https://www.theroar.com.au/2021/02/15/why-fremantles-style-is-built-for-aflw-success/ @FreoDockers what is your take on this - accurate or not ?
My thoughts are - pretty accurate and a pretty good write up! I watched the game v Adelaide with my parents on the weekend (no mean feat getting Dad to watch an AFLW game...) and his comment was - those Dockers girls are manic in the way they attack the footy and the body. The Dockers don't miss too many tackles (thanks Turbo...) and the game plan is as simplistic as it comes. Defend, Defend, kick and run!! Two players who I'd like to mention who rarely light up the stats sheet but play huge roles are Ang Stannett in defence and Gabby O'Sullivan in attack - their work rates are phenomenal. Challenges will come over the next month when the Dockers venture into hub life but it seems they were genuinely disappointed it didn't happen after last weekend (at least according to Hayley Miller on the Credit to the Girls Podcast) but they will get their chance soon enough. So it's me and @Chloe venturing back to Fremantle Oval again this weekend to watch the Dockers hopefully dismantle Gold Coast...

https://www.sen.com.au/news/2021/03/02/why-the-kangaroos-had-to-say-no-to-floated-aflw-hub-plan/ Obviously a very short article discussing something that could be very long winded. FWIW Abbatangelo would be the Mum with school aged kids and Duffin one of the other 2 mums. Ten players unavailable is a lot versus other clubs who have agreed to hub with only a few missing. Hopefully once March 13 hits the last 3 AFLW rounds are free to be played without restrictions.
https://womens.afl/news/64399/injury-wrap-gun-sun-s-season-over-top-blue-on-verge-of-return A pretty comprehensive AFLW injury wrap.
2 of my lovely new MSDs out for the week and Ash Brazill just refuses to either return or become inactive!
https://womens.afl/news/64544/r7-9-fixture-revealed-afl-releases-final-three-rounds-of-season We have all 9 rounds scheduled now.
And a level playing field for the AFLW........ The traffic on Punt Road is pretty heavy apparently, so that makes it all fair and above board...
And Collingwood sitting at No1 get to play this weekend at Victoria Pk, while The Suns, way down the ladder at 2 from the bottom, with no wins, get to travel to Adelaide to take on the No4 team and so expend their klms travelled to well over 15000 while the number 1 team might actually have to travel more than 30klms in total, to complete their round 6 responsibilites. Ahhhh! don't you just love the way the VFLW and VFL look after their beloved local teams...and I was naive enough to think if it was the AFLW and the AFL, then the "A" in both leagues would mean something....obviously not....this is all about Victoria and anyone west of the border or north of the Murray, just don't come into consideration.....the only (can't think of the word) to this is when the AFL can't complete a season without Qld's help, and then it's.........we love you so much and you'll really help us if we can play most of our games there... But it's a new year and we're back to VFL reigns supreme......so we'll play your preseason game against Brisbane at the ridiculous time of 6.10pm on a Monday, because it's a Public Holiday in Melbourne, and it suits us.... It's not a holiday in Qld, and no one from Brisbane will take time off work to travel during peak hour traffic to GC, to get there by 6pm. And even GC people will have trouble getting to the game because of the early start.... And also let's not forget the 2nd tier competition that has teams from Vic, Qld and NSW involved, but we, as the people in charge, (read Victorians), need to recognise Historical reference and so the competiton will continue to be known as the VFL... But that's all ok because that suits us Victorians and we control the game...... I actually thought we, as Aussies, were better than this...........but I've been left disillusioned once again.. OK rant over.......

https://womens.afl/news/65552/around-the-state-leagues-crows-ruck-dominates-lion-pushes-for-debut It is fantastic to see these articles appearing for the AFLW as they are a great way to follow the players not selected who are knocking on the door to play in the next 3 weeks and are a standard weekly item in the men’s comp
