half qualifying spot for the Champions League and will clash in a winner takes all Round 6 Champions League Playoff contest and then enter the Champions League in the Round of 16 in Round 7.

39 other teams will be competing in the 2018 ORFF* Knockout between Rounds 2 and 7, 25 of these teams will have a bye in Round 2 and enter the completion in Round 3 while 14 teams will battle it out in Round 2.

As well as securing the 2018 Knockout title the winning Knockout Grand Finalist will secure an additional Champions League spot and will enter that competition in the Quarter Finals the next week – ie Round 8.

2018 Champions League allocations occurred as follows
    - 12 spots based on 2017 League placings - 3 spots to each competition including Premiers and next 2 highest ranked other sides based on 2017 Home and Away ladder position (excluding teams who did not nominate) - ie Sarah Island, Mallacoota, Tarwin Lower, Waikiks, Venus Bay, Marble Bar, Serengeti, Southern Cross, Nuytsland, Mt Thirsty, Drouin, Jan Juc
    - 1 spot to the 2017 ORFF* Knockout winners – with Nuytsland winning the 13th direct spot nominally goes to the Vikings and as they had already qualified then Groote Eyland were added as the next highest nominated ORFFU side after home and away
    - 1 spot to the 2018 ORFF* Knockout winners (entering at the Quarter Final stage)
    - 2 half spots to the 2017 ORFF* Knockout Runners up and 3rd place teams – Rutherglen and Jan Juc. As Jan Juc had already qualified then Neptune Island were added as the next highest nominated ORFFF side after home and away. As above Rutherglen will host Neptune Island in Round 6 with the winner playing in the Champions League Round of 16 in Round 7.

First Round ORFF Knockout byes were allocated to teams finishing top 12 on 2017 Home and Away ladder positions for the ORFFL, ORFFA, ORFFU and ORFFF (excluding the teams who qualified for the Champions League). Ivanhoe and Pakenham were the lucky 13th placed teams in also gaining a bye while Wineglass Bay and Black Swamp will playoff with the teams lower ranked 14-18 in the first weekend of competition in Round 2.

With no further ado please note that the following Knockout draw is for Rounds 2-5 only. Following Round 5 the Knockout Semi Finals and Champions League draw will be advised.

Have just had an atrocious week with injuries. Newnes got knocked out early, two of my emergencies got hurt and now Caddy is out too. Not the only one though, with Higgins getting cleaned up as well. Not great for either of us!

In Match 35 The Coolgardie @JPK side have calculated themselves as 11/974 in the ORFFU round thread and by my count I have the Tamarama Beach @graeme side trailing on 12/973.

The Prospectors have Astbury, Aish, C Brown and Fantasia still to play while the Glamas are going to need massive games from their Bombers trio of Heppell, Stewart and TBC if they are any chance of taking out the matchup.

I've been away for the weekend and watching in despair as player after player failed to perform or managed to get themselves injured. The fact there is even a contest at this stage is somewhat of a pleasant surprise. Hopefully for both our sakes the remaining players manage to survive the match and put in some solid performances.

By my calculations after tonight's game the scores move onto 13/1007 for the Whales with WHE & Murray still to play, while Darraweit Guim are 13/1008 with WHE & Goddard yet to come. So it comes down to Murray + 1 point v Goddard.

What is the plan should we play out the first ORRF* knockout tie @TheTassieHawk ?

It has been a funny old match up Darran. Best of luck to you tomorrow, and hope your injured guys get back real quickly as well.

Fantasy Footy Eliminator Comps (including those run here on TS) have consistently used the most points scored for the season tiebreaker, so we will roll with that. As such in the event of a draw in this match the Dirigibles would proceed to the Semi Finals.

Surprised the glamas got this far or this close. With the effect of the injury to Buddy our chance of a winning score had all but disappeared. Like may in my home country we will just have to rely on the cows. :p

2018 ORFF* Knockout Semi Finals and ORFF* Champions League Match as per http://tooserious.net/forum/tsLeagues.php?leagueId=20&round=6

The 2018 Knockout reaches the final 4 stage with each team eyeing a spot in the big Dance. In a fortnight the winner of the silverware will be playing in an ORFF* Champions League Quarter Final Clash with the Winner of the Round of 16 match between Sarah Island @4nsy and Marble Bar @Len.

2018 ORFF* Knockout Match 36 Christmas Island Smugglers ORFFU @DamoH vs Darraweit Guim Dirigibles ORFFA @chris88

      How they got here

Christmas Island (4-1 in the ORFFU, 6546 points scored)
Rd 3 - def Charlies Opening Spelunkers ORFFA 1131 to 836 (295 points)
      Rd 4 – def Banchang Barcrawlers ORFFU 1382 to 1228 (154 points)
Rd 5 - def King Island Monarchs ORFFU 1299 to 1231 (68 points)

Darraweit Guim (5-0 in the ORFFA, 6405 points scored)
Rd 3 - def Heard Island Shags ORFFF 1444 to 1209 (235 points)
Rd 4 - def Lovely Banks Lilacs ORFFA 1205 to 1099 (106 points)
Rd 5 - def Macquarie Island Whales ORFFF 1192 to 1143 (49 points)

The first Semi Finals see the 9th clash between FU and FA teams in the 2018 knockout with the honours currently even at 4 apiece. Both teams have survived 3 progressively closer matches however Darrweit Guim makes the long trip to Christmas Island as slight underdogs in a match that seems destined to go down to the wire.

2018 ORFF* Knockout Match 37 Cockburn Avengers ORFFF @Len vs Coolgardie Prospectors ORFFU @JPK

      How they got here

Cockburn Avengers (4-1 in the ORFFF, 6088 points scored)
      Rd 3 - def Glenrowan Gunslingers ORFFL 1048 to 908 (140 points)
Rd 4 - def Cradle Mountain Devils ORFFA 1284 to 1180 (104 points)
Rd 5- def Useless Loop Virgins ORFFF 1397 to 1252 (145 points)

Coolgardie Prospectors (3-2 in the ORFFU, 6114 points scored)
Rd 3 - def Wagga Wagga Wombats ORFFA 1152 to 931 (221 points)
      Rd 4 - def Coulta Couldabeens ORFFL 1382 to 1208 (174 points)
Rd 5 - def Tamarama Beach Glamas ORFFL 1255 to 1220 (35 points)

Cockburn has won all 3 knockout matches by 100 plus while Coolgardie had to dig deep before squeezing their way past Tamarama Beach in the Quarter Finals. The second semi final is only the 2nd FU vs FF clash in the 2018 knockout and is the first ever time each side has played a team from that competition. The bookies cannot split the two teams. Fun Fact - Brandon Parffit plays for both sides so hopefully he tons up this weekend in a high scoring contest.

2018 ORFF* Champions League Match 1 Rutherglen Fugitives ORFFF @tyze1 vs Neptune Island Noahs ORFFF @That KI Guy
The Fugitives were 2017 ORFF* Knockout Runners up and Neptune Island qualified for this Round 6 playoff match as 5th best ORFFF side in 2017 of those who nominated, after taking out the ORFFF premiership in 2016.

I rate these 2 sides as co-favourites in the 2018 ORFFF premiership race and the winner of this derby tussle will host Mallacoota @thokash from the ORFFL in the ORFF* Champions League Round of 16 in Round 7.

Coolgardie @JPK are obviously the team paying Brandon the larger salary as he has failed to show up for the game leaving the Avengers @Len a player short with Majak Daw filling in for the Prospectors to provide the visitors with a 15 vs 14 player numerical advantage early in the contest.

We have a score update from the Vineyard ar Rutherglen, as per score updates on the ORFFF round 6 thread.

Midway through the 3rd quarter the home side are 10/798 @tyze1, narrowly leading the visiting Noahs 9/763 @That KI Guy .

The Fugitives have Salem, Parish and Goddard running out in the early Sunday game against the Noahs trio of Gawn, D Smith and Tyson.

Pendles and Cotchin for the home side then tussle with Howe and Sidebottom for the visitors in the 3.20pm match before Neptune Island's Andrew Gaff is tasked with reeling in any Rutherglen lead in the final term of a match that could go either way.

The Avengers @Len are all done for 1017 in the other knockout semi final.

The Prospectors @JPK are lurking on 10/804 and barring catastrophe are well placed to take this one out.

Sunday proceedings commence with Astbury, Aish and Callum Brown. Liam Duggan and Willie Rioli will complete the contest in the late Sunday match.

      AFL Round 7 - as per http://tooserious.net/forum/tsLeagues.php?leagueId=20&round=7

ORFF* Knockout Grand Final (Match 38)
For the second year running it will be an ORFFU side taking out the ORFF* knockout title as Christmas Island @DamoH hosts the Coolgardie @JPK side at Flying Fish Cove in the knockout Grand Final match.

      How they got here

Christmas Island (5-1 and 3rd in the ORFFU, 7836 points scored)
Rd 3 - def Charlies Opening Spelunkers ORFFA 1131 to 836 (295 points)
      Rd 4 – def Banchang Barcrawlers ORFFU 1382 to 1228 (154 points)
Rd 5 - def King Island Monarchs ORFFU 1299 to 1231 (68 points)
Rd 6 - def Darraweit Guim Dirigibles ORFFA 1290 to 1135 (155 points)

Coolgardie Prospectors (3-3 and 7th in the ORFFU, 7158 points scored)
Rd 3 - def Wagga Wagga Wombats ORFFA 1152 to 931 (221 points)
      Rd 4 - def Coulta Couldabeens ORFFL 1382 to 1208 (174 points)
Rd 5 - def Tamarama Beach Glamas ORFFL 1255 to 1220 (35 points)
      Rd 6 - def Cockburn Avengers ORFFF 1044 to 1017 (27 points)

Christmas Island has already defeated 2 fellow ORFFU sides on their way to the Big Dance and will have a crucial home ground advantage putting them around 100 point favourites with ORFF* bookmakers. Coolgardie has defeated sides from each of the other 3 comps on their cup run with comfortable victories in Rounds 3 and 4 followed by 2 close ones which have the Prospectors going into the Grand Final battle hardened and believing in their ability to upset the favourites.

I am hopeful that @DamoH and @JPK will add some banter and post some live score updates through the weekend so that we can follow all of the action at home.

ORFF* Champions League Round of 16
Match 2 - Mt Thirsty Boozers ORFFF @leematty1 vs Groote Eylandt Barracudas ORFFU @YAD69 - a replay of their 2017 ORFF* knockout clash won by the ORFFU side, Jamie Cripps suits up for both sides.

@JPK has gone AWOL for a few weeks so I'm looking after his team and one of my duties is to inform @TheTassieHawk that his team is named Coolgardie Prospectors not Calgoorlie as listed above.;););)
However another one of my duties is to ensure there'll be a Match Report and as @DamoH is the home team here as well as in ORFFU, then I am prepared to assist my opponent by doing the Match Report as long as he promises this time, not to house The Prospectors in the dis-used Refugee Immigration Centre as has been the case recently.

While we are reluctant to give up such a huge part of our home ground advantage (95% of the Smugglers’ intimidating record at Flying Fish Cove Park is due to the squalor we force on visiting teams), in celebration of the fact that this is the first Grand Final we’ve hosted, we’ll make an exception for the Prospectors.

I'm still lurking when I can.
Thanks @TheTassieHawk for all your hard work with the inter ORFF* comps.
Thanks @choppers for looking after the team (although I'm blaming you for the relatively abysmal showing from my defence this week - is Aish injured now???).
Thanks @Len for the matchup and for always being a great sport.
Finally, thanks @DamoH for putting the boys up in the "Ritz". They're all very excited.

Looks like there may need to be some deck chair shuffling out Coolgardie way this week.

It's half-time at Flying Fish Cove, Christmas Island in the knockout GF and the visiting Coolgardie Prospectors hold a slender lead over the Smugglers 13/1146/88 to 10/768/76.8.
Sicily145, has been the shining light for the visitors, ably supported by late call-up Rioli with 109 while O'Meara 106, is starting to hit his straps after a long time out.
Gray, Hurn and Heppel with 106, 104 and 102 respectively, have tried hard to stem the time for the Locals.
The 2nd half sees Stef Martin, Astbury and 378 for Coolgardie try to hang on against Beams, Dusty, Dunstan, Lever and Lewis Taylor for The Smugglers...
This one is going down to the wire....
